Hey I’m an asbestos contractor ur pretty much right and also u have to have it tested first before any actual removal is done because some times asbestos is mostly found in older model homes and it’s also found on VCT tile vinyl flooring piping u name it asbestos is everywhere and dangerous if u need any removed I’m willing to help u with that situations I’m from South Carolina and been doing this for 16 years
Hello Enrique I’m new to asbestos and need to do the work on a small house we just bought could you walk me through what are the steps to follow please and thank you, I do remodeling but never encountered anything like that before
For real!! That’s multiple things in construction predating 1980 (eg, lead, radon, mercury) the list goes on And the government helps pay for none of it
If you can't afford to pay for professional asbestos abatement, then don't touch it. Don't try to cut costs by doing DIY removal. I'm not an abatement contractor I am an HVAC tech. Asbestos is alot more dangerous than you think it is.
Hello, thanks for this. I have a floor heater exhaust pipe that is coated in asbestos. It is actually coming up though the floor and through the ceiling of a closet that I'm using as a vocal booth. What do you think about simply putting an insulated flexible duct with a metalized outer layer? The coating isn't in bad condition, considering the house was built in the 1920s. But it's a small closet and sometimes I bump up against it with my guitar or accidentally scratch it. It's not cost effective to remove the pipe entirely. But I suppose it could be cut off from under the house and pulled up through the roof, then replaced with a newer pipe. I'm guessing that's not cheap, either.
Don't do that. The scratch has more than likely already relased asbestos whether or not it's an acceptable PEL is depending on your results. Hire a pro there's soo much redtape around proper removal it's better to let a pro take the liability.
@@123badman thanks, I had the pipe removed by an abatement team. I also took samples of the plaster walls and ceiling to a lab, and they determined that there was a minuscule amount of asbestos present. But in the interest of being thorough, I had the walls and ceiling removed, also.
@@TomBVoxman how much did it cost you to do the whole house? We are buying a place that was built in the 40s and the ceiling and walls probably have it. Thanks
I know i have asbestos in my kitchen island wall. Its a box wall from floor to the ceiling. I want to break it. And i know there is asbestos. I was wondering. Do i have to spray it and than remove it or remove it and than spray it. I know i have to inclose the space. I just dont know what to do after that

Still the hazardous material I'm the least worried about....its never a huge concern until some non certified laborer just comes in and starts ripping stuff up without encapsulating, running an air scrubber or wearing proper ppe. Probably Mold then Lead and then Asbestos. Mold only because their's over 100k different types you can possibly be allergic to.
So, if you have a negative air machine, respirator, Tyvec suits, 6ml labeled bags, airless sprayer, manometer, shower with filter, decon chambers, and a landfil that will accept the asbestos, then you can do it yourself. Otherwise, no.

Hey men how is the process on getting in? Or where to get certified?
Maybe a labor union in your area will pay for your certification. That's my situation.

You could just remove it yourself just spray plenty of water to contain the fibers
I could. But dont think I would enjoy it.
@Brandon Price yes as long as you follow the water method and safety protocols you'll be fine you can save 30k ...
