    Can you do this test moving just the adjustable weight in the ping g430 from centre to draw to fade setting to see how much difference it makes.

    Every one of my irons has lead tape on them. Helps me make sure my swingweight is perfect and I generally put it a little on the toe to help fight an overdraw.

      I have 5g lead strip in centre bottom 7i- PW. ( SRIXON i- 403 ad irons. With stiff graphite shafts) it raises the swing weight enough to stop me casting the club too early.
      Works brilliant.

    This is nitpicking, but this didn't really answer the question posed in the video's title. It's a great demonstration of the fact that adding weight to different parts of the driver affects performance, but we didn't see how much weight you have to add before it actually changes performance as opposed to merely changing how the club feels. You went from zero straight to 15.5 grams...that leaves a lot of room in between.

      @@JojohnWick just pointing out that they didn't really address the question that got me here in the first place. That can be the difference between, "Yes, I'll subscribe to this channel and like this video", and "Well, I guess I can ignore the rest of their content." I figured people who are trying to attract an audience by answering questions about golf might appreciate feedback on whether or not their prospective audience actually found their answer satisfactory. Yeah, it's free content...but so is just about everything else on this platform, which means they need to stand out somehow if they want to maintain an audience.

    If you pause the frames that show the flight of the draw and fade with the same camera angle, you'll see that the fade starts to the left - a pull - while the draw starts to the right - a push. I don't see how this can happen. If the swing plane is the same, the face should be open to produce a fade and closed to produce a draw. Consequently, the draw should start to the left (because of the closed face) compared to the fade. (with the open face). But it doesn't. Something is strange.
    Also, putting that much weight on the toe/heel will change the sweet spot toward the side of the lead tape. If the club hits the ball in the same place, the change in sweet spot will then produce a gear effect causing the ball to draw/fade just as it did in the video. So, is that why the ball fades/draws? If so, an actual golfer is likely to adjust their swing to find the sweet spot so that there will be no gear effect.
    In other words, I can't figure out why, for example, the ball draws/fades with weight on the heel/toe. If it's because the face closes/opens more easily, then the fade should start to the right of the draw. But that doesn't happen. If it's because of the gear effect (as I mention above), then the average golfer is likely to compensate - that is, find the new sweet spot.

    At 6:42....."the heel (weighting) allows that club face to close". I don't think so. It is NOT a "closed" face angle at impact that causes right to left spin. A closed (to the path) club face will merely hit a pull. It is the increased GEAR EFFECT of the increased heel weighting that causes right to left spin.

    • @Pwilli-hs6yi
      @Pwilli-hs6yi Рік тому

      FINALLY. Someone who knows what they are talking about. I could never figure out how weight in the heel goes left, weight in the toe goes right.
      GEAR EFFECT! of course.
      Same as playing pool when you want to spin the ball left to right you hit left of centre and it spins to the right.
      Thank you.😊

      I disagree. A face closed to path causes a left curve for right handed player

    • @sstone01
      @sstone01 2 місяці тому +1

      A closed club face relative to the swing path will produce a left curve. A straight club face to the same swing path will just hit a straight shot, but left of target ( or a pull in other words). opposite is true of course for an open club face. the confusion is when golfers mistake square to path vs target. if your coming over the top with a square club face to your new path, it will just be a straight pull with no draw.

    This test is entirely dependent on how the robot turns the face over. If the robot holds the face angle fixed through the swing tape shouldn’t make any difference. I could see the launch angle changing though.

  • @garylawrence7547
    @garylawrence7547 7 місяців тому

    This test with the robot is absolutely the only way you can see the true effect of the tape. Doing the same with a human golfer would be inclusive due to variations in the way the ball is struck.
