    Man... I just gotta say that this was one of the most enjoyable reviews I've watched :) You seem like a really nice dude and you put together a great demo/review here friend! I loved your enthusiasm for the guitar, and you've definitely convinced me to consider spending my next paycheck on this beauty! Cheers.

    I have the Jake Pitts E-1 which has EMG active pickups, and I also have the E-1 that has the Sustainiac. Great guitars, but both have the Floyd Rose 1500 trem. I have had my eye on this one since it is a hardtail and does not have active pickups. AND it is beautiful! Great review! Gotta get one now! : )

    Thanks for the video! I finally got my hands on one of these and purchased it in Stockholm, found out by chance when I went through old photos that I actually had taken a pic of Ralf from Mustasch playing that guitar live because I liked it so much but didn't think more of it. Mine is from 2016 and basically looks un-played.. amazing guitar. (By the look of the pic it looked like Ralf replaced the pickups though, maybe SD's like his Schecter V?)

      Congrats! Dont remember if I say it in the video but first time I saw it was also in the hands of Ralf, could not make out the brand but later a friend of mine bought one... Its a fantastic guitar but it really deserves better pickups imho. Bought a set of Lace Divinators that I will install one day 😀

    I am thinking of getting one of these so thank you for your review. Thank you so much for making a comment on the balance of the guitar. I want to replace my Epihone SG and the neck dive on that drives me mad so having a balanced guitar is very important. Top work.

    Nice review...how would you rate this vs. the Gibson Explorer B2?

    • @haveguitar
      @haveguitar  4 роки тому

      Thanks! Two different beasts. The Schecter gives a more high end feeling eventhough the Gibsons more expensive (it is overpriced!). But the Gibson is kind of more satisfying to play, maybe due to the fatter sound of pups.

  • @moparbryan
    @moparbryan 5 років тому +2

    Great review I love my E-1 but have the same issue with the pickups they just feel weak and uninspired. I will probably change them out. I also noticed you kept adjusting the tone control, I wonder if you have the same issue mine is so loose it won’t stay in one spot I find myself constantly rolling it back up!

    • @haveguitar
      @haveguitar  5 років тому +2

      Thanks! I think when I fiddle with the tone I'm actually switching the 'coil tapping', you know between humbucker and 'singlecoil' modes. I haven't had that problem - maybe you just need to tighten the nut of the controls?
      I was planning on switching pickups to the Fishman Fluence Modern but as I bought an Ibanez that have those pickups, maybe something else. Been thinking about SD Nazgul/Sentient or something else in that class... :)

    • @jameswilkins4motion
      @jameswilkins4motion 5 років тому +1

      Bryan Saunders yo mate, I have a schecter solo 2 custom and the two volume pots are a lot tighter than the tone ( my best mate has the same guitar in a different finish and it’s the same on his). My tone pot won’t turn by itself so maybe needs tighten using the nut just don’t think that it should turn the same as the rest.

    Nice one Magnus. Clear coat does not bother me on the fingerboard edge, all my PRS guitars have it. If it chips it could be a problem though. The terms for the shaping are, belly cuts and comfort carves. Nice of you to have my photo on your shirt! Ha ha.

    • @haveguitar
      @haveguitar  5 років тому

      I'm blessed with practically no sweating from my hands, could imagine it would be small problem otherwise... and I'll try to keep those terms in mind for future reference. No guarantees given though! :D And... what? Me worry? ;)

    Hi, the other day, I was thinking of getting a Schecter SLS Evil Twin E-1, with Fleischman Fluence Modern Pickups. Have a ever tried this guitar or with Fleishman's. What do think of EMG Pickups like the EMG 81 Bridge and EMG 85 Neck? Sorry for the many quesitons.

    • @haveguitar
      @haveguitar  3 роки тому +1

      Hiya ! I have an Ibanez that came with 2 Fishman Fluence modern. They have 2 voicings and well, I like them alot, works for most kinda tones in my op. The EMGs are good pups as well, I know one guy who recorded a full Country album with EMGs 🤓 though I havent compared them side by side, I would say the Fishies are slightly smoother in character. Hope that helps!

    How do you think these pickups compare to the standard 496R a d 500T Gibson pickups in the explorers? I am familiar with the Gibsons and am curious about the similarities and differences between these schecter ones and the Gibson ones.

