- Less than two weeks prior to filming this, I had open heart surgery. This clearly will make things more complicated around the homestead. What can I do? Can we continue? Will the homestead fail? I will give you details on how much I can do, what we will do, and what we look forward to doing. Plus, a very special announcement for our subscribers!

In the immortal words of Keanu Reeves "Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Shucking sunflower seeds lasts forever". Glad you're doing well brother. God is good.
Haha
I bet them pigs would love the sunflowers. Either before OR after you get the seeds out of them.
Keep the dad jokes coming B. Bigger, better, stronger and faster. Rock on Flannelnator Rex!
😃🌱🐢
Thrilled that your STILL with us, and more importantly with your family 😊
Much Love From North Carolina
Thank you Michelle!
Ahh! I forgot to mention that Mr. Rooster agrees too! 😅
Aww! We're SO happy to see you and your lovely family doing well! And it looks like God has provided lots of light busy work while you gain strength. 🙏❤
I am so happy you are doing well! Take your time and heal. We appreciate your channel, and your flannel.
So glad your out and about. Glad you feel like harvesting sunflowers 😂 I’ve got some mammoth sunflowers growing I don’t think the doctor would allow you to pick lol
Nice
Oh you butthead. You made me weepy. So wonderful to see the whole fam, and to see you doing so well. Make sure to cut and stack those sunflower stalks for Jason at Green Country Agroforestry's sunflower competition! :) And I think that God gave you the perfect way to be able to slow down and still take care of the homestead - sunflower seed harvesting. It's the little things, dude. And thanks for the piglet update! They are so flippin' cute! You deserve some chamomile tonight. :)
Thanks Faith
Congrats on the successful surgery. God is good. Neat to hear of the support that came from the flannel followers. Continuing to pray for your recovery.
Thank you!!! This was great to watch. Love seeing you up and about and wonderful to see all the Flannels. GOD bless y'all.
Nice scar, Bryan. I liken it to being cracked open like an oyster. Ten weeks out from bypass surgery so my scar is looking about as good as it possibly can.
I call it my Zimbabwe Zipper!
oh for pete sake, let's compare scars... are we already becoming our parents????? OH NOOOOOOO😉🖖 so happy things went well. mrs flannel, look forward to years of scar wars🤭
Yep, all of a sudden I'm old!
Glad you to see you up and moving around! We'll pray for your continued recovery!
You are looking and sound good. God is so great! Still praying for y'all. We loved your shots of you throwing the sunflowers- made us lol. God bless y'all and make to follow the doc's orders. 😊
Glad to see you doing so well. And your sunflower chunkin’ is excellent! Wishing you and the flannel family all the best. Thank you for letting us be a little part of your journey. Continued prayers for a smooth recovery.
I cant make it because ill be milking but glad to see your still around and looks like doing good!
It is just a premiere, you can catch up anytime. Have fun with the milking :)
You look like you’re doing so well. I can’t make an 8 o’clock live stream, but I’ll definitely catch it later. 🙏
Praise God ! My wife and I will continue praying for you guys ! The Lord is good and his mercy endures forever !!!
Amen and thank you
Best wishes for your recovery Sir. Take care of yourself your family needs you more than you know. You are in our prayers each day. Be well warrior grow well 🌱
I’m so glad your home. This is a very warm video…blessings to you. I cracked up with you tossing the sunflower’s.
Brian, you (and the family) look great, and we are so happy all is going well. We will continue to pray for you and your recovery! God bless the Flannel family!!
You look like you’re moving easily… so awesome to see. Just don’t push the limits too soon, it’s very tempting and easy to do. See you next time 👍
Proof of the almighty! So glad all went well, and know it's challenging currently, but Jesus is in control and has you and us in his hands. :)
Amen!
I read The Catcher in the Rye. Now I have watched The Pitcher in the Sunflowers. I like this one better. 😀
OMGOSH!! WE ARE TOO!
Welcome to the zipper club. My you recovery be complete and speedy.
I am so very glad our prayers have brought you comfort and that you are well and joking. Never lose your sense of humor or your faith❤️
Sorry you lost the two runts. But so happy to see you up and about! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 God is so good!
Incision is looking fantastic! Might do a quick search on Vitamin E and scar recovery! 😊😊
Will do!
@@FlannelFarms Brian, you and David...your sense of humor keeps me rolling. 🤣🤣Now, eh-hem. 20 pounds includes pressure- oh like heaving out a chicken nesting box. You have to remember that 20 pounds to someone like you, might only feel like..5. I can tell already you are 99% improved! Now, just how many of those heads did you snip and sling? 🤣
Good point lol. I cut about 10 today and got bored
@@FlannelFarms 😆
Hmmm, only 10 and bored... This will be a lonnnng harvest if the Finches don't get them first!!!
