Cookie Decorating 101 | The Perfect Cookie Dough

  • Hi sweet friends! Welcome back to my channel and thank you so much for being patient with me while I take some time off during my pregnancy. Today we are starting a new series called COOKIE DECORATING 101. In this first video we will go over making the perfect cookie dough and how to incorporate cookies into your baking sweets business.

    Vanilla Sugar Cookie Dough
    ✨ 1 cup room temperature butter unsalted (if using salted half the amount of salt in the recipe)
    ✨ 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
    -place room temperature butter and granulated sugar into a mixing bowl and mix until both ingredients become fluffy and lose a bit of the yellow color, this usually takes approximately 3-4 minutes.
    ✨ 1 cold egg
    ✨ 1 tablespoon vanilla
    ✨ 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
    -add in cold egg, this will help to make sure your cookies dough is not too soft or too tough, during this time also add in the vanilla and almond extract and mix until these ingredients incorporate. Make sure to stop the mixer from time to time to scrape the sides of the bowl to ensure all ingredients are well combined.
    ✨ 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
    ✨ 1/4 teaspoon salt
    ✨ 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
    -measure out your flour using a smaller scoop to fill your bigger scoop, this will help to make sure you are not grabbing more or less flour than you need. Once you have the 3 1/2 cups, place them in a bowl and add in the rest of the dry ingredients; salt and baking powder, and whisk them to combine. Scoop in your flour a little at a time and before adding more flour make sure the one your previously scooped has incorporated fully into the butter mixture. Your dough will go through stages, so be sure to be patient. It will look sandy and a bit dry but make sure to keep mixing, if you need to knead the dough by hand do that but make sure to be patient as the dough will come together. When the dough starts to separate from the sides of the bowl that means that it is ready to be used. Check the tutorial video for a visual on consistency.
    ✨ BAKE 325 12-15 minutes

    Thank you so much! Ive been looking for a no spread cookie recipe,the one ive been using started to spread and I don’t know why,but I noticed on your recipe you don’t use alot of baking powder,so maybe that is the trick to no spread. !!! Thanks i will definitely give it a try.
