May I suggest that you take a look at Y&T Don't Stop Runnin' Thank You

They played the harmony parts in the chorus but no solo. People from Skid Row weren't involved. They were not on anybody's radar at the time.
Brad, you're looking for "vibrato" which is oscillation between two pitches and is a natural occurrence but can be controlled. Singers like Rob Halford, Ronnie James Dio, and Bruce Dickinson are good examples of metal singers who have very operatic sounds, but are fully capable of adding distortion without damaging the throat or vocal cords.
I was a long haired Metal Head teen back in the 1980's. All of the Artists in this song are the true Metal scene musicians we worshipped as stoner parking lot kids, respectable adults now, but I still listen to all these artists now.
Lex absolutely has a musical soul. She really picks up on the emotion in the sound-- it's such a rare gift, and it's so cool to see it in someone else! You'd probably really dig some Joe Satriani instrumentals, and some of his contemporaries.
In this episode of Brad & Lex, The classic 80,s rock sound doesn't waste too much time to become contagious, bite Brad and infect him enough to quickly proceed with his signature "side to side sway". Lex is his co pilot on the same plane but seems to fly a little higher as she develops goosebumps and soars into a "Rocky Balboa rock bop".
Ted Nugent, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tommy Aldridge and members of Dio, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Quiet Riot, Dokken, Mötley Crüe, Twisted Sister, Queensrÿche, Blue Öyster Cult, Vanilla Fudge, Y&T, Rough Cutt, Giuffria, Journey, W.A.S.P. and Night Ranger as well as the parody band Spinal Tap. Vivian Campbell, Carlos Cavazo, Buck Dharma, Brad Gillis, Craig Goldy, George Lynch, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eddie Ojeda, and Neal Schon
Ronnie got these guys together for raising awareness of the plight in Africa, as from the Metal and hard Rock genre they weren't invited to Bandaid or USA for Africa, so this was their offering, there's an Album of work too, And you're right their all stars now pardon the pun. Not only was Dio the greatest voice he was an amazing human being for charity and rights. The love for him and his status in this field was massive respect. Saw him 7 times, only wish I'd been fortunate to have met him.
When you both watched the video for "USA for Africa" I was thinking about mention this metal version of a charity project. It seems like someone else did.
I think it is time Lex heard some Yngwie Malmsteen...I think that was the goosebumps/different sounding guitar. He has a very different sound...kind of classical music metal.

Lex, Yngwie Malmsteen was the guitarist that caught your ear. The guy is an insane talent on the guitar, you have to listen to some of his work. He would be a household name if he had ever been in a big time band.
He's a household name if you live in a house that actually knows about guitar players. If you only like huge superstars like Pink Floyd and Queen then you're probably clueless to Yngwie and Vai and Paul Gilbert and so on and so on.
He would be a household name if he could write songs as well as he played - or at least played in a band with other people who could. Unlucky for him, he's a bad songwriter and too conceited to let anyone else write for him. As a consequence, nobody who's not a guitarist actually listens to him.
Lex, the guitarist that you asked, “who is this?” is George Lynch of Dokken (at the time of the video). George Lynch went on to form Lynch Mob, then various solo and collaboration projects. If you’re interested in checking out Dokken, here’s a few songs: It’s Not Love, Into the Fire, In My Dreams, Dream Warriors, Heaven Sent.
What an original idea. No one had ever seen a large amount of music stars gathered together for an arbitrary cause before this, except for seven or eight times.
Well, they haven't really missed out. That guy is all style and no substance. As is, all technique and no songs. The guy just can't write a decent song to save his life.

