    Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! My DC25 is running like new again. Maxed out the tank on just my living room on the trial run. I can't thank you enough for making this video. I was close to pitching it and buying a new one. Now I think I'll rescue other DC 25's and rebuild them for people. Great Video.

    So far so good, never done this before, female, 69! Now to get it put back together. Only one little problem, I'm replacing the motor which burnt out last year, just after I'd bought new hepa/pre filters. Now to put it back together again. Thank you Sam.

    We found a trash picked DC25 Animal at our local Goodwill for $5 US Dollars. Works excellently but the brushroll motor is shot, family doesn't want to fix it.
    Edit: Our main cleaner, a DC41 Mk1, just took a dump and so I reverse engineered it's brushroller motor and now it's in the DC25 and it works phenomenally :)

Then I usually do the same to reassemble but get the main body out the way first, then the floorhead and test the motors are still running

    Thanks you man! I wasn't able to find a repair manual online for this DC 25 so I'm glad you did a complete break down. I found it on the curb and it has some noise coming out of the ball. It's probably the bearings. I'll see if I can refurbish this thing.

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  7 років тому

      +Santos Rivera if the noise is when the ball itself spins, rather than the motor then yes, check the large cog. There's a very detailed dc25 refurb thread on the Manchestervacs forum (I know because I wrote it!) Nice to see a trash find too, we don't get many of those in the uk anymore sadly

I got it fixed and working good except for the spring on the red wheel release lever. I can't figure out exactly where it goes to snap into place to lock the wheels down for easy rolling. The reassembly video would be very useful as sometimes the parts come apart and it not obvious how they reassemble. Regardless I appreciate your work on this.

    What an awesome tutorial video - good man Beko1987. Thanks.
    We bought a second hand machine which had been "serviced" (new brush roller, new filter) and it seemed a bit lacking in suction. We turned on the DC25 this morning and there was a burning smell. Stopped the machine and bought a replacement motor which I hope arrives this week. While waiting I decided to check the cyclone gasket and presto it was ruined! Service engineer obviously didn't check that did he!
    Beko1987, do you think the perished gasket could be related to the burnt out motor?

      It's in one of the dc25 refurb threads but from memory/iirc: , about level with the cord hook are 2 plastic tabs. Release both then pull the inner ring down level and watch for flying springs. The assembly should slide down. Then unjam what's jammed and pop the springs back in and slide it all back up.

    Yes, that bloody black clip @ 19.20 has fallen off mine too. The screw that was holding it on came loose. Now I have watched this video I can see how much of a pain its going to be to fix it. german shepard Any time man, glad to help! I think if you torque the screw up it just clamps it too tight for it to move, probably why it loosens off in the first place! A drop of superglue on the threads of the screw then fit it before it dries should sort it out!

      Hey there! I have had the exact same thing happen! The original screw and locking washer have disappeared. (I knew what was broken but didn't see what was missing until I took it apart) any suggestions on fixing that without the original locking washer or where to find the part online?

    I have a DC25 Multi-Floor vacuum that I picked up second hand dirt cheap, works great, only issue is the wand is stuck. It isn’t the kinked hose issue, the ACTUAL metal want looks like it was stepped on or something. I’ve tried to pull on it to get it out, I’ve tried to press the tabs on the side to release it and push it up, no luck. Where is it I can find how to fully disassemble the wand? Or do you have any tricks that would help me get this thing off to either hammer back into place or replace?!

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  4 роки тому

      It is possible, but very tricky. The plastic end of the wand has to come off, and that's tricky, then push the metal tabs back in. Then you can pull the wand up and out. The locking mechanism will either stay put or fall apart so make sure you note how it goes before fully removing the wand! Or get a used wand from ebay for a tenner or so...

    I am trying to remove the bin flap as shown after 52 minutes in order to replace it. But my sharp pull has not freed it. Am I probably not pulling hard enough as the 'bear hug' does not seem to distort the hinged region of the bin? Or do I just have to cut the pins, or break the 'arms' that they are on, as I have the replacement flap ready and waiting.

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  4 роки тому +1

      If you've got a new flap then yea, break away! The idea is I stick it under my arm and squeeze hard perpendicular to the pins, so their pushed apart and snap out easily as the locking nobles themselves are rounded. Issue you might have is fitting the new one, it'll need a squeeze and a fairly steady push or it shoots off up the moulding and you bash your hand on the edge of the bin!

    • @briangray229
      @briangray229 4 роки тому

      @@beko1987 Thank you very much Beko1987. With that encouragement I squeezed harder perpendicular to the pins and pulled harder, and the flap came loose. And then the new flap went in similarly. I think Dyson must use stronger plastic than many companies. Thank you again.

    Hello Sam I would love if you reply. I have a problem when I was taking the cleaner head motor out of its chamber I snapped the clip that holds it in is this a big deal or not because this machine is a refurb one and I'm panicking

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  7 років тому

      Bob Surrey Hi Bob. Do you mean the black part that goes around the cog? That clips onto the other black part that holds the brushroll cog? If so then no, by the time it's together the belt holds it tighter than the clip does, as does screwing the head up. Test it before giving it back to the customer, but ive snapped one side off before with no ill effects!

    • @bobsurrey4043
      @bobsurrey4043 7 років тому

      Beko1987 hi Sam thanks for reply the piece I snapped is at the 50:19 part of the video where you say to gently lift the brushroll motor out of its housing well as I was levering it out the piece just snapped that holds it in place and I can't find it anywhere

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  3 роки тому +1

      I'd be having the side cover off (3 T20) and checking if the loom is snapped. If not, then up top and the brushroll power switch and/or reset switch (both get blipped by the on button so if the switch just bounces, that'll be in. Infact hold that switch down manually, that'll soon tell you!)

    My DC25 wails like a banshee when starting up and after a short time it settles to just an unbelievably loud whine. I'm thinking bearings in the motor head and the main motor. It's a torx driver, and usually the same size, however some of the newer machines use smaller screws. When I took the v6 and dc54 apart, I needed to get my micro laptop disassembling set out for the cy line screws!
