Anyone remember the guitar instructional magazine "Guitar for the practicing musician?" I got a year subscription for Christmas 1984. I was 16 years old. The centerfold was a picture of all the singers in a choir formation for this song. That poster was on my wall until I moved out of my parents' house at age 20. I spent countless hours staring at that poster trying to put a name to all the faces. I got most of them but there were a few I could never get. What I wouldn't do to get that poster back. Thanks to whoever posted this. Great adolescent memories.

Honorable mention to Dave Meniketti , - a great singer and great guitarist. @ 19:44 whenever anyone records anything ever in the history of music, Dio's name will be on the wall.
What a great time this was the be alive, to be playing and enjoying music. A better time, one I am certainly glad to have experienced. This video just takes me back. I remember buying the single, the album, and this video back in the day. Say what you will about the look, but you can’t deny the talent, which is something sorely missing from what passes as music these days.
I stopped listening to music after about 1993.... The Grunge Era was the last great time for rock and roll! Alice in Chains, Nirvana and others were the last in the rock evolution!
V - Nirvana was hardly an evolution. It was 3-chord garage rock, born as an antidote for men in make-up and women’s clothes who could play 8 million mph, completely devoid of all emotion.

I'm trying not to tear up... 😢 How the hell did we go from that to what we have today? Sure, people like Vince almost died and we actually lost Randy Rhodes but, the lessons were learned due to people admitting faults and sharing resource publicly. Foo Fighters is all we have left, for the most part... We need awesome people to take back the spotlight! All of these musicians are God's.
You can tell that distinct Maiden guitar sound when it kicks in. Murray and Smith definitely have a great chemistry. Everyone who was part of this project had something distinctive they brought to the table. They were all talented.
You can not help but absolutely love Ronnie, bless his soul. Some amazing voices on here but I can't get over Halfords voice... No wonder they call him the Metal God
All the guitarists were amazing - I'm a long time fan of Vivian Campbell - but Yngwie, and the Maiden twins Dave and Adrian really stood out! If only Randy could have been there :(
Randy was missing, so was Eddie. Nikki, Tommy and there's so much more that aren't here. When I saw Vince and Mick, I immediately thought "where's Nikki and Tommy"
That was awesome. RIP Dio. Would have loved to hear paul stanley on that. Even Vince neil on a verse would been cool. As well as Blackie and nugent. That easily could have been a 10 minute song with more Solos, drum Solos and more verses but non the less it was incredible and for a great cause.
Yeah Vince Neil saying oh we don't party all the time, we're not evil people, then a few years later he's drugged/boozed up and drives his friend 100mph right into a telephone pole killing him. So very much Hypocrisy in this video although it's great. Also Blacky Lawless, really?LOL Total drug head.......most were stoned during the making of this, or drunk as well.
The fact that there might be recordings of each vocalist singing the entire song is something I would like to hear.

2019 and still got the chills.................so lucky i was alive back then
I agree zak. A few of these guys have passed. But never forgotten. I grew up in the best era of rock & roll. Unforgettable concerts and great days.
Halford and Dio..that's all you need.
@Jagstar Damn... The Holy Trinity..... Halford/Dio/Diamond....
@Jagstar Absolutely Mate!!! Climate change in the space of one week.... be awesome to witness that concert!!!
Halford, Dio, Geoff Tate, and Blackie Lawless. The absolute best
Halford and Dio, Schonn and Lynch - that would be enough.
Two shot of legend
17:43 - 18:40 A buncha heavy metal muppets looking simultaneously over-dramatic and tired as hell. I love it. It's always a good time when the members of Spinal Tap are the most reasonable looking guys at the party. They don't make characters like this anymore.
Honorable mention to Dave Meniketti
, - a great singer and great guitarist. @ 19:44 whenever anyone records anything ever in the history of music, Dio's name will be on the wall.
Sadly, Dave never seems to get his due... He starts the vocals and ends them on this... 😉
Unforgettable. All my heroes reunited by a noble cause. And It bring tears In my eyes.
Seeing the behind the scenes takes it to a whole new level. The repeats and the mistakes and the cuts, those guys work.
