As a resident of WV you better be very careful about trespassing in abandoned trailers. Many times the family is living in a nicer trailer or home within sight of these places, owning lots on opposite sides of the road. These people will not hesitate to confront you with their closest gun. Especially if they are hiding drugs in the 'abandoned' building.
Fascinating to think that these were people's homes at one time. People lived their lives in these trailers, raised kids there and now they're all gone. One has to wonder what happened to them.
Dan. Once you answered my question during one of your instagram lives and I felt like i got recognized by a celebrity. Your film style and vision are something I can’t find anywhere else, and would never want to. I’ve loved your videos for years. Never stop what you’re doing! Stay safe always
Checking out an abandoned mobile home on the side of the road in West Virginia takes guts. I would have been afraid of finding a stash of meth or getting shot at with a shotgun.
Honestly, Dan, I feel like you could explore the entire state of West Virginia and still miss abandoned homes. It seems to me like it's a state where nobody lives anymore.
@@Mlotshaw1 Yes, I'm aware of that. But it seems that 80% of West Virginia is small, abandoned towns. A lot of it reminds me of Iowa, where I lived for 12 years.
@Karma Black Your biggest is still less than 50,000 people, so more like a town than a city. Back in 1950, McDowell County, WV had nearly 100,000 people, but today it has less than 18,000.
Dan thank you so much for the videos you make, when I get notifications that you’ve posted or gone live I get really excited! I’ve been going through some health issues since 2018 (Jesus that’s a long time) and your videos have always gotten me through whether it’s new uploads or rewatching older videos. Again appreciate you ❤
Dan thank you, but please be extra careful when you see rattlesnake skin. My great grandma was told by an exterminator that baby rattlers do not know how much venom to release and are more dangerous than adults. If you stepped in a nest it would of been horrible. stay safe!
I was hoping when you looked in the mailbox you would edit in a sponsorship ad like that's what was in the mailbox lol I'm glad you didn't open that container, though, I bet it is *gnarly* inside
Snakes are good nice to have around.. they eat al the nasty… it’s a black rat snake btw… super friendly snake won’t bite and if you make it bite you it’s non-venomous
I was going to say, those aren't rattlesnake sheds. 100% dead on. Rat snakes. It's funny how many people don't realize that, more than likely if you have a house in a rural area, a snake is probably within the detectable range of your person. Above, below, or beside.
My dad grew up working on a dairy farm in Beaufort, SC. They would purposely introduce ratsnakes into the livestock buildings and barns- and even the ranch house (not even joking) to keep mice populations in check. A black rat snake is a safe, polite, and hidden guest. Rodents are not.
Well, I guess all those snakes are keeping the rodents out. Thanks for the video! And yes, I saw the eyes in the mailbox as well and was thinking "no, don't reach in, don't reach in". 😁😁
I only been inside one of these types of trailers.. it was a singlewide and was probably placed there in the 50's judging by the style and it was stripped clean of furniture.. it was an auction thing.. It was worth only $1500 in back taxes.. but someone bid $2500 on it thinking it was a great investment.. Then he found out that the trailer was on less than an acre of land and the water source was on someone's property (My family property) and he outbid us.. it was my grandmothers trailer.. well he pretty much stripped it clean.. took out all windows and doors and left them all to rot. But he had the nerve to place items in the shed, which wasn't on his property.. so I took them. I did the same with my aunt's house, before she died, I went through the attic and took whatever I wanted.. It was family stuff mostly.. but I found some things I could sell. But the best thing I ever found was finding 20 Vermont license plates ranging from 1950-1959 in pristine condition, though 3 of them were bent and rusted but for the pristine ones, someone paid me a total of $350 ($15 each) and to think I found them buried in the ground under a plastic tarp.
This makes me rather sad. West Virginia is a sad state. Seems like the kind of place that really shouldn't exist when you have places like this and people living in them. You should send this to the governor Jim Justice's competition in the next election something. Shame on him. Shame on all of their congresspeople, shame on their senators, shame on all of them for letting this happen.

No but it worked! 😉
I saw the eyes! I wonder what it was?
Hello Dan 👋
Cat: what are you doing in my house?
Omg... I didn't notice until I went back and looked, but yeah it really does look like two eyes... Probably a mouse?? Super creepy regardless!

Not to mention squatters.

Probably moved to another trailer park or bought a home never know exactly for sure theres all possibilities
They done married their cousins I’m sure a few are in prison for domestic violence or meth.

Be careful, in West Virginia those mobile homes look average and lived in….you’ll be greeted with a 12 gauge. Safer in downtown cities.
Dan casually: “There’s a gun.”
Those older mobile homes are built 20 times better than what you can buy nowadays. Loved the video!
2016 WV experienced a 1000 year flood. These trailers are beside a river. Residents most likely had no choice in leaving.
So glad Dan finally found a new home 🙏
HAHA, Dillon is just so like chill..."Ooh Ok, snakes possibly underneath us.." 🤣🤣

Snake skin....yikes that would be it for me. Hell no.

Hi Dan! Thanks for the video.

love how dan says "theres a gun" just as like he seen 100s on his travels

That gun is as real as Dylan Mulvaney.
The Snakeskin Trailer Motel was interesting. The warped melted speaker looked like it came from the twilight zone. Thanks Dan. Take Care.

Fun fact
Skanky rattlesnake was the name of my high school funk band.

terrifying. snakes are attracted to creeks and water in general. And they swim well.
Did you start hearing banjos and run for the car?