You can cut the stems and hang them upside down in groups in your barn. Then feed them dry to your animals. Much easier, and more food and nutrition for them!
Thank you for the wonderful message, Brian! I'm so happy you are back and recuperating well. You and your wonderful family are amazing. Keep inspiring us all!
Thanks Leo!
Love the Flannels. One of the best endings I have seen maybe ever. Glad to know God isn't done with the Zimbabwe Zipper. Blessings from the yonders in Arkansas.
Thank you :)
Heck yeah
Whoa! That Frankenflannel scar is so much cooler than a tattoo. Praise God for His grace and mercy. So good to see you up and about. TAKE IT EASY! ❤️
OKAY! (maybe) haha. Honestly I am, when I feel tired I sit, when I get sleepy I sleep. I'm not pushing anything.
When you get that bucket full of sun flowers it will be over 20#!
My best friend had to have open heart surgery 4yrs ago. Be careful of loud bangs like car back firing ore fireworks for a bit. She had to travel with a little pillow to hold to her chest when around these things... glad you made it and I pray for many more years for you to have with your family and kids.
Thank you
So glad you're doing well. Mend up. Yaweh will provide. ❤
Woo WHO!!! Thank YOU, LORD!!!
so happy to see you doing so well! God is Good!!!
You look as amazing as you are blessed. ❤❤❤❤❤🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
So happy to see you up and around again! Keeping all ya'll in my prayers!
Glad you’re back in the saddle bro!
Thank you my friend!
Thanks for the update. So glad all is going well. God is good.
Good to see you being your hylarous self! Glad your feeling good! Thank you! Bless you!
Glad you are doing good! God is great all the time. All thanks to Our Savior. It’s so nice to have such a wonderful family and a wonderful community to jump in and lend a hand or buy the necessities for you. Keep on keeping on.
You look marvelous! Yah bless you dear friend. ❤
It is so great to see you 🙏🙏🙏
So glad you are doing well. Prayers for a speedy recovery. Please take it easy and allow your body time to heal.
So glad to see you back! Take it easy and get fully healed!
Great news on your recovery ❤️🩹 nice family shot at the end 🙏
Good to see you up and around. Take it easy. God Bless!
Also, your Sunflower harvesting technique is pretty good, but will need a little more speed!!!
So happy to hear!!! ❤️
If the sunflowers are for animal feed, you don't have to remove the seeds from the heads. The animals will take care of that, or eat the whole thing -- and you can give the stalks to any animals big enough to eat them.
So glad you are doing well -- that's an answer to prayer. It's hard for you, but you know what? There are lots of us operating with permanent disabilities (bad back, in my case), and many more with temporary issues. Maybe you can come up with ideas to help make things easier around the homestead for people who have more limits on what they can do?
I was thinking of that while filming, thinking that folks have a much harder time than I do and it is permanent. I'll see what I come up with.
wishing you all a day filled with love and peace
Know that Abba has had everything in his control. He has carried you and your family through this and will continue. Know that those of us that have been watching have been lifting you up in prayer. We will continue.
Thank you Mindy
I literally 😂 with the dad jokes and the running sunflower gag. So happy you’re doing well and the fam as well. Sorry about the piggies that didn’t make it. Be careful with pulling the hoses I’m concerned that all the length added up plus water weight may be out of the limits.
I won't do it with water in them, but good point :)
Glad you are doing well.
Glad to see you are feeling well enough to be up and about around the farm ❤️ and glad your sense of humor is still intact during this difficult time.. it will get you through! 🤣
I harvest and pick through seeds by hand here, too.. it's meditative work 🙏🏽 ..a nice change sometimes from all the running around and doing all the time.
Many blessings to you and your family!!
Good point, I should try that mindset. Put on some classical music and zone out for a bit.
Good to see you are up and around and recovering well. Prayers answered! I know it’s hard to remember not to lift more than 20lbs too. You just want to get back out there and work!
It is, but I'm doing my best not to find the limits.
Glad to see you doing so well ! God is good !
So glad to see you up and around! ❤
I have seen somewhere where they've taken a bicycle put it upside down and as the back wheel is turning they put the sunflower heads up against the spokes and it knocks the kernels off. Just don't get your fingers in there. By the way, welcome back.
Interesting, and thank you.
❤❤❤❤Glory to God during your recovery! ❤❤❤❤
SO good to see you up and about, you are looking well (all considering!) will be good to see the colour return to your face as you continue to heal. Take it easy, don't push too hard! Love the flannel family gathering at the end. Much love from ol' kiwi land - Dana
Thanks Dana, slow and steady. :)
Wear that scar well, my friend. We are both in the 'Zipper club'. It took me months to get my hands over my head fully. The sunflower throwing reminds of how hard it was. That's exactly how I felt. Glad you're back!
