  • Clocks in Motion performs the first movement of John Jeffrey Gibbens' Allhallows. Gibbens composed Allhallows in 2012 and 2013 as a commission for Clocks in Motion. The instrumentation consists of marimba, quarimba (a quarter-tone marimba), vibraphone, piano, gongs and galvitone (galvanized pipes tuned to quarter tones).

In "AllHallows" Jeff Gibbens wrote an extraordinary piece of symphonic proportions for this extraordinary ensemble. The music is full of interesting phrasings and gestures and arches well in all of its three movements: Prelude, Witness and Nocturne. I love the inclusion of the piano and the damping of the gongs- like Paul Van says below.

While I appreciate the discipline required to perform avant-garde with its apparent unpredictability and the attention to detail damping the gongs, the piece could not compel me to listen. Thanks for being willing to perform and record it for us.

Yeah it was technically impressive (in technique and performance) but also a pretty unlikable autodoty experience
