I really enjoy transparent wc with all the glazes. Sometimes I even use a light pyrol orange underneath to show how the sun comes through. Your comment on using or carrying over the red to the green is so important and I hope students don’t fear that. Practicing a layer process with those complimentary colors creates that lovely neutral and works every time. This is the real deal on learning the most important techniques in watercolor and look, anyone can learn. So becoming super familiar with how your paint works and just blending will help give a boost to your work. Awesome tutorials and techniques and thank you for sharing your knowledge on the regular UA-cam videos. There are many classes and costs but this way a student could feel that they are your only student learning directly without the interruptions or repeated boring basics. Way to go!

Thank you Jennie! ❤️ I really appreciate your thoughtful feedback. It’s not always easy to show more advanced techniques on UA-cam - as a platform it very much favours quick and easy tutorial formats, but I am doing my best because there is so much more to Watercolor than 1 layer quick sketches. That said, not everyone has the patience (or the right paper) so it’s a balance 💗

Of all the reds used, which one do you recommend to use with the sap green leaves? And how did you make your decision? Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these details, it’s greatly appreciated.❤

Thank you for a not so “beginner” class for the UA-cam students. After learning so many beginners’ UA-cam tutorials, I am eager to go to the next level. Finally, I found you. My biggest take-away in this tutorial is to bring the sunlight into the painting by applying the warm reds, and cool reds. Thank you so much for a great instruction. ❤

Lovely tutorial! My struggle with these kind of paintings is to make them look cohesive. They tend to look quiet messy when I try, I guess it's a matter of trial an error but it's so frustrating 😅🖌

I’m painting a reddish door & first wash was red rose deep. I believe it’s a cool & each layer darken’s into more a light burgundy? Know could use green for shadow but is there another (red/burgundy) that will not make mud! Tyvm as putting some yellow first adds so much! Ty for these tutorials as just beginning!

Nicole, I generally favour Quinacridone pigments, and here is a video on my top 10 favourite ua-cam.com/video/VPLfzXQbTOc/v-deo.html but of course it would depend on a specific flower 😊

Hello from Alberta! Your videos are among my absolute favourite as I learn the various techniques. Unfortunately, I do find that I’m unable to grasp what painting technique you’re applying at any given moment (i.e., wet on wet, wet on dry or damp on damp), and this has led to some pretty bad results. Can I coax you into dropping a hint about your technique as you show us these incredible combinations of Color, depth, blending, etc. Thank you!