Damn straight, james thomas. Stay cool🤓
I miss those days I was about 14 or 15 then best years ever and Ronnie James Dio what a class act
Me too. The absolute greatest decade ever and oh how I wish I could go back and visit the 80’s just one last time. “The good-ol days”🤘🤘🤘
Grazie Ronnie.
This showcases how good the music and musicians were in the 1980's metal scene
we have lost this in ourselves... we are amazing humans, the Empathy and coordination from Ronny, the genuineness of everyone involved, just so amazing, it breaks my heart to see everyone, There is so much talent in that room, God Bless all the amazing souls who participated, Thank you
I love how everyone shows up in normal clothes and Rob shows up in his weird low shirt and spiked leather bracelets
It was a pleasure to not only audition for Ronnie but to meet the man! I will always love and miss you Ronnie ❤
RIP Ronnie. Love you forever, for this and for all your work. ❤
Nai ah Dio angar na? He's my favorite
Found this album at an estate sale at an elderly persons home in a box filled with old frank sinatra, nat king cole, bing crosby albums! Never thought in a million years i would find anything "metal" in that box of albums. But i said, "what the hell, im already here, might as well look just incase there is something i might like!" Man...out of that whole box of old albums i found this vinyl record in excellent condition! I couldnt beleive it! I bought it for $1.00! Best find of the year! R.I.P Ronnie James Dio!!! Thank you for all the great music!!!
11:12 RJD smoking a cigarette as Buck Dharma plays in the foreground in front of the board? No way! I've seen Jackie Wilson, Robert Plant, and now Ronnie smoking! It must be the REAL secret to great vocals!!!
Alcohol is way worse than smoking for voices.
Dave Meniketti... wow what a voice!
Eric Bloom.. my gosh what a voice
Right-on!!!! Criminally underrated, I think!!!! My personal favorite!!!! ;-) I was fortunate to have met Eric Bloom & got a picture w/him & autograph @ a B.O.C. gig. (Mohegan Sun, CT , 2006)
Bloom is way underrated and has a magnificent voice and one hell of a crooner
@@jonesy2111 still sounds good
The talent here is beyond words, a young Don Dokken to a seasoned Ronnie James Dio.... This was truly once in a lifetime.
Agree
Kevin Killed It. What A Magnificent Voice
He did
Awesome, awesome singer. One of the best, for me 🤘🏻🔥
hahah Dio telling Dokken he's too smooth. Hell, against Dio's gravel, nearly everyone is too smooth. DuBrow was killin it tho.
That's because Dokken doesn't have a strong voice and sings through his nose.
TruthSurge dokken was awsome tho
Gerber Bernstein yes but that scorpions nasal voice is awsome...unchain the night,Alone again ,heaven scent,Kiss of Death etc etc..Hes better than alotta those guys in that room
Well that's the appeal of Dokken's music, really
TruthSurge fuck dubrow was better than dio and i never thought I'd say that in my life
"I like the way he puts Yngwie J. Malmsteen on his albums, so you don't confuse him with the other Yngwie Malmsteen's in the business" Pure gold.
This is what “A Choir of awesome” sounds like.
Kevin Dubrow, highly underrated!!!
R.I.P.
Definitely
@@robertschaffer1598 agreed such a powerful voice
Wow I've looked for this for ages!!! Thankyou!!! It's more EPIC than even I remember!!! Damn the names in this vid is biblical!!! R.I.P Ronnie... we miss you!!!
Halford is amazing. You can absolutely hear him over everyone else. 1. Halford 2. Dio 3. Kevin Dubrow (suprised how good he sounded) 4. Tate
Just my opinion. Such an awesome time to have lived, glad I was high school years in the 80's
WoW Neal Schon kicked ass on that guitar solo
Yngwie said that of all the guitar players that session Neal Schon was the best! I should know, I'm from the '80's
I read somewhere that Neal was not feeling well and nearly didn't make the session. Ronnie gave Neal a call and told him he was one of his "main guys" and compelled Neal to rally. So glad that happened! Rock on \m/
@@Tauron68 too bad Dave meniketti didn't get to solo....he opened up after ronnie s line though...
@MESSENGER 01 Dave still going strong. And at 64 his voice is fantastic. Plays 2 plus hours with no break. Y&t put on a great show. I see em every year
@@johnnyrokkit UN ESCOPETAZO DIRECTO A LA ÑATA Y LA HIZO...
