Glad to see more of the Holbein Pencils; always heard so much. As always fun to watch and the spools are delightful. Vintage sewing supplies are a fav of mine too
I love this piece! I'm inspired to create a still life with my antique sewing supplies. My grandmothers, mom and step mom all sewed. One of my grandmothers worked at a store called Golden State Fabrics back in the 1960's. My mom worked as a pianist in piano bars in the 60's and made all her own cocktail dresses. Chiffon, brocades, sequins. Fabulous work all on her Singer 500A "Rocketeer", which I still have. I have A LOT of "antique" supplies. I really enjoy using colored pencils. I love watercolor, but I can still feel out of control, which is fine for creating abstract pieces. LOL! More control with pencils.
Lindsay, you are a good nudger(sp) because I sure didn’t see anything wrong with your drawing! This is a really realistic piece of art, and beautiful! Thank you for all of your explanations and teaching as you go along.
Hi Lindsay! 😊 What a lovely drawing/painting! So realistic! The shine on the thread is amazing! I love vintage sewing supplies! I have so many...too many! Lol! But I can't resist! The old wooden spools of thread are so neat, and buttons...oh my gosh...I love buttons! Tins, sewing boxes, you name it, I have it! Haha! This piece just warmed my heart! So happy to have some time to watch you create! I've missed it so much!!!! Hope your Memorial Day weekend was great! 🇺🇸 🥰❤🧵✂️
Thank you for sharing. I love colored pencils! This was a wonderful still life with the threads. My mother was an avid seamstress. She could like at outfit, sketch it and then make! Just like my grandmother did. Just amazing. I could do that a little. I loved learning from my parents, important things making patterns from mother and wiggling my ears from dad. 😁 I love learning and watching amazing artist, like you. Thank you for being a wonderful and generous teacher. Mother had a big old bottle of threads and buttons that was my grandmother. It was beautiful and lives at my house. 😢 I’m collecting old thread spools and buttons to recreate it. I’m thinking I’ll sketch it now and not wait, but I’m concerned it might distort my memory. Happy Holiday!
Thank you, Lindsey, for another excellent video. I had colored pencils for decades, but have never been interested in using them. I'm primarily a watercolor artist. I've got supplies from college in 1966 (Conte crayons, charcoal, India ink, pastel pencils) I'd love to have you teach us how to use some of these.
Your spools are beautiful! I loved watching this artwork "come to life" as you worked your magic. I always learn something, or many things, from your video lessons. Thank you for posting your video lessons for us.
"Color pencils, either regular or watercolor pencils, a beautiful medium for travel, also a companion to watercolor paint."-Lynn This is a beautiful video Lindsay, love the colors.I ran out of paint one day and used my color pencils to do a paint by numbers, came out beautiful. ❤🙂🌹
Nice! I love my electric eraser. I use it on my pre drawings, no matter what kind of paper I am using. It's kind to any surface. Found mine on Amazon for less than $8.00 including a package of about 50 refills. Thanks again for sharing you wonderful talent. You make everything look so easy!!😁
Great drawing Lindsay, yet again I want to get my pencils out to give it a whirl. Your compositions are so interesting for simple things found around the house
YAY! I love this!! Gorgeous drawing and coloring, Lindsay! Holy moley they look real especially when you added the dark shadow to the thread. I hope to be 1/2 as good as you one day. Tfs.
If I had known how I like watercolor painting and color pencils I wish I had took art in school I am 62 self trained so thanks for the info you share I love the drawing
Lindsay, this is just amazing. I am saving this to do along with you at some point. I'm trying to organize a specific sewing area for myself and this will go beautifully. Thanks so much you are very talented.
Really nice artwork, Lindsay! I've been watching color pencils videos lately and am fascinated. I love the results, but I personally have no idea how to use them myself. I guess I'm looking for a reason to collect color pencils, now that I have a pretty big watercolor collection.
I bring a serving tray with everything I need when working outside of my room, the tray is only for my watercolor items though because it’s too pretty to ruin with acrylics or staining products. (It’s a watercolor style underwater scene and I got it with a whole dish set for my birthday.)
Those pencils really are quite pigmented. I already wanted to try these and get some more derwent lightfast so I think I will have to sell one of my current sets to make it happen
Vintage labels from the 70's or 60's! Now you made me feel old and vintage! I was born in 1955 so 65 now and when you said vintage labels I thought you meant spools 100 years old or more! I'm not trying to complain about your use of the word, just my internal reaction. Of course you have to have loose threads ends coming off the spool as that is how they end up naturally! I wind everything up before putting all my spools away and I still end up with threads hanging everywhere. Thanks for the great lesson!
How adorable is this coloring! I love your art 👩🏻🎨🧵 no matter the subject or medium. Hey, you still hemming prom dresses 😱🤐🙃 ? I've made a couple of those and brides maids dresses. Eight of them!!! Same wedding. And everyone lived out of town so I couldn't measure anything! At that point you just have to run with it 😂💙
Loved this video. Never have liked colored pencils too tedious, but you made it look fun. Wish some portion was in real time. How long do you think it took you?
Lindsay Weirich just came home from Walmart and they are doing merchandise resets and adding new products, what is your opinion on Grumbacher 140 .lbs water color paper 30 sheets of 9 x12 for $6.97? And is a 40 pack of Royal and Langnickel Azure alcohol Markers a good value at $28.97??? Really value your opinion and love the Holbein pencil sketch of the thread and buttons. Thank you for sharing.
I like the azure markers, very juicy. Im not sure on the grumbacher watercolor paper but their acrylic pad is nice. I'll have to have a look next time I am in!
Beautiful results. Your art is an example of "when less is more"!! Thanks Lindsay.