Thank you my friend
Hello there you look like a new man and you still have your humour take it easy lots of love from Australia 🙏🙏🙏🙏
So thankful to have found your channel some time ago. Enjoy your sense of humor and knowing you’re a man of faith. Enjoyed seeing your beautiful family and wish you a speedy and full recovery. ❤
Thanks so much Donna!
I’m in tears, sooo glad to hear your great progress! Lovely family! God bless
Thank you, God bless you as well :)
Surgery recovery fund. So glad that you are on the road to recovery!
Thank you Karen
@@FlannelFarms 😘😘😘
So glad to see ya back on Flannel Farms Brian!😁👍🤣at you in the Sunflower Patch, reminded me of Henry Gibson doing his quotes on Rowan & Martin's Laugh in! 😂🌻🌻
Haha!
Awe ❤️ Yay!!!!!
So very glad to see you!
From a Flannel Fan here in Australia, it's great to see this video ❤ Please take good care - sounds like my hubby had very similar surgery - 8 years on & you'd never know he'd given us such a scare! Stay strong & walk in truth fren ❤️
Thank you! That is encouraging and I'm sure it will encourage Mrs. Flannel!
Praise God! It is so good to see you and your family doing so well! I copied your sunflower idea. Mine are just sprouting. I hope mine do as well as yours. Looks like you are thrilled about harvesting them. :)
Wonderful! I'd love to see pictures if you'd email them to me!
Good luck with your recovery ❤️🩹
Thank you for the update and for the laughs 😅 Glad you're doing good. Slow and steady wins the race. Checking on those chickens was probably a little too close to the limit ❤❤❤
Maaaaaybe.
Praise the Lord he’s giving you more time to serve him! God bless you and all those you reach.
Thank you my friend
Good to see you up and about
Ok. The sunflowers are edible. All of the plant..my chickens love the leaves n stacking the stems for the pigs 😊 too much bending for you but the kids can help? THANK YOU LORD FOR PRAYERS ANSWERED
Yes, they could help. I'll chuck a stalk or two to the cows and pigs and see what happens.
I'm jealous.. I'm 7 weeks passed a rotator cuff rebuild.
Standard recovery to even start weight bearing exercises is significantly longer than your schedule and progress.
Sorry man, and it is nuts how fast I've been allowed to do things
@@FlannelFarms .. however, just to be fair, I am significantly ahead of the expected recovery cycle according to both my surgeon and physical therapist.
And I turn 70 in a few weeks.
Keep up the good fight my friend
I've only been watching for a short time. Happy to see your on the mend. Love your channel & the flannel . 😊
Thank you my friend, glad to have you.
@@FlannelFarms Your very welcome.
God is good all the time. So glad you and the fam are doing well!
Amen, and thanks Meg :)
Your a savage my man!
Hey I’m reading a book, Native American gardening and I just read about how they harvested sunflower seeds, they would dry them out and lay them seed side down on a hide and beat them with sticks, maybe try it but with a tarp or something 🤷🏻♀️🌻
Hmm, I like that.
@@FlannelFarms I don’t know about your kids but mine would definitely like doing it that way 😂
God is Great!
glad your okay !!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🤗
You're now a member of the "zipper club"... The scar will fade quick.
I've called it the Zimbabwe Zipper! Like a columbian necktie lol
Love you guys ❤
Love you too Jennie!
A wire brush on a drill makes sunflower seed harvest SO SO much easier......ask me how I know 😂
Woo, it doesn't shred the seeds?
There is a learning curve. I was shucking seeds bare handed and shredded my thumbs, which is when I went looking for another way. Gloves was an improvement, but THEN. I found it worked well enough with a light touch. My alternate was a wide paddle bit. Clamp the flower head so it is facing you over a tarp and go to it. You may need to make a scrap wood flower head jig for the cleaning part. Every so often, sweep up the seeds and "bucketize" them.
I missed the premiere! Dang it.
Been working on a mural (I'm an artist by trade) and the heat here in Texas has been oppressive. It cooked my brain so I blame that for missing the premiere.
No worries my friend. We can hang out Saturday
Ain’t open heart surgery so great? I’ve had two, and I dunno about you, but I got a section of my heart removed and a valve also replaced. Get ready for the itchy tingles in your chest when the nerves begin to reconnect.
The itch has been the worst!
Glad you're still with us my friend.
😂 🌻 throwing 😜
I had fun with that
@@FlannelFarms i had fun watching you have fun! 😆 Laughter the great medicine!
I dont think I knew about that last one. I'm glad Gods not done with u
So glad to see you back and recovering. 🌻
