Oh man can I just say, Simin is really fascinating to me from a combat standpoint? Like, this dude has TWO styles for the ice dust (dual-wield and sword & shield - haha rhymes), one for the fire dust, presumably at least one for that brown dust we don't get to see him use, and while we only see him throw the wind dust lance like a javelin, it wouldn't be unreasonable to think he could, should the need arise, use it like a lance as well. That's at least 5 very different fighting styles, potentially 6 if he can indeed use the lance as a close-combat weapon and not just a projectile. On top of that, he was able to throw the fire dust flamberge (I see what you did there) like it was some sort of throwing knife! A full-sized flamberge!! Even made of dust, that could not have been easy!
an amendment to my comment because I can never get paragraphs to work and I don't want to make a block of text even longer, I just found out that a flamberge is not the only "flame-bladed sword" and that that blade Simin uses could also be a flambard, flammard, or flammenschwert. I don't know for sure which because I can't find clear images.

And dont forget unarmed combat itself. Though what's stopping him from changing the weapons themselves? Or combining dust.

Gorade Exactly!!! This is an amazing quality for a leader! Whereas Ruby had long and short range, this dude specializes in all forms of physical weapon combat and I’m all for it. On top of that we get elemental combos and weapons?! Like this dude is great!!!

Dust jacket? What a brilliant way to use the "dust mixed with clothing" thing from the world of remnant video for a weapon idea. Although Im curious what his last form of weapon would be. We only saw wind, fire, and ice I believe.

Monty said when laid out to the rules for team and character naming that one day he'd like an OC team to be made cannon. I really hope Simin makes it into the cannon his fighting style and weapon is totally awesome!

Ragora, her name is ragora. The Regalia part refers to her color, just like simin's name is not silver ang vella's name isn't veridian.
@@fortythealien7165 that's the part that throws me off. Most (and I do mean most) of the names in RWBY are related to a color in some way. Some are even directly named after a color. Most of the rest of the names are related in some way to who they resemble. Pyrrha Nikos, for example, Pyrrha comes from the Greek term meaning "flame-colored" while Nikos is akin to Nike, greek goddess of victory.
Veridian, for example, would have been a useable name. Not only is it the appropriate color, but it even SOUNDS like a name. Regalia, maybe not so much, but I also dont see the correlation to a color, with that nickname (if anyone can clarify). But Silver would've been a useable one too.
Lycan is normal though, seeing as Sun is named after Sun Wukong. "Linen" being his nickname is a shout out to Velvet. It sorta matches his color scheme, but it's a tricky one to nail down.

@@Evilman_520 Not everything in RWBY is a color reference. I understand where you're coming from since most do follow a color pattern, but not everyone does. If you looked on the wiki for Mark's SLVR team, you'll see that the names of the 4 SLVR members are actually all references to the moon in some way.
Taken straight from the wiki:
"Mark has confirmed that Team SLVR has a "lunar theme", as the moon is usually represented by the astrological metal silver and all of its members have allusions to figures that relate to it in some way, with their own personal emblems possessing a crescent shape in each individual design (though Simin's symbol is more reminiscent of a full moon marked by craters).
Simin's surname "Megistus" comes from Hermes Trismegistus, a Greek name for the Egyptian moon god Thoth, who was also known for writing, magic, and alchemy.

Problem with adding it to the series is that it interferes with what Monty already wrote. Best you might get is seeing this team in the background somewhere, or being very, very minor characters.
lord acecil Monty had the story written up to around volume 7, with enough notes that the writers joked they could go up to 20 after that.

I had to say it was a very enjoyable viewing. You captured the style and artistry of the show nearly perfectly (despite probably not having access to the same hardware). I thought your dust channeling weapon was very creative, a Weiss style fight. I think RT would want the copyright!

tunedude19 Why not so likely though? Nothing against Rooster Teeth, but if anything, now should be the best time to be seeking fan help. As a creator myself, if I had to choose between my fans who love the world or the company that just wants to continue it for a paycheck (again, nothing against Rooster Teeth, I know they care more than that), I'd personally want my fans involved because they love the series and would be a great asset, such as we see here with the Silver trailer. Not everyone has tons of skill and talent, my characters are only on pen and paper, but when someone like this comes along, it might be worth looking into hiring them.

Another great piece of work - great idea with the Dust weapons - as awesome as Monty's momentum-based "It's also a gun" style was, it's also nice to see development into other forms of weaponized Dust. Great job making it your own!
Considering you've done all this yourself (barring the assets you acknowledged), and you're still sticking with it, I wouldn't be surprised if you did end up getting a job offer from RT.

AnonChisei I feel that this idea could even be woven into the whole isolated cities thing from the map they gave us... Maybe in the cities containing Beacon and it's sibling school the styles revolve around incorporating guns into weaponry, while in the other two other styles of combat are used

I always love coming back to Silver. The animation is a bit stiff even in comparison to Viridian, but I still love it so much. For a beginning, it’s great. Simin’s weapon is so incredibly creative. It’s probably my favorite RWBY weapon I have ever seen.

I love how he used the technique ironwood had talk about, ebrodering dust into his clothes, that was almost never shown in rwby, also the addition of a cover of papermoon made it even more astoundingly beautiful

This reminded me of a time I once joked that an “endmill sword” could actually pull off the myth of katanas being able to cut through steel.

