If I’m not mistaken I think a lot of OG Mongoose frames were Nickel… if it were mine I’d hit it with a grey Scotch Bright rotary wheel to remove the existing finish then a purple one by hand… lightly sand then Rattle can it satin clear so it won’t oxidize… Taking care as NOT to disturb the OG stickers… That Goose is Killer!!! Nice job fellas bringing that girl back to life!!! BTW let Phu know we were STOKED on Pho Lu!!! The Dishes he suggested were BOMB!!!🤣🤙🏽
Nice I built a custom 1978 motomag mongoose . I mixed old and mid skool parts . These old mongoose frames were cool. I’ve had maybe 6 of them in my life. Bless up bro, great vids , great shop, bmx for life . I’m 51 and yes I sometimes ride my 78
Try a 50/50 mix of acetone and automatic transmission fluid in a spray bottle for freeing up the aluminum from steel. Might have to keep it soaking for a day or two but works good.
Not surprised at all buddie i mean you are a bike shop and if you did have trouble getting a very basic 80s bike rolling again id definitely have questions.
I had that exact bike, bought brand new. Suede covered Kashimax seat, Shimano Tourney brakes, Mongoose SS bars, snake belly tires, MKS pedals. I put the Dura Ace cranks on my road bike, and put on one piece Takagi MX cranks with a gold Mongoose spider, off a Supergoose. That blue "candy apple" coating started peeling off almost immediately. I ended up removing it all together, and polishing the nickel and putting on Supergoose decals. Sooo sorry I ever sold it.
Ever since I saw the our bmx Trey Jones bike check, I’ve been wanting to let a frame get patina’d out and build it up with fresh parts. I just can’t do that to my fly bikes Tierra v4
Would that part for the bottom bracket be called a bearing race?maybe try to slip a stem on a stuck seat post then use a cheater pipe for leverage to turn it to break it loose
Help please : I have a power series box stays I need to restore , has a ugly orange powder coat on it , what’s the best way to get it removed and refinished chrome ?
Old stem tightened on to seized seat post I used leverage pipe broke mine loose on both 1980 DB long pro and 1984 Redline 500a aluminum seat seized in cromoly frame.THAT seat post WILL come out!! I didn't use anything but an old stem and a leverage bar no wd40 or anything
So stoked to be back 🎉😊
thats actually pretty dope, almost like driving a vintage car right out the barn with a few new shiny parts
We’re dreaming of Phu aren’t we? 🤘 You’re the only BMX that I enjoy watching. Don’t forget us.

Nice three piece cranks
Nice
🔥🔥🔥
I like the build guys I would just wax the frame to finish it off 👍🏽❤
Nice...
You need an induction heater to loosen seized hardware. Its so worth the price.

How would you ask ?
Part of the bearing lock set

@@AlfredoMancuso Glad your back
If my dad was Asian and still alive I want him to be Phu, love you like a dad Phu, from your 46 year old English adopted son 🥰

lightly spray with that blue spray to fill in the cracks it works with airbrush

Ethan ran out 😂😂😂
The frame looks cool. Maybe less desirable for some scumbag to steal too 😆
Almost looks like the first BMX i rode (the new blue one that it).
That bike looked like mine but I only had a frame so I powder coated it before I started finding parts to restomod it .
I feel drunk after watching. lol

@@robertlund5694 Ty for the reply , I’m hoping , going to give one a call after the holidays and see what options I have
Me love you long time....
Bearing seat
I appreciate the old school bikes. I'm just guessing that frame weighs 10 pounds.
Hello guys I'm looking for a bmx backwheel 9t or 12t please guys
🥲
once a month? I hope you have something new to report for us.
Fou means crazy in french. Coincidence ?
Rad. Phu you need a haircut
Sand it, wax it.
I would rather have a bike that rides 10/10 and looks 1/10 than a bike that looks 10/10 but rides 1/10...
cone race
Cost $389 + tax = Not worth it for basically not improving it.
Labour and parts - how's that not an improvement?
Flat tires are annoying, don't bmx have tubeless or run flats or something
if PHU aint in a brand new whip like u got asap its yo azz son .
