A fabulous film critic and a lovely man. He was the best presenter of BBC1's Film programme in my opinion God bless you Barry ❤ 😊
Another good one Paul, always liked Barry's quiet and thoughtful commentary on the latest movie releases over the years. I will never forget him. Beautiful Cemetery and a perfect resting place for him and his wife. RIP Barry Norman.
Sky looked amazing so tranquil
Gorgeous sunrise and a beautiful peaceful location. RIP Mr & Mrs Norman 💐
And why not.... Paul has a great way of presenting his vlogs. The calmness of his voice, the back drops and a knowledge of the subjects encaptures the audience. This guy is for greater things. I look forward to seeing how he entertains a favorable audience!
Many thanks Paul, Barry Norman's background was fascinating and nice to see his grave, it wasn't just what Barry Norman said it was his delivery and the way that he said it, I always tuned into the film program even if you didn't like the film he was reviewing it was always great to watch him in action.
It’s a very nice area in Hertfordshire, very safe.
What a nice place. Thank you for Another interesting Video. 💥
No film critic has been the same since and you can’t beat Barry’s voice. Another great video but I did struggle with the speed up at the end as it does set off my motion sickness. 🤪
I didn't know Barry Norman had such a fascinating life before he presented "Film...." Living to a ripe old age and passing away in his sleep is a nice way to go. I remember him reviewing "Buster" starringPhil Collins in the title role and he was scathing. What affects the Jonathan Ross film programme is his being very well known beforehand. With Barry Norman, he just seemed to appear on tv one night and he wasn't too well-known at the time and lots of us grew up with him.
the only man brave enough to walk alone through a cemetery at 4.30 in the morning. Wish I'd have know, I would have hidden behind a tomb stone and jumped out wearing a Freddie Kruger mask 😂. Great channel mate.
Ha ha that would have made me laugh…. 🤣😂
@@UnusualThings1 well done mate, I’m up at 4am for work, so good on ya , don’t tell anyone but early mornings are the best😂
It's the living we should fear not the dead in church yards .
Done it loads of times in the 90s when one days lasts four lol
@@stevenwade7466 ha ha man,you beat me to it,no need to be scared of the dead for sure😁😁😄
What a blissful setting for such a pleasant man.
No other host was anywhere near as good as Barry in my opinion, he was so fascinating and easy to watch and he gave the films he was reviewing an interesting in-depth critique.
Glad to see he has such a picturesque and very cinematic resting place. What a beautiful dawn sky, you picked the right day. 😁👍
Barry norman was such a great film critic , got his book on his all time favourites ,and they are solid gold classics . He was passionate about his work , sad he’s not here now . Bless him
LOOK at that sunrise... the colors of that early morning sky are absolutely beautiful...
Barry Norman left me with a love of cinema which endures to this day, Many thanks.
I loved this early morning visit to Barry Normans grave at 4 o’clock ish in the morning,I’m always awake at that time. What a lovely peaceful way Barry died in his sleep. I always watched his great film review program. He and his wife are laid to rest in a beautiful place especially with the sunrise. Thanks Paul
I always enjoyed his shows on TV , great film critic . RIP Barry Norman
Dear Paul, you are the best of all presenters for finding graves of well known people.Very natural ,informative ,sensitive and tactful. Many thanks for all your films
Thank you 🙏
Thank you 😊 Paul,you done Barry Norman proud,a great man,loved watching him,RIP Barry xxx❤️🌹🌹
Barry was at the 40th anniversary of The Persuaders with Roger Moore ten years ago a great evening for me. He was a great film critic. Nicely presented film of his grave as always.
Terrific, the dawn raid made this even better, what a great atmosphere. Barry was really brilliant and so cool in his reviews. Also, what a beautiful place to be buried.
And with the sun shining on the Headstone. Yesterday, was the 30th of June, the 5th anniversary of his death.
@@MrDaiseymay Perfect timing, I didn't realise that, thanks for the info.
Lovely churchyard and church another ace video Paul Thanks
Loved the atmosphere of this podcast. Watching the red of the sunrise through the trees and its glow all around was just stunning.
Such a beautiful place. Yes, a very interesting topic also. I didn't know that Barry Norman had died.RIP.
Funnily enough I've been watching Barrys reviews lately on YT...they're superb...witty,dry,sarcastic...Barry knew how to deliver a line..I still have recordings of his film reviews on video..I was a fan growing up...this was a great one to see....cheers mate..👍
Beautiful place, Barry Norman was fab at his job he always made you feel it was worth watching.