This is amazing. Seriously. Though the animation is understandably not as fluid as the Canon show, this is beautiful and definitely multiple steps above the Charcoal Trailer, which was also incredible. This was enjoyable to watch and showed a fun personality in the character. :D

You did it again Mark. I'm... wow that was awesome. I was shocked that you managed to get/develop White Fang designs, and then you pulled out the dust jacket. You also managed to pull off more fluid movements with the models. If you develop your style further, I think the next thing you should work on is effects. I realize you're limited with what you can use, but if there was one thing that the dust jacket could have improved on, it was the effects of forming/destroying the weapons. I can't wait to see what you put out next.

Around 3:06, the White Fang general gets thrown back. I suggest him scraping across the floor a little due to momentum. Also, at the beginning of the fight, when his arm is stretched out, I suggest more body language and facial expressions.
Around 3:30, he forms icicles in his hands...His jacket is still set to fire.
3:52, when the frost smoke appears after he slams the sword down, his sword is facing sidewards, not down.
Love the ending. Brings a really RWBY feel to it.

It's amazing looking back at this after watching Regalia just how much improvement they've had over the years with animation. Especially considering that it was already amazing considering it's a fan animation

Just watched Charcoal for the first time right before this. Loved it. Loved this. Love it all. In this one, like the previous one, the weapons are genius! I particularly liked the quick midair switch to fire to melt the ice swords in a Freezerburn-esque fashion to create a smokescreen, followed by the FREAKING VICTORY CYCLONE. 11/10

Really great, though you don't seem to be capitalizing on Dust all that much. You're only focusing on him using it to make his weapons, and not how Dust can be used in it's raw form with it's abilities. His ability to control the Dust types to manipulate the battlefield to his advantage should be focused on, such as trapping an enemies feet in ice, using air to knock a group of enemies away. Or just using Dust to attack in general, ice shards, fire balls, etc. Otherwise, he wouldn't really be using Dust for it's intended purpose as an energy propellant and would more be using it as a means to fight hand to hand, even though far more options are viable to him, which isn't how Dust has been shown to do.
Don't misunderstand me, the ability to solidify the Dust output is an amazing idea, but it seems that's all that was focused on.
(BTDubs: This isn't so much criticism as it is some notice, but ice isn't one of the types of Dust. Ice Dust is created from a combination of Air and Water Dust. Just for future reference.)
This is a great, and I mean ASTONISHING, fan made animation. There's that whole "don't quit your day job" phrase. But you, Marky my dear boy, completely and totally REVERSED that saying. You sir, need a job at RoosterTeeth. You could possibly make head animator. I mean, sure you will never be able to surpass Monty, but then again, no one can. So please. I am going to let everyone know that this is personally my favorite trailer among all of the SLVR trailers.
First off . . . loved the trailer, animation was 99% spot on. I only have a confusion on the weapon, does it ever run out of dust? Also another question is how exactly does the weapon work? I'm sort of a weapon geek like Ruby, so I'm more than a little curious as to how the weapon does what it does. Overall, I really liked this video. XD

Oh god was I actually this excited? Like its still good, and he still shouldve been able to get a job at RT when they used that modeling software... but god why was I SO excited?
I love how these capture the exact pacing and style of the original trailers. With how it always has a fight against a bunch of grunts, then a "big bad boss" it is crazy nostalgic watching as a fan of RWBY.

The character that started it all (well not really charcoal but you know what i mean) and I'm just going from video to video reliving them all honestly great job mark, no amazing job keep it up
It just occurred to me; even though you said his 4th Dust element would either be earth or lightning, right now I can't help but envision him wielding metal--specifically *gold!* Even though it'd clash with his "silver" theme, it's also a metal more valued than silver--it would be irony for Simin to wield it but then no one would see it coming.
Since Simin's 4th element hasn't been used, it would be pretty neat to see him using something more surprising, or at least less predictable than say earth or lightning. But since it's yellow/tan, gold's merely what I thought of. Not to mention, as a metal, it has at least some relationship to both earth and lightning. Metal's purified earth and gold is the best conductor of electricity.
But that's just my thought. There hasn't been a metal Dust type of any kind in RWBY yet, but until they actually lay out *all* the elements, I wouldn't fear making up a Dust element.
Rooster Teeth need to add someone like Silver to their series. His weapon is lit. Also is his semblance to manipulate dust... it would make sense with how he uses his weapons.
Check Linnen trailer description, Simin(Silver)'s semblance is actually to keep things solid or harder to break. The dust weapons are actually the jacket itself.
The fact that I know the songs in each video makes me feel like a real otaku lol. Great Job! Can't stop watching all 4 videos.

So, the version of the Paper Moon fandub in this trailer is in a different key from the one that's on geekyfandubs' channel. Does anyone know where to get this version to download?

Huh.....I never would have thought dust could be used in a way of clothing before. this is absolutely brilliant. it takes someone to really think out of the box to make your weapon, your actual clothing. It's not even mentioned in the original show. even though it's mentioned that dust actually has that kind of capability and yet no one has thought of it. we're so use that dust has to be a actual weapon that we stunt our own understanding of it. Sliver, is that his actual name? I think it works best if it is. I also notice that there were space for more "Members" are you or have you already made a team and is your other character in it? umm, I think his name is Brandon, right? Charcoal and Sliver, damn those two together would make such a badass team. speaking of, I know I've been fangirling about how his weapon is his clothing, but that is nothing compared to how he uses it. I loved how he's able to combine the dust together but that last trick up his sleeve (hehe) was badass!! I've going to keep watching this over and over until the next one comes out. this is truly something that I will NEVER get tired off! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
