I don't think it's a matter of being cheaper Kiko actually picked his replacement. There's is actually a pretty cool video on Kiko's UA-cam channel with all of them practicing with Marty Friedman including Teemu. I think what it comes down to is he has a family issue at home and it could be that he doesn't necessarily want to come back, touring life is very hard on individuals especially with a family. That comment that Dave made about Hangar 18 and Mechanics. It wasn't that Kiko has not played those songs it was that they have done those songs back to back before. That is what he meant by the comment.
My honest opinion is that Dave is not going to go with the cheaper option I believe there's a really good shot that Marty Friedman will be back in the picture. There has been some subtle hints of his return and I wouldn't doubt that Dave would bring him back, if Marty is open to it. He constantly brings up through his books about how much of an impact Marty had, and in interviews. Nothing is for sure but it'll be interesting to see what might happen

Wintersun's self-titled album was released back in 2004. 8 years before Time I. So there's only 5 years left 'till Time II will be released.

Wintersun has bred a lot of highly skilled musicians. Though Jari did screw up a big deal, the album is a testimony to the musicianship.
To such a degree that 2 of the members were headhunted to join the symphonic metal band Nightwish, which is probably Finlands greatest band last 20 years.
Now we see Teemu replacing Kiko in Megadeth? Not a big surprise for those who knows his talent and where he came from.
I've seen some interviews with Kiko, and he seems to be a genuine nice guy.
So if the kids miss their dad.. Well it might make him feel bad and have conscience?
If so I can truly understand why he mid-tour deicide to leave.

I follow him on UA-cam on a channel he share with some japanese friends.
Rock Fujiyama, who mainly focus on japanese music, but now and then also invite foreign bands and artists. We also got some behind the stage pictures from Megadeths gig in Budokan Tokyo.
TBH... It doesn't really look like Marty is too keen on joining Dave again. he for sure was happy to see him, but Friedman has a new life in Japan. Doing his own stuff.
Should Kiko announce that he would leave Megadeth for good? Who knows...
But seen some of the live performances Teemu has done for Megadeth on UA-cam.
And If Dave wants to, I see no reason for him to continue, since he does a very very good job.
Teemu is less expensive because he is much less famous than Kiko who has been playing in Megadeth for several years. Thats how the music business works.
If Kiko went home just because his kids miss him he would probably never get another paying gig that’s an insane reason to leave MID TOUR.

Kiko is at home with his family.. He will be back when he's solved his family concerns.. Chatting shit when you clearly know little or wish to be disingenuous over it.
Have you seen none of Dave’s comments? He’s already laying the ground work to keep Teemu. Literally insulting Kiko’s metal cred. Very naive to think he’s gonna welcome him back after that.
@theonetruematt You are stretching hard.. Kiko literally asked Teemu to fill for him.. You also conveniently missing out the whole part where Daves said he loves Kiko wants to give him the room he needs and is looking forward to having him back.
@PhantomDeth you’re taking everything Dave says at face value like he hasn’t kicked 20 people out of the band over the years for any excuse possible. You’ll see. Once Kiko’s officially out you can come back and tell me I was right. Would be nice if I was wrong honestly but Dave’s a dick so it’s doubtful.

Dave and Kiko are the partnership now.. Not just anyone is going to be able to step away for their family for a leg of the tour.
Dave and Kiko made that statement.. Maybe you need to read it again? Does that sound like a firing?
Dave might be a little annoyed not knowing what's going on with one of his band members.. But he also knows that giving him the space to focus on this thing right now is what's best for him.
Mustaine can and will soldier on without Kiko there for the remainder of the tour.. I think he has been pleasantly surprised with Kikos choice for touring guitarist again. Dave has learned to trust his partner.. He has a partner in Kiko that he has successfully worked with and who understands what the band needs to continue to evolve but also be Megadeth at its core.. They've done a great job on two records doing just that.. Will do a third.
If Kiko was fired.. We'd know about it.. But no.. He is with his family.
I'll end with this.. Its rather rich of someone calling Mustaine a dick for doing right by Kikos family.. The dick is you my guy. Disrespectful to Kiko his family, Dave and the band.. As well as Teemu.

@PhantomDeth yeah I’ll happily say I was wrong on the podcast if Kiko comes back. But Dave will still be a dick and you don’t have to know him personally to figure that out.

IMHO Kiko is bigger than Megadeth. His songs are incredible but Megadeth on the stage still plays 80% of Marty's era.
Angra opened for Megadeth here in Brasília and there is a void between the bands (Megadeth is another level). Unfortunately last Angra albuns were unmemorable for me.
Kiko could form a new band with Teemu, that would be amazing.
Yeah they’re not as interesting as the classic Angra stuff but that’s pretty typical for any band that’s been around that long. Honestly surprised how much I enjoyed them with Fabio. Will be interesting to see what Kiko does wherever he ends up.
Marty Friedman joined them on stage & Dave thought i don't want crap players like poland/young etc i want Marty.
All of them are just cover guitar players....No matter what skill level they are on