Brings back some Memories watching Barry Norman with my Grandparents, RIP Mr and Mrs Norman and once again Thanks for a great video Paul, well Done 🙏
That beautiful morning sky. Barry Norman was always a pleasure to watch. He came from an era of people who had personality.
I crack up every time you stroke your beard as I know what's coming ...."I think ive found it"🤣 Great content Paul...love your channel x
Thats a beautiful red sky and another brilliant documentary :)
Remember Barry Norman, a very relaxed voice when giving his critique! Always had good vibes which I just remembered whilst watching this video! Even his grave has good vibes about it I think. Great one!
I liked watching and listening to Barry Norman. I noticed with the dates on the gravestone, Barry was 4 days older than his wife Diana.. sleep well both of you xx
Barry Norman's father was also the producer of 'The Cruel Sea' (which you mention) and also directed many episodes of cult tv favourites like 'The Avengers' and 'The Saint' in the 1960s. His father also died of lung cancer aged 81. And although you didn't pick up on it, I notice the grave next to the one you visited was for an 'Oliver Norman' who I believe was one of his grandchildren and sadly died just a few months after being born. Incidentally that churchyard looks so peaceful and quiet. What a beautiful place to be laid to rest in.
Barry Normans voice was so smooth and good to listen to
Great video about Barry Norman. Grew up watching him on the box in the 80s and 90s. Another sad loss
That opening music from the "Film [year]" show was a blast of nostalgia. I always used to enjoy Barry Norman talking about films though I honestly don't remember any review in particular. Looks like a lovely peaceful cemetery.
Paul that theme tune really took me back years. Fond memories of Barry Norman.
I remembered him, he was a brilliant Celebrity. Do not fear, the beloved souls know you are there and they will not hurt or scare you.
that sky looks absolutely beautiful. rip barry
My memory of Barry Norman was from Spitting Image where he used to use a baby bottle as a nasal spray.
He was a great journalist and critic, once again Paul you aced it with the reverence and respect you always shoe.
Thank you 😊
Hiya Paul, beautiful sunrise behind you as you walk about. Beautiful sky. Barry Norman was a legend. A great host. Points of view. I loved him. Good old days of telly. Respectful as always. Have a great weekend.
Thank you Nicky, you too. 🙏
What a beautiful location. That sky is stunning. An interesting video on Barry Norman. Thank you Paul. X
Look at that beautiful sky, what a gorgeous cemetery. I think there’s nothing nicer than going for a walk in the early hours of summer. Thank you for showing us Barry Normans resting place. I remember his program as it was just at bedtime ready for school. Thank you 😊
I used to never miss Barry Norman going right back to the 70 for me. So lovely to see his grave, and thank you so much. I watch UA-cam but have to come to my Ipad to leave comments. Great job you are doing many thanks. That early morning sunrise is beautiful👍👍
Hi paul cracking early morning stroll through the cemetery. Barry was a one off straight to point. R.I.P. Barry.
Wow. You being there at that hour of the day and showing us Barry's grave is amazing. Thanks for sharing this. He was ace. Actually immortalised on UA-cam for his honest and frank reviews. His Back to the Future review is just great. Anyways, thanks again for sharing. 🙏
So much content ..such an interesting man...love listening to Barry Norman...TY ..Paul...
Barry Norman did a lot for charity in stevenage, he was chairman of Stevenage community trust, it helped people who were down on their luck who couldn`t pay their bills, and that kind of thing, i`m pretty sure he was a Govener of a special school in stevenage too, i regularly used to see him shopping in Sainsburys, (everyone buys potatoes) he was very generous with his time, and looking out for others. The church at DAtchworth is a lovely church and can been seen from many vantage points arouns stevenage
Barry Norman an all time great .Fascinating Paul keep up the good work.
Barry's father was responsible for two great British war films he directed dunkirk with John mills and Richard attenborough and was producer of possibly one of the greatest British war films the cruel sea ,many thanks for your entertaining and informative downloads 🦉
I grew up watching the film series he did as a teenager and always enjoyed them, something about his voice and air of knowledge that gave his opinions on the films he reviewed really addictive, and you're right Johnathon Ross couldn't hold a light to him.
Barry had that relaxing late night voice .His headstone inscribed with "see you in the morning" Imagine if they had put "...and why not ! ".
I did not remember his name . But I remember the music & his voice . I also remember points of view ( is forgotten about that too ) 💙💚💛❤💜🇮🇪
What a beautiful sunrise!! With the setting of the church it was lovely. Maybe do a sunset one next? 😊
Watching this at 0412 as I can't sleep. Thanks for keeping me company Paul. ❤
I sat directly behind him and his wife on the H37 bus
Lovely couple.
Few months later he had passed away.
