This is what I get when i watch attracting hummingbirds from a nursery in florida: none of the plants are in my hardiness zone 😂😂😂, well except the common milkweed. They grow on our property and we keep the ones that grow in the garden. But I enjoyed learning about these flowers so thanks.
Right now, Sept 2022, in our garden in New Orleans the main attractions of the butterflies are zinnias. A cheap packet of seeds out performing the perennials.
Very informative videos. Just discovered your nursery. Got a lot of flowers and plants here last month. They are thriving in the garden, and a couple of hummingbirds are visiting now
Here Pennsylvania I planted a red hibciscus, red wax begonias, purple hypssops, red lips saliva, red sonic weigela, and low blue chips buddliea. So many butterflrd and hummingbirds. I love seeing them.
One of the best videos I've come across -- and I've watched many -- on hummingbird attractors. As one researching this topic for a literary project, I thank you!
firespikes are awsome i have them against the fence hummers like them here in central fl. you can put some in a big container but it will wilt in the summer sun morning sun is good after that they melt.
I get zebra long wings on my Jaltropha plants, but seem to get more gulf frittilaries on them. Either way, I love that plant. I am in western Volusia county, nearby.
Still a video i come back to over and over because i can actually find these at my nursery, and that it actuallly does attract pollinators, thank u so much for this video, would love more that include things like mexican heathers, and tecoma ❤
Yes growing zones are very important. I am in Zone 9a so I have grown just about every plant he showed over the years. But what is confusion is California is listed as zone 9, too. But their climate is different than Louisiana & Florida.
You are welcome, I am planning my garden and I wanted to see full grown plants so I can have a better idea of what to expect. I really appreciate your video it is one of the best out there. Have a great day.
Great ideas for native attractors for our friends. When do you have these in stock and is planting best in April for most of the butterfly & hummingbird plants? Love the video and information. Thanks see you in a month or so.
I live in South Florida and got a firebush a few weeks ago and I already have aloe but have to figure out a way to get them to flower (I do plan on getting the other plants you mentioned as well). I'm starting to see butterflies wander around my garden once in a while but no hummingbirds yet, although I heard this is around the time they most hang out in our warm/hot climate. How long does it take after planting the plants you mentioned to attract them? Also, my Golden Retriever likes to stand a while to smell flowers (it's very sweet :D) so are any of these plants toxic for dogs to touch or sniff? Sorry for so many questions, haha! Thank you, Sir! Subscribed to your wonderful channel - us Floridians need to support each other :) God bless.
This guy has no clue about native plants or their importance. For example, the blue porterweed he showed is the non native invasive one. Florida has a native blue porterweed.
Thank-you for making this video. It was very helpful.
👍

Zinnias were my mom favorite flowers.
Maybe because were easy to grow and did indeed attracted butterflies
Excellent

To check toxicity to animals , your local extension service online will help with info. Ifas is for Florida but should have info on anything.

Thank you for mentioning up front what growing zone you are discussing.

Nice video, but would have liked a full view of the flower plants.
Thank you for this feedback, we will do our best next time to show the flower plants.

I am new to gardening will they grow in Louisiana
Which plant were you interested in?
@@EarthWorksJax I don't remember I will have to look at it again. Thanks for answering 🙂
What about New York State what kinds of plants can I plant
I so much want a hummingbird garden. Can't afford it but of well. 😔
They don't have to be expensive.
Start with seeds and bulbs, join gardening groups and collect cuttings from other gardeners. Buy plants on sale,
Ask friends for cuttings of their plants .

Can all of these flowers be planted in miami too?
Yes indeed!
No where near my hardiness zone, but great video nonetheless.
What's your hardness, i mean hardiness zone?
Plant more natives!
Always!

Stachytarpheta jamaicensis is native to a few South Florida counties. Do you have a commercial dealer for it gcxred4kat9?