    • @haveguitar
      @haveguitar  3 роки тому +1

      I havent tried those pickups, I have 490 in my SG Standard. But I have a friend who has a LP with 496 and he loves them, says they have a nice bite to'em. I have bought a set of Lace pickups that I will put in this guitar, will of course do a video once I get about to do it.
      My gripe with the original pups is that they feel kinda weak while playing. But they sound good on recorded material... 🥴

    In my honest opinion when you compare this guitar to a Gibson Explorer this Schechter E-1 strait up kicks Gibson in the balls! I love Gibson guitars and I own several including Les Pauls, SG‘s and a few Firebirds. I was in the market for an Explorer but when I saw this Schecter I immediately fell in love with it. The block inlays on this guitar as well as the pinstriping make this guitar a real eye popper and when compared to the Gibson it makes the Gibson look archaic and dated especially with the old fashion dot inlays making Gibson look like it’s still mired up in the past.
    Just my opinion....Gibson makes some awesome guitars but they need to get with the program and bring the Explorer out of the 1970s. And no, I should not have to pay an extra thousand plus dollars to get an explorer with block inlays by way of a Bill Kelliher or Lizzie Hale version either! I don’t know what “genius“ at Gibson decided to do that but as for Bill and Lizzie, who in the hell are they!?

    • @haveguitar
      @haveguitar  4 роки тому +1

      I hear you, brother and you have some brilliant points right there! Visually the Schecter outshines the (standard) Explorer. You need to step up to Gibson Custom shop to be on par... but I do wish they would have equipped the Schecter with some hotter pups. The Dirty Fingers in the Explorer just have a jucier feel and sound to them. Just wanna say Thanks for your comment, very much appreciated!

    • @phayzyre1052
      @phayzyre1052 4 роки тому +1

      Have Guitar I wholeheartedly agree! 👍👍😎 Yes, the Gibson Explorer‘s pickups do have a much better sound but Gibson needs to get with the program, come up to modern day aesthetics and quit relying so much on their past which has become rather tarnished here in the last 15 or so years. Replacing that former weirdo CEO Henry Jucszkiewicz was a HUGE step in the right direction but Gibson still has a long ways to go if they ever going to recapture their lost glory.

    • @haveguitar
      @haveguitar  4 роки тому

      @@phayzyre1052 Absolutely. My Explorer was way overpriced, but I just fell in love with that raw simple design. But I hooe they can shape up the quality and design and adjust their prices. I mean their standard range is in the level of other brands highend sortiment without the quality really!

    • @haveguitar

      Thanks! I was about to write "Schecter over Epiphone any day" but I took a look at the Extura first. I'm not a fan of Epiphone but that is a good looking guitar... and - this my personal opinion - as they are in the same price range, I think I would have chosen the Extura considering it comes with Fishman Fluence pickups. I have them in one of my Ibanez guitars and they smoke the Schecter pups in every way. On the other hand the Schecter is a very cool guitars... not an easy choise but good luck with what you go for!

      @@Lone_wolf_31 What the...? Didn't I reply to this last week? What I wrote was, if money isn't an issue I think I would go for the ESP/LTD. Both are cool designs, the LTD has what I believe is way better pickups than the Schecter, but of course if you fancy the Schecter and perhaps is a bit short on cash - one option would be to buy the Schecter and switch pickups later on. Like I will, actually have a pair of Lace Divinators on the shelf that I will put in the Schecter one day.

      Have Guitar
      I got the purple E1 FRS with the Sustainiac. It’s a fantastic guitar. But I will probably change the bridge pickup out to and EMG. The Jake Pitts model already has the EMG and the Sustainiac. But I really wanted the purple with carbon fiber binding and the Floyd Rose 1500. The pickup is not bad (apocalypse VI) it definitely works nice for the music I play. But I just prefer active pickups. And the neck on my model is satin. So that’s nice too. Clear coat is not a problem for me though. But my son has problems with it. Some people just have weird hands I guess? He goes through strings like crazy too as a result of his sticky hands. But it’s a beautiful guitar. Plays very well. And the stainless steel frets are nicely polished. Thanks for the reply! Very nice video and nice playing too🤘🏻
