Jingles, my grandfather served on the USS Somers for her entire WWII carrier, he was an anti air gunner manning one of her Oerlikon 20 mm cannon, during the invasion of Normandy he received 3 purple hearts for multiple shrapnel hits which he carried imbedded in an ankle and shoulder until his death in 2014 when bladder cancer took him. Her name is pronounced so-mers not summers, just so you know unless it's your accent in which, my apologize

@@nurgle11 Interesting except the ship was named for Richard Somers, who was a commander in US Navy giving his life with an all volunteer crew of 12 to sail into Tripoli Harbor and detonate the USS Intrepid in the middle of the Corsair fleet during the first Barbary war, unfortunately the "volcano" ship Intrepid prematurely exploded killing Somers and all 12 hands. Since his death in 1804 6 ships have been named in his honor, as well the town of Somers in NY state. The town of Somers Point in NJ is named for his Great Grandfather where every year the town celebrates Richard Somers day in his honor. Thus all USS Somers are pronounced the way his family pronounced it, the old English pronunciation not the modern language version. Perhaps if his name was Richard Summers the ships would be called USS Summers but since that's not reality of history it is not so!

Jingles, I laughed throughout this video. I am the one, like that mate you knew in the navy, that starts the fights. Im older now, and the fights I start are at our VFW posts (USA) (Veteran of Foreign Wars) now. I get another branch to engage in an argument with me about service pride. Then I rope in someone from yet another branch. Get them going at each other and sit back laughing. Sorry to be that person, but damn it is fun.

I was always that guy, too. At least while enlisted. The patented barracks move was to slyly kick one guy's six pack next to another guy, making it look like an attempted theft, especially when pointing it out to the first guy. Then commencing E&E operations.

Had a blast playing this game and I’ve always loved your content :) p.s jingles you actually got it on the reverse lol it was rebel who wasn’t much of a dd player, not that I main destroyers but rebel pretty much only plays things like American cruisers, his build on his Sherman (which he has changed since) was a full gun build for his captain without the concealment perk since he was planning on playing it more like a cruiser rather than a dd… anyways it was all in good fun thanks for the vid! (Me being the dd noob instead of rebel is going to be the running joke in my clan for a long while… oh lord XD)

@@wimpie031 we both had Halsey and got confederate it was quite the game, just wish I wasn’t made out to be the villain when I saw the Austin and backed up bc I knew what that thing was capable of while my friend rebel just went full leeroy jekens on me lol but oh well rebel will certainly have a laugh

Only if the enemy team is stupid enough to push into one. If it gets caught out by itself things can get pretty hairy given it's poor conceal and terrible maneuverability for a dd. But if tje enemy team plays like this then you're basically in heaven.
Acktually Jingles… he was at pretty low risk of dying to the Yamagiri other than by blind fire as he was usin his hydro to keep it lit while simultaneously using the Yamagiri’s smoke to stay dark himself (one BB that could have spotted him was just out of gun bloom and the other was just about to pass behind an island). Masterful!

My best games have been with my friend who recently started playing and dragged me into fights that we weren't supposed to win but, we did.
Sherman does depend on some of the team being vaguely in the same postcode as the enemy, as happened here a couple of times if the rest of your team hides being a smoke gun dd menas you're basically useless... having the desmo and Ohio in the same div is useful.

Pretty sure that DM to the right was the one that provide most of the damage to that Austin.
We had a fight-starting one-way no-load punk in one of my shops when I was on the Sub Tender. It got to the point where no one would go out on liberty with him.
Yamagiri also has a 2volleys/turret burst fire mode, ideal for finishing off damaged DDs.
Didn't even mention that they had backup in the form of an Ohio/DM division from their clan that spawned on the same flank as them (and they're the ones that actually killed the Austin; you see the Austin take a big hit from the Ohio before Rebel and Shifter even engage him, and the DM finishes him off)

At least Forrest Sherman can be described as the pinnacle of US DD design: Rapid firing guns, not the best torps but they still hit hard (BTW those are apparently supposed to be ASW torpedos IRL but as we all know torpedos are useless vs subs.), American smoke, hydro and Def AA to support your teammates with. If your teamplayer this ship is for you.
Team player? Lmao you sit and smoke and farm with Sherman. You're fire support, not a team player. If you want a team player DD get the Gearing.
Well, it's only in this game that torpedoes are useless against subs, irl ASW torpedoes are VERY effective

What was probably the best was absolutely stonewalling a 2x Sherman div in my khaba by sitting flat broadside to them. For some mystical magical iron curtain BS paper ship reason, those wimpy guns can’t pen me (36mm sap or 21 HE). Oh well, didn’t stop me from chewing them up and spitting them out.

Just a point of interest: The intro actually sets up a premise for fun in WoWS - that there's no CV and no Subs... so basically if Wargaming removed 40% of the shipclasses we'd all have a game we'd actually want to play... Worst part about Jingles' observation? - I agree completely..
looking at the Sherman div gameplay: no, not even the purge of the cancer classes would be enough to make it fun for everyone.

Was fairly obvious where the yamagiri was as soon as B started to be flipped, slightly surprised the torps didn't rip through the smokescreen a whole lot earlier!

Safe play would be to go right into cap. Best play was to use Yamagiri smoke against himself while using hydro to respot him. Even if there would be someone in his gun bloom (for which he wouldn´t be able to shoot safely), you still can run from the other side of that island, hydroing your enemy through that one and keep him spotted for your teammates.
Because "WG, I am not sure that hydro´s think the way they are" :)
AcTuAlLy Jingles the Sherman’s reload can’t be improved because the server says it’s not allowed
The base reload of 1.5 seconds is eleven 7-Hz ticks. If you can get it under 1.42 seconds (ten ticks) it'll make a difference.
It can though, Flambass had it happen live in his first battle in the thing. That reload rate buff from William Halsey does indeed work on Forrest Sherman. (11:50-ish second from the top comments should have the timestamp as well ua-cam.com/video/-B8bSS7YsFc/v-deo.html) Jingles even did a video on it.

My first match against a sherman I knew about the crap torps, but didn't know about the hydro. Thought it was a perfect opportunity to take over an angry smokescreen in khaba. I was wrong.
Jingles the instigators - the great trouble makers. I ran into one in middle school. He was a little guy hyping his friend on how much he was going to kick my butt for some lame reason. I think it was because his friend was better at being a mouth breather of air. When we got into the fight, I took the fight to his friend, pounded his friend down, and was about to go after the little guy too before the vice-principal broke the fight up. I then found out it was SRO in the hallway outside of the bathroom from our fighting. That was what brought the heat. I got three days detention for the fight. I never trust that pair from then on until out of public school.

This reminds me of a clan member and me on wot blitz, I play a pretty good heavy. But occasionally we'll both go yolo in TD's, or they went light/medium so I play t49/t92. Which I absolutely play wrong 😂 much more of a heavy/TD specialist than a fast "stay moving and shoot" tank