the buttons just shines - I watched you do it twice and it was like magic! the white really made it shine.
This is so cute. It would be lovely hanging in a sewing room. Thanks Lindsay!
I cant draw or paint but when I watch your videos its like magic it just comes to life in front of my eyes love this
These are the pictures/paintings I personally like best. Florals and landscapes are nice but something unusual is more interesting, to me. IMHO. 💞
I love this still life.🥰🥰🥰
Beauty in the mundane. 😍

Really sweet picture. I'd mentioned in another video that I was curious about the electric eraser so thanks for that. Good pencil info, too. Thanks!
That is such a beautiful still life Lindsay x
Love this. I am a sewist plus a colorist among other crafty things I do.
Love it!!! Can’t wait to try it with my pencils!
Perfect for a sketchbook try. If only I could have the same professional look as your drawing. Yours looks so amazing! Thanks
Beautiful drawing❤️

Just awesome, so realistic, great work 😍
Really nice.
Such a pretty look! I really like the satin you achieved. I will try that!

Very nice drawing 😊
Nice... Enjoyed it! Am always tuned in to your channel. 😄😊
Wow, I love this! Such a cute little still life. I would be happy if you would post the photo on your blog, I think I'd like to give it a try 😊
That is cool! You are really amazing! Thank you for sharing
Lindsay I ordered an electric eraser from Jerry’s Artarama today and got it on sale for $10.39!!!! Can’t wait to use it.
Love this! Thanks
It turned out great! Holbein recommends Meltz with their pencils. It doesn't work with other brands, though -- just theirs.
So beautiful! And something I think even I could do 😋 P.S. I watched your Michaels video, really enjoyed it
Thanks!

I love this , I wonder if watercolor pencils are brighter than regular colored pencils , I only have wc pencils but I’ll try this xoxo

I probably should have said retro:)
@@thefrugalcrafter I think I was retro the day I was born. Old fashioned always appealed to me so much more than the newest trends.
The spools turned out beautifully, but the Holbein are just so expensive here in Canada. I’m debating just trying the white pencil. 😂
I’m also in Canada and I bought them through Amazon Japan. The were a lot cheaper
@@emilygoodwin5723 thank you for letting me know, I’ll have to look into that 😃

I finished yesterday afternoon. Lots of practising before I touched the dresses (and hand sewing 😆)

About 30-40 minutes

Hello Lindsay! Did you feel that the Holbein feel like oil pastels but in pencil form? Have you tried them on Sennelier's Oil Pastel Pad?
I don't, they are much too firm
@@thefrugalcrafter Thank you!