I had no idea he and she were so talented.
Hi Paul, In 1987 I attended the Brighton Film Festival working for a Bus Company In Manchester. I took a Double Decker Bus to the event and was parked up outside The Grand Hotel on the Prominade.
At the end of the week I was invited to the Big Bash in the Grand Hotel and was sat next to Barry Norman for the main meal, he was a lovely man and he signed my Invitation Card the man sat on the other side of me was Desmond Llewelyn ( Q ) from James Bond Films - what a night.
Oh wow, that’s awesome two great guys to be sat next to. Thanks for that John 🙏
Lovely sunrises
I really appreciate you finding Barry Norman ,I liked him, he had a brilliant wacky off beat sence of humour ,maybe that's why I loved his long running films show ,cheers Paul 😃😔🙏🇬🇧😅
Maybe the gimbal moving on its own was Barry's directorial debut?
Ha ha…. Could well have been or maybe he was giving me some criticism over my filming 😊
@@UnusualThings1 superb channel you have, you are becoming the UK answer to Grimm Life :)
Barry was also a great influencer on thr film industry. His criticism of films that seemed to celebrate films depicting violence against women was widely supported. I also recall his story of when he interviewed John Wayne and laughed when John suggested America should send troops into a situation with which he politically disagreed. Barry thought he was joking. John's assistants had to literally hold John back from attacking Barry who terminated the interview! Your series bring back odd memories of your subjects. Thank you.
Oliver Norman, the grave on the left is Barry’s prematurely born grandson. His twin survived. I remember Barry appearing in the Morecambe and Wise sketch, There is Nothing Like a Dame featuring other BBC presenters and newsreaders.
Beautiful sunrise and peaceful church graveyard. That you for sharing.🙂
I remember him as I was growing up. What a beautiful place and that sunrise was stunning!
Oh yes ! I remember him. His voice was very calm and steady when he would give his views. Always smart. Beautiful place, and the sun raise was just perfect the colour! You really are dedicated Paul to this job, very caring, respectful . I can no longer walk far, so you do the job for me, and many more can see these beautiful Graves and churches . Huge Thank you Paul xxx
Barry messing around with your phone there Paul!!! Tastefully done as usual "And why not"! as Barry used to say. Beautiful little churchyard and well done.
Yes Richard, probably critiquing my film making 😄🙏
What a lovely video, Barry Norman was the Man THE BEST nobody has come near him apart from Sir Michael Parkinson with regard to Film Reviews he knew his stuff if Barry said it was good it was! When he passed they gave him a lovely tribute, the Front Cover of Radio Times leaning on a stack of Film Cans was a superb picture, I have it framed. His Autobiography, "Memoirs Of A Film Lover" - And Why Not? Is a super read very witty in places he had a dry sense of humour I miss him not being around so much, he was such a well respected man in the film industry. Whenever I hear the famous theme music to his programme it always brings a smile to my face, this was Barry's Theme! So nice to see his final resting place with his beloved wife, many thanks for posting this so interesting. RIP Diana & Barry. - Mark - Ex Cinema Projectionist - Wallasey - Wirral. 3/7/22
Cheers Mark, yes he was a legend. 🙏 🎥
Thanks for getting up so early to bring us yet another fab video Paul. There is something magical about that time of the day. That theme music brings back great memories. I used to enjoy watching Barry's film reviews, excited to see what was coming out on the big screen. Thanks again Paul, have a fab weekend 😀
Wow! The early bird catches the spirits Paul! It was great of you to get up so early to visit this beautiful little church yard, and with the glorious pinky/red Dawn sunshine warming the earth and lighting the sky, church and even your face. Stunning.
I really enjoyed watching Barry. The film critic…as you said. Whether you agreed or not, that was his job and I always thought him totally fair!
Did you notice there were just four days between his birth and his wife’s, same year, month, just four days apart.
I miss Barry still doing that program…times move on so quickly these days, I don’t suppose there is s place for it anymore, but more is the pity. Thankyou Barry for the years of pleasure you gave to so many of us who watched and listened to.
Once again, huge thanks to you Paul, for getting up so early and research done to rte,, us all about Barry’s life, marriage and ear,y life, plus stories around that time, his brother, wife and finally two daughters. It was a lovely gravestone, with the comment “See you in the Morning!”
You
What beautiful light you had there Paul.....another top drawer subject and video .....
4.23! You are dedicated! That was a lovely place. Barry Norman was another childhood staple♥️
Brilliant episode. Loved Barry Norman, great to stay up late as a teenager and watch him. Firm, but fair as you say Paul! Great setting and great time of the day!
The theme tune of the film series reminds me of my childhood watching Barry.