Very nice work Eric…respect…long live the 80’s..be well…
Dio, organized and produced this entire thing, he also wrote it! The reason there was so much power was Dio, pushed them! Plus most of them were great musicians! Dio, my favorite singer, lyricist of all time! And Fiona Flanagan, my favorite female singer!
Brad coming in with the sharp ears here! Love that you picked up from the sound that each phrase of that long guitar solo was being played by a different guitarist. Seems like you've been listening to a lot more than just the lyrics all this time! Very cool reaction, you two!
So far, I haven't seen anyone else react to this group/song. I got way excited to see it. I'm so glad you loved it.
I still have the VHS of this
Yeah I ask them and others to react to this song for about 2 weeks straight
So Lex oo'ed at Geoff Tate (vocals - Queensryche) Yngwie Malmsteen (guitars) and George Lynch (guitars - Dokken).
I remember this when it came out, I love that they got Spinal Tap in the crowd.
I am so glad you guys reacted to this. I always smile while watching this one.
Yay for playing this! Always loved it and the behind the scenes is awesome,I still remember seeing it when it first came out..And Geoff Tate of Queensryche is a fave of mine,He was the singer in the white at 1:53 in the song...so many greats in this one!Keep On Rockin'
The Guitar player Lex is asking who he is : George Lynck from Dokken and Lynch Mob
And said "WOO!" for Yngwie.
Yngwie stole the show, Lynch came in 2nd, and Brad Gillis sucked the most....
But she "ooed" over Yngwie not Lynch
My all time favorite guitar player. Totally unique tone.
Seeing the video, I realized how much Brad and Lex HAVEN’T reacted to yet…or at least that I don’t recall seeing: WASP, Dokken, more Quiet Riot, more Judas Priest, more Queensryche, Spinal Tap (lol)…
So much work for them to do!
They had to bring in a member of Spinal Tap because Dan Aykroyd was in the choir of Us for Africa.
Can’t begin to explain how proud I am that you know RJD’s voice and are fans. Ronnie was such a remarkable person with pipes of gold and a heart to match.
Loved the veteran Buck Dharma closing out all the solos. Such a classy solo to cap off all the other great solos!!
Exactly. Class.
finally, thank you 🤘
and you asked who is that? that was Geoff Tate from Queensrÿche
I lost my cassette of this song back in the day….regret it ever since! I’m glad brad n lex did a reaction to this classic jam!! 👍
Could get it on CD 20 years ago, may be still kicking around, I have the original cassette still, but it got very tired from use. That is why I chased a CD copy.
I have the making and this on VHS
There's a Japanese guy here on UA-cam, Satsuma 2032 I think, who plays this song with all the guitar parts by himself. It's pretty amazing.
Greetings from Germany. As a Metalhead, since 1985, i was happy that they took the chance to show that we are not such antisocial and evil bad people. Sadwise we still have that bad reputation..But it's getting better...Damned, i still miss Ronnie James Dio..R.I.P.

Have a peaceful X-Mas time and Stay Safe
This was the hair metal version of We Are The World, this was put together by Dio.
I got this on vinyl when it came out - the group song was amazing, and the rest of the album was filled out with a great sampler of other live metal hits donated by bands who couldn't attend, plus a Hendrix studio song donated by his estate.
Brad is describing "vibrato."
Geoff Tate most distinct and most power full of them all by far
@@mikezentack3723 Geoff Tate has a very strong vibrato, very unique voice. Great singer.
OMG Who ever recommended Hear'n'Aid to Brad&Lex, you are a legend! Amazing to see this song getting any attention
I did it took me 2 weeks of bugging them to get them to react to the song
@@diablo4166 'preciate you! lol
At 13:13, that's Ted Nugent. Not many commenters have pointed this out, but Neal Schon of Journey is pictured many times.
I have never seen any of your videos before but 2 seconds into this song you asked is that Dio. I immediately followed your channel, so amazing that you picked that up so quick🤘
Never have more of my heroes been in the same room together. Magic.
Theses are my people!!! lol 😝 I love it!!!!!!! It haves me goosebumps even now to watch this video!!! They also have the making of this witch is awesome!!!! That’s how you get to know who’s singer and playing guitar 🎸!!!!
I think you guys are great ! This was the best reaction from you guys yet ! Keep on rockin on !
So glad you finally did this... Yngwie is a Guitar God.. and tbe singer you also liked was Geoff Tate from Queensryche. Y'all need to look at the entire video of this, it's about an hour long..
Nice first time anyone I follow has reacted to this historic recording….I was born in 1970 it was great being a teen in the 80’s
It took me 2 weeks of bugging them everyday to get them to react to this song
Thank you! 🙏 I've been waiting to people start react to this one 😎🤘
This song came out when I was stationed in Korea. 3 years later I deployed with 10th Mountain to Mogadishu, Somalia on a Humanitarian Mission. Like I said in an earlier comment, you'll know when Yngwie's note drops, you'll know George, Carlos, Vivian, Neal, Brad, Eddie, Craig, Buck, Dave, & Adrian as well.
May I suggest that you take a look at Y&T Don't Stop Runnin'
Thank You
Brad & Lex!
Proud to have you as part of my reaction channels!
Great reaction! Thanks for sharing.
So glad to see Dave Meniketti of Y&T get some love. That group should have been bigger that it was. Too bad they didn't get Tony Harnell of TNT.
The guitar solos were played by these people:
Craig Goldy (Giuffria)
Eddie Ojeda (Twisted Sister)
Craig Goldy
Eddie Ojeda
Vivian Campbell (Dio)
Brad Gillis (Night Ranger)
Vivian Campbell
Neal Schon (Journey)
George Lynch (Dokken)