It's nice to hear Dave & Adrian all the way till the end!🎸🎸
Iron Maidens rhythm section is the best of all time in my book, and Zeppelin is my favorite band
Marcos Colon - Rush, anyone? Yes?John Macaluso and Randy Coven on Ark’s Burn The Sun? Okay, I might’ve taken it too far...
Neil shcon solo over them is perfect at the end
When i was young this song drove me crazy and still. A couple of months ago finally added that vinyl to my collection.
I love that harmony Iron Maiden did, unreal.
Most are all out shredding but in typical maiden fashion they do it a bit different. Murray and Smith, Best guitar duo ever IMO
Adrian did an interview about it recently and said they didn't want to shred but offer something tasteful to it. And they did well.
Bloody hell, how great was Halfords vocal on this!
got here by accident but really enjoyed it. Ronnie James Dio was a truly amazing artist - one of the best in history
Jesus Christ, there was a lot of hair in that room....
Yeah. You certainly didn't wanna light a match inside that building!
hey man! that's not you, tho, right? red hair, spandex, hey have you spoke with clay, sorry i missed you guys that night, new year's eve, dang it! best party we ever had, and i miss'd the shit! the last night of 1986... man, it woulda been more fun at the house ... but it was the beginning of a very long story! long-story-short: i shoulda made you guys play some frickin' black sabbath, some effin' judas frickin' priest! sad wings of destiny... and journey! *why* did we not play some of that stuff! one i really liked tho, was 'somebody' by bryan adams, that one was great... i found the video which i had never seen, i never even heard a good recording of the song, but adams is great... mellencamp as well... my favorite mellencamp track is 'human wheels' there's somethin' about that drummer, he's got some magic , but then so did teceno! i never saw teceno after 1987 , did you ever find him? a better drummer, we never could've found, man! hot tub time machine!!
thought the same thing!!
@@jeffn.918 Rob Halford would have been the only survivor
Inviting Spinal Tap is just superb!!
unforgettable Dio, the best rock vocal ever!
I saw this when it 1st came out. Brings back great memories. I still have it on VHS 😎
Love this so much we have lost a lot of the people involved but we will never forget what you did for the world :-)
Seeing Halford and Dio standing together in the studio, quite a sight.Just Iconic.
The Best music in History!!!!, God Rest your Soul Ronnie!!🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Thank you for the music RJD 🤘, Kevin 🎤Jimmy 🎸 & Frankie 🥁 forever shining stars 🌟
The fact that they raised $742 for such a good cause still inspires me.
I still have the VHS tape of Hear N Aid...🤘🤘🥃
I'm trying not to tear up... 😢
How the hell did we go from that to what we have today? Sure, people like Vince almost died and we actually lost Randy Rhodes but, the lessons were learned due to people admitting faults and sharing resource publicly.
Foo Fighters is all we have left, for the most part... We need awesome people to take back the spotlight! All of these musicians are God's.
Rhoads
The good die young
You can tell that distinct Maiden guitar sound when it kicks in. Murray and Smith definitely have a great chemistry.
Everyone who was part of this project had something distinctive they brought to the table. They were all talented.
You can not help but absolutely love Ronnie, bless his soul. Some amazing voices on here but I can't get over Halfords voice... No wonder they call him the Metal God
Thanks for the upload brother, it brought back some incredible memories from my childhood in New Zealand!!!
Dave and Adrian sadly are not actually playing on the final record.
@@KeremcanBuyuktaskin Oh, gosh, I didn't know that! That is a shame.
@@KeremcanBuyuktaskin how do you know?
What about Eddie Van Halen? I wonder if he was invited or not.
This is so awesome ..And what a great group ....:-D RIP Ronnie James Dio ...You are a Legend
Dio could sing the phone book and I would be enthralled.
The legend will never die
That was awesome. RIP Dio. Would have loved to hear paul stanley on that. Even Vince neil on a verse would been cool. As well as Blackie and nugent. That easily could have been a 10 minute song with more Solos, drum Solos and more verses but non the less it was incredible and for a great cause.
all these amazing musicians together is something I wish I around to witness.
Vince Neil out-spinal-taps Spinal Tap
LMAO
Hahahaha YEP lol so true
You just defined Vince Neil like no one has before!
Damn, you won the internet!
