✈ Trip report | Lufthansa B747-400 | Flying the 747 on short haul to Spain | Frankfurt - Palma ✈

Lufthansa has been flying the B747 between Frankfurt and PMI during the peak summer season. When I found out that they were flying it again in June, I jumped at the opportunity to fly on the queen of the skies especially on a short flight.
My experience at Frankfurt airport was much better than a few weeks ago where security was incredibly slow, this time i was through in less than 5 minutes! The airport was very busy however but this is to be expected given that it is summer time.
Today we will board from gate A58, and will be flying on D-ABVY which is around 22 years old. Having been delivered to the airline in 2000. Todays flight was fully booked, it’s not surprising given that the B747 is flying the route today! Now I was actually booked in business for this particular flight: I was sat in 14K, this is my favourite seat on the 747 as I love the view of the wing and the engines. personally I wouldn’t usually pay the extra for business class on a European route however it was well worth it for the wing view alone.
I was surprised that we had been given a pillow and a blanket for such a short flight, there was also an amenity kit which was a welcome surprise. You will also find 2 usb ports and a power plug, I did try and use the IFE but I couldn’t get the hang of the remote control which was fiddly.
The service onboard was fantastic, the crew were super friendly and worked efficiently to serve everyone in business class, the service didn’t feel rushed at all.
Today was a quick flight just over 2 hours, but enough time to enjoy flying on the 747, the flight was great!
