This birthday special was really big. Nickelodeon did everything they could to make this 20th anniversary episode as special as it could be. They got celebrity guest stars like Kel Mitchell, David Hasselhoff, Sigourney Weaver, the list goes on. They even got the entire cast to play the live action versions of their characters. Imo, this was unforgettable and unbelievable.
This is a better anniversary special than "Truth or Square" which was more in your face of the whole anniversary thing. You could even argue this episode is like The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water where there's a cartoon plot and a live-action subplot. But then both the cartoon and live-action plots end up interacting with each other and connecting near the end which is very rare for SpongeBob.
@@t00nedd00d Yeah I know SpongeBob interacts with Patchy again in "SpongeBob's Road to Christmas," but Patchy is in animated form in that episode so I'm not giving it a pass.
@andykishoresothertvstuff5759 ya know. But this Comment.came out 7 ours ago And usually people tend to include People who Play rolls and shows and movies. When they passed away. Even after the episode comes out.
SpongeBob's birth was on July 14, 1986 according to the driver's license in "Sleepy Time" which is the closet we get to having an exact age on SpongeBob since "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout" doesn't tell us his age at the end, very deliberately so. Even though other characters like Barnacle Boy and Pearl have no problem stating their exact age number in the show, but whatever.
Spongebob's birthday blowout was awesome. The voice actors played as themselves was fantastic. I love seeing all of the guest stars in the episode. Stephen Hillenburg's message in the end will be remembered 🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳😢😢😢🤣🤣🤣
I love the fact that Plankton in newer seasons is now a genuine friend in SpongeBob's social circle who just happens to have mischievous motives every now and then, instead of remaining as a purely antagonistic force
Not gonna lie, but this was one of my favorite episodes of the modern era. Nickelodeon really did all they could to make this 20th anniversary as a special it could really be. They had a lot of celebrity guests stars like Kel Mitchell, David Hasselhoff, JoJo Siwa, Tiffany Haddish and many more. I also love how they brought back all the old characters from the classic episodes, including the movies. RIP to the creator of the show Stephen Hillenburg. (1961-2018)
16:11 Yeah, the reason why Slappy is weird is because he’s actually supposed to be reference to a very old actor named Peter Lorre. He’s been in some very classic movies like M, Casablanca, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
This episode is adorable, so many cameos from characters AND celebrities, and it’s super wholesome to see Squidward, Plankton and Bubble Bass actually help plan SpongeBob’s party. Reminds me of old Popeye cartoons where he and Bluto just chilled out as pals despite being enemies, or how Mario and Bowser go kart racing together.
32:42 if you watch the Alex bale The flying Dutchman theory apparently this part right here is actually patchy suffocating in the sand I'm not joking it's horrifying when Alex explains it and it's creepy demonic SpongeBob theme song while he plays in the back 😨😨😨😰😰😰😨😨🫨🫨🫨🫨
There was a lot to love about this episode. From the various references to different episodes, to character cameos from all over the timeline like Bubble Bass, The Strangler, the Rock Bottom Angler, Mindy, and freaking Hasslehoff, to the top tier voice actor sequence on land, this episode felt like a true celebration of the series. Thank you Stephen Hillenburg
Right now it’s SpongeBob 25th anniversary. The new Spongebob funkopops releases for the anniversary are pretty. I ordered the Doodlebob one. Might order some more before those skyrockets in price.
Out of all the episodes of SpongeBob, SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout is my top favorite. This episode was just beautiful, also the celebrity apprentices were awesome. Even the live action with the voice actors that was outstanding. Also The guy who got bean cannon in the face that was Jack Griffo, the same Jack Griffo who did The Thundermans with Kira Kosarin. This episode will always be my favorite and RIP Stephen Hillenburg
this was a very special episode back in the day can't believe its already been over 20 years since the show premiered on nickelodean and I grew up watching in the late 2010's good times and very nostalgic... legit so many characters from past episodes and many cool moments coming back to celebrate the special day of our special sponge friend very wholesome
I literally remember watching this on TV when it aired back in 2019, it was really great and I really enjoyed it!! You guys should react to the Broadway Musical version of the show, I would love to hear your thoughts on it!!
This special marks SpongeBob 20th anniversary. It’s definitely a lot better and funner compared to its 10th anniversary special. Those celebrities appearances were used better.
@@nintendoswitch2927 That's just like how SpongeBob is confirmed asexual, but of course they are never going to use that word out loud in the actual show, video games, or movies.