Yngwie Malmsteen
Vivian Campbell
Yngwie Malmsteen
George Lynch
Carlos Cavazzo (Quiet Riot)
George Lynch
Carlos Cavazzo
Brad Gillis
Craig Goldy
Donald Roeser (Blue Oyster Cult)
You can see Dave Murray and Adrian Smith from Iron Maiden at the end of the solo. They played the harmony parts
in the chorus but no solo.
Geoff Tate killed this...
This was an awesome charity record featuring all the best rock/metal stars of the 80s ! Love it xx
I was a long haired Metal Head teen back in the 1980's. All of the Artists in this song are the true Metal scene musicians we worshipped as stoner parking lot kids, respectable adults now, but I still listen to all these artists now.
This it's still a great song❤
Lex absolutely has a musical soul. She really picks up on the emotion in the sound-- it's such a rare gift, and it's so cool to see it in someone else! You'd probably really dig some Joe Satriani instrumentals, and some of his contemporaries.
So much talent in one studio. I would have loved to be in there.
One of my favorite songs and I’m a genZrs. Oh man I missed the best rock times. Props for you two discovering quality music 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Dio was a great guy and he really cared to do this!!!!!
Well just seen David St. Hubbins from Spinal Tap, Must do Spinal Tap guys classic rock, and Mockumentary not to be missed 'This is Spinal Tap'
Omggggg. Thank you for this. Still have my vinyl and 12 inch single of this. DIOOOO
I remember when this came out just look at all the talent there is in this song so many famous rock stars
Ted Nugent, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tommy Aldridge and members of Dio, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Quiet Riot, Dokken, Mötley Crüe, Twisted Sister, Queensrÿche, Blue Öyster Cult, Vanilla Fudge, Y&T, Rough Cutt, Giuffria, Journey, W.A.S.P. and Night Ranger as well as the parody band Spinal Tap. Lead vocals were shared between Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford, Kevin DuBrow, Eric Bloom, Geoff Tate, Dave Meniketti, Don Dokken, and Paul Shortino. Vivian Campbell, Carlos Cavazo, Buck Dharma, Brad Gillis, Craig Goldy, George Lynch, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eddie Ojeda, and Neal Schon
Magical time in metal history. The first time I heard this was on a late night radio show called Metal Shop. Anybody remember it?
Yes. I would put on my head phones so the parents wouldn't hear. It was on Sunday night late. Good times.
WOOHOO!! FINALLY SOME ONE DID THIS ONE!! AND I'M GLAD IT WAS YOU TWO LEX IS BECOMING A METAL HEAD!!
Lex is already one lol
Yeah it took me 2 weeks of bugging them everyday to get them to react to this song
Brad u are rockin the Van Halen shirt! 🤘,,,
I have one too!
You guys nailed it!
The best of the best in Hardrock music!
Joe from Germany
You guys should watch the full documentary! It's on UA-cam.
When Lex said Who I That? - It was Geoff Tate from Queensryche
Still have the VHS...love this song. That vocal sound from the great singers is called vibrato. The blend of all their voices is harmony.
This fills my soul. Thank you 🙏🏻.
When you both watched the video for "USA for Africa" I was thinking about mention this metal version of a charity project. It seems like someone else did.
Yeah me for about 2 weeks of bugging them

YES!!!!
Y'all have to watch the MAKING OF STARS for this song. AWESOME!!!
hear 'n aid is the hard rock and metal answer to USA for africa and Band Aid.
I think it is time Lex heard some Yngwie Malmsteen...I think that was the goosebumps/different sounding guitar. He has a very different sound...kind of classical music metal.
"Malmsteen & Dio - Dream on" for example..
Hit the nail on the head with performers vs artists!
Geoff Tate lead singer of Queensryche, the one with the white jump suit and funky hair, really stands out with his performance.
FINALLY!!!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
The auditions are the best part of this...the best of the best came out for this complete jem.

I love Lexs genuine enthusiasm for ronnie James Dios voice.... she knows good music 4 sure.
There's a video of the vocalists/guitarists named as they're playing, somewhere here on youtube
Rob Halford ruled all in the we're stars chorus is voice just hits another level
That person that gave you goose bumps was George Lynch
I bought that record back in 1990... I found it in a discount bin in downtown São Paulo, Brazil. Those were the days of ultra fast picking and stuff... Guilty pleasure all the way
No need to feel guilty fella
Thanks for finally reacting to this
song that I requested
Classic! Seamless transitions, from a most remarkable group of musicians. Now this has really opened up, a massive, endless, rabbit hole, enjoy!
@@stephs.8134 I agree, but sadly probably 90% of people on here don't know him.
@@richard_n 90% of the public in 2021 don't know any of these guys, except maybe Ted Nugent
If I recall correctly, Ronnie Dio was instrumental in putting this project together. He was apparently a wonderful human being in every way.
Great shirt brad!
Geoff Tate of Queensryche when you said “That’s the rock thing” ….. more QR ….. TAKE HOLD OF THE FLAME
Yes Please!
What an original idea. No one had ever seen a large amount of music stars gathered together for an arbitrary cause before this, except for seven or eight times.
They finally got to hear some Yngwie Malmsteen.
Well, they haven't really missed out. That guy is all style and no substance. As is, all technique and no songs. The guy just can't write a decent song to save his life.

Brad, you're correct in your thinking, and they were down to earth for the most part!
Man y’all are the first reactors to do this song !
Yeah cuz I bugged them for 2 weeks to react to this song
This is what a song sounds like when the singers can SING. No autotune.
I can STILL name all the singers (in order) and 90% of the solos.... That was required being in a band back then... You had to know who was who :)