I remember is voice well as if it was only yesterday. He did a fab job at presenting and a nice man too.
Cracking video mate .. what a sunrise made for a a stunning film mate.. really enjoyed it
Cheers Lee thank you buddy 🙏
Yep o loved Barry watch every week great way about him love the films
Watched the Film 19xx series from the beginning to the end. Thanks for doing this one.
His wife Diana Norman wrote some absolutely wonderful historical novels. To me they have very few equals among the genre. If you are a reader of such please look them up. My favourites are The Morning Gift and The Vizard Mask.
Fantastic vid Paul as always, I enjoyed the early morning wake up to see Barry's grave. A great setting 👍
Sorry I was late , that beautiful sunrise God is the best artist 🎨 there is . Hope you are well Paul .
Thank you Diana, all good cheers
Another good video . What a lovely time to go too. Too early for me! But seeing the sun come up and the colours it gave out was beautiful. Thank you.
Many thanks Paul for yet another excellent video of this time Barry Norman. The brilliant film critic and like you Paul, I too loved watching his film critique series on BBC 1 each week. He was one of a kind. Nobody could be as he was. Miss him and Terry wogan so very much
Another superb video Paul fascinating facts about the late great Barry Norman
Wow. 4.23 happens twice a day?! To be fair, it looked beautiful with the sun coming up! I used to love watching his critiques - that dry, wry sense of humour! Another great one Paul, and I echo your sentiment. Thank you 😊
He was my favorite too. Thanks for video. Best wishes
I LOVED THIS show in my teens , never missed it , thank you Paul x
I've just watched this one for the second time and just realised where you were 🙈 I grew up a couple of miles away from Datchworth and regularly rode my pony around the village.
Lovely location and great video as usual 🙏
The graphics on there when I was waiting for the video to start were really amazing.
Another good video/tribute, as always. Thanks
Great guy and lovely natural lighting accompanied you. Special souls saying hello :)
Quality that Paul. Like you i was bought up on the film series. Can’t believe he slated a Rocky movie, that’s sacrilege 😭. Thanks for getting up at 2am to film it 😂
Yeh…. How dare he lol 😆 Cheers Simon.
Always enjoyed watching Barry Norman reviewing movies growing up and his interview's always brilliant. Thanks for another great video Paul 🙂👍
Thank-you Paul for another great video.
You're brave that time in the morning.
Thanks for the video Paul
Great as always xx
Another great video mate and a beautiful sunrise.
It was always a pleasure to watch Barry Norman’s reviews when I was growing up and that intro took me right back.
Loved the film series , used to watch it with my dad . Rest in Peace Barry . Thanks for these videos Paul , you revisit things from my childhood that I had long forgotten about.
really enjoy watching your channel real blast from the past seeing all these faces I grew up watching on tv reminds me of times when tv was more honest
Barry Norman used to frequent my parents high class fruitier and greengrocers shop back in the 80’s, I never met him (met many of other famous ppl when I was a child so was starstruck in mum and dads shop lol ) and mum and dad say he was a really nice man …and Datchworth has the most haunted road , Hawkins Hall Lane ….. which is one of the lanes, nigh on opposite that church… I go past there weekly on route to my parents house 🥰
Love as always Paul ❤️ xx
Thank you as always for your lovely comments. That’s interesting to hear about the place being haunted. Probably why my phone Gimble was being messed with at the end. 👻 😂
@@UnusualThings1 oooo yes probably Boyce and Boice having a play as well ! You were more or less opposite Hawkins hall lane Paul , it’s the turning opposite between the rows of houses , would be good for you to go there with your reader etc at night and see what you pick up .my husband and I had to drive down that road one night and I said (with a couple swear words added “ “ no, not down here ! “ and it was not nice what we saw and experienced …….. the same being said for cold Christmas church in thundridge , exceptionally haunted there , not sure if you ever been there ? It’s not that far from datchworth really …..We have to drive past datchworth church to get to my parents house when we go visit…. You would’ve loved my parents old house they lived in for decades , that was haunted as well , as dick Turpin used to stay there when it was a inn ….. lol Much love as always Paul ❤️ xx
Brilliant good on you to get up so early and capture that sunrise fab commentry lovely ❤️
Wow Paul your filming is getting slicker and slicker mate. I also grew up watching Barry in fact I did not know he had passed. Your film took me way back amazing sitting with mom dad now gone watching him. Thank you mate. 🇬🇧
My pleasure Nigel 🙏
The sunset is gorgeous. So quite little place.
It was a sunrise 4:30 am 💤🤣
Cool video Paul. Lovely images of the sunrise. Keep them coming
