    Wow, using the pierce feature is a great technique. I (and many other tutorials) usually use fuselage cross-sections with coincident or tangent relations (to guide curve) to create the sketches to be lofted. Creating a 4-point spline using pierce relations offers so much for freedom and flexibility and ensures that the guide curves work too

    It's a good practice to model these kind of complex designs in surfaces in "surfaces" tab and finally knit them ( modeling in surfaces allows more flexibility ). Then apply thicken command. Thanks for the tutorial btw, I haven't realised the importance of curvature combs until now.

    When you're doing all the guide lines of the plane and you finish doing them, all the different guide lines like Bottom Guide Curve, Right Guide Curve etc. When I go to do what you're showing to do on sketching out the plane and stuff the only guide lines I get are from the right plane and the top plane what exactly do I have to do to be able to get the rest of the guide lines like you do? Do I have to for example sketch out the top plane of the picture and than go to the bottom view and sketch the bottom of the picture even though it's the same thing? Either I'm dumb or this is really confused me simply because you kinda rushed ahead without explaining the different guide curves lol

    Hi, thank you for this amazing tutorial. I have a question when modeling the guide curves. For some reason when I checked the curvature comb, it's really really tiny. Does that imply there's not enough curvature?

    how extrude frames section of this shape? I need to create frames like in real manufacturing and assemble them and add fuselage over it

    • @jimheimerl1637
      @jimheimerl1637 5 років тому

      You can make a sketch at each cross section spline location and use those for extrusions. You can also make additional sketches in between these existing spline sketches. HOWEVER - remember that the thin feature is *inward*, so your sketches would have to be from the inner surface. Also, you would have to make most of the outer edges of the frame extrusions as lofts, since the inner surface of this fuselage loft is curved at those cross section points. It will be somewhat complicated... so, good luck!

    Can you suggest the possibilities on why my guide curves aren`t working. I already divided acordingly; right,left,top,bottom.

    • @cad.art.design.5933
      @cad.art.design.5933  6 років тому +1

      It can be any of the many reasons. make sure that all 4 curves are separate sketches. Also if you have a projected curve, you can only use that one curve for a single loft. Instead of a projected cure, you may use a 3D sketch to make a curve in 3D.

    • @cad.art.design.5933
      @cad.art.design.5933  4 роки тому +1

      Try making the nose a separate loft. Don't make the fuselage into a single loft. Also try surface loft instead of solid body loft, it gives more flexibility.

    how can your guide curve still appear after you loft the first body?

    • @cad.art.design.5933
      @cad.art.design.5933  7 років тому +3

      its simple :
      1) go to the design tree, and find the loft (eg: loft 1)
      2) click on the '+' sign to the left of the loft
      3) you will see the tree expand, showing the contents of the loft (the guide curves and the sketches)
      4) right click on the desired guide curve on the tree (you'll see the curve highlight on the screen) and click on the glasses (hide/show) button.
      The sketches and guide curves become hidden automatically once the loft is completed, but once you show it manually, you'll have to manually hide it as well.

    • @cad.art.design.5933
      @cad.art.design.5933  4 роки тому

      the guide curves can only be used in one loft, so try opening a new 3D sketch (not 2D sketch) and use convert entities and convert the composite guide curves into a new 3D sketch. Once you do that, the guide curves can be used in multiple lofts :)
