Wow Maximas sure have come a long way since my 1997 with 328,000 miles that I still drive to work 110 miles round trip every day. Not an ounce of trouble!
We’ve had a 97 maxima in our family since I was 2 lmao , I’m 22 now and it still runs perfectly

I drove a 2016 Nissan Maxima S today and it was tons of fun and I didn't noticed the CVT transmission not one time.
I hated CVT's but then I got a cool job and got to drive one of these and the CVT is perfectly fine, sure it's annoying at high revs, but driving normally it's great.
Cvt and fwd is killing all the stunning looks and 3.5 v6

I know some people don't care for it, but I really love the two tone steering wheel matching the leather seating and the door armrests. This is definitely the best looking Maxima ever in my opinion. I still don't like CVT's, and I definitely agree that they should at least offer a 6 speed manual as an option, but it's nice to hear they're making improvements to the CVT. Now with 300 HP, it seems like a pretty good combo. Nice car, and great video guys.

True but even some Hyundai's are coming with DCT's. The CVT really ruined this car though... They really should have had a manual option for the Maxima.
I don't understand when people act like consumerist sheep and judge people who criticize bad aspects of a product. Yes, it is not a 911, but it is advertised as a sports sedan. It could be much better.
I am sure those people know exactly what type car it is.
If Nissan is going to market the Maxima as a "4 door super car", it better drive like one. It doesn't. The Taurus SHO is much better all around (aside from curb weight)

I bought a '16 Maxima in April and I enjoy it. The CVT isn't ideal but I get good fuel economy (for a V6) so I'm fine with it.
What's ur average fuel economy
+jodh goodwill I'm getting about 24 mpg right now, which is fair. I drive primarily in the city, but I get impressive averages when I use the highway. I drove from Maryland to State College, PA to attend a graduation at PSU in May and averaged 37 mpg to and from.
I don’t know why everyone’s complaining about the cvt. I’ve got a 2016 maxima platinum and I love the car. It’s fast doesn’t lag and is extremely comfortable and luxurious. The cvt gets amazing fuel economy and pulls hard for being just a naturally aspirated motor no turbo or supercharger. I’ve always loved the maximas. Best car I’ve driven

have all you complaining about the cvt driven the new maximas? didn't think so....i drove extensively 3 vehicles trying to figure out what 4 door to buy, dodge charger rt, wrx and maxima sr...the cvt was easily the most responsive..the immediate pull from 80-120 is far superior in the maxima....the issue, if anything, is front wheel drive vs rwd or awd but definitely not the transmission

Personally, I really enjoyed the Maxima's CVT. It's different in many ways than the CVTs that people are used to - I noticed none of the rubber-banding or lag. Obviously, it does still have the drone, but I also enjoyed the Maxima's engine note in person and the simulated shifts helped it not be a constant noise.
T0mm Teddy then why not buy the Altima 2.5 SV..... there is no reason to buy a maxima if the Altima 3.5 SL has the same features and same powertrain.
Cxjoker It about having as much as you can of everything. Power, fuel economy, luxury and that amazing looking interior. You wouldn’t buy a prius just because it has good fuel economy or a Indy 500 car for power.
I don't care what anyone says about the CVT. The Maxima has always been, and continues to be, a beautiful car. It's comparable to a BMW 535.

It competes with the Impala, Charger, Avalon, etc. Not the 535 or any luxury car, different segments.
I’ve driven the bmw 535 multiple times and the newest Nissan Maxima They are comparable and fun to drive . Beautiful cars

This car really almost was a home run for Nissan. The CVT definitely fucks up the car. Shame, it really is nice.
nissan already have their home run hitter cars which is the gtr and the 370 those are nissan sports cars this is a family sporty luxury sedan not a sports car big difference.So in my opinion nissan did the maxima right they just gave it a sporty edge ,but dont sleep i seen this car embarrassed a few so call suppossed to be fast cars

I own a 2p13 maxima. No problems with the car. Drives just loke any other automatic transmission except you don't hear or feel any gears being shifted and feels a lot smoother.
The best x tronic cvt ever..awesome job nissan..0 to 60 time 5.5 seconds in my 2017 maxima
C'mon nissan, ditch CVT, I've been using your CVT for a while now, initially, i like the smoothness but after a while it kinda bored me and the constant rpm is not fun either, plus sometimes it kinda buggy when when you accelerate

Nissan/Infiniti has a huge partnership with Jatco transmission company that builds the CVT and 7 speed automatic for the Q50, Maybe Nissan should ask Jatco to build a new front wheel drive 7 or 8 speed transmission automatic for the Maxima SR
People do your homework and not follow popular opinions cvt, are here to stay they are not a bad thing.

Say why ya want about the cvt, I've seen and even drove the max and it beats majority of all v6 cars. This with 300 hp awwww mane might keep up with hemi's
That Maxima is a monster. My mom has several cars and trucks but that 2018 Maxima is a jet on the road. Love it! The GPS system is awesome. Her car is smooth and quiet when I am driving.
it does beat all the V6 sport sedans but it also beats them to the repair shop

Nice car. I have 2017 Silverado and the lease is up in May. 50/50 on buying it or getting maxima or es350. I had 2011 g37x sedan before truck and loved it - bit small with two kids
everyone complains about the cvt trans. than dont buy the car there r plenty of choices with a stick.. get an infinity.. people complain about thing u dont have to get.. i have a 2011 max sv n i like the cvt it makes the car alot quicker with no gear changes n the sport or manual( i know its just the illusion of shifting ) make ut feel like an older ferrari ( the way the shifts feel) i have a built 98 prelude o

Very nice car but ruined completely by the cvt... Dont get me wrong here, they can use the cvt's in suv that pull loads n shit or just family vehicles for smooth rides and fuel efficiency but for these little sporty compacts i am completely against...

I love the idea of having the perfect ratio each and every time... but if I can’t disable the fake shifts, I ain’t buying.
CVT is meant to be stepless. If a CVT shifts, it voids the point of having one. It makes the car slower and less efficient.
U can have it normal or shifting mode
Sport mode seems to disable the fake shifts.

I thought the same until I drove it and it drives just like a conventional transmission and it is barely noticeable (the CVT) under hard acceleration if the music is into effect. It's an excellent car.

Does anyone know any channels where they just drive? I'm not really a big fan of the switching in and out of sports mode. I just want to watch normal driving.

Maxima,s was always known to be quick cars not a sports car level but i seen them embarrassed a few so call supposed to be fast cars.But its not a sports car its a sporty family sedan car they just say that because it handles very well and it has a lot of torque along with that sporty sleek look.

Regardless of the CVT the car is beautiful, it sounds awesome considering it's just a v6 and it has a ton of power, it really does get up and go.. When I first drove the 16 Maxima the power surprised the hell out of me. I also loved the fact the backseat space was HUGE.

Opinions on the CVT withstanding, those paddle shifters are an absolute joke. Well over half the time the shifts were denied each time he clicked them. So dumb.
I would choose an Infiniti Q50 over this Maxima just because it’s more luxurious and it has a 7-spd automatic

Depends on the vehicle. This one isn't all that bad. But there are plenty of them that suck.
Have a 16 SR and it's a large, sporty , luxurious ride. Say what you want about there choice for transmission, can tell you maxima's will embarrass a lot of V8s.

I understand why Nissan uses the CVT, but holy crap the drone when giving it the beans is awful. Makes a very convincing case for even a six-speed automatic. Oh, and quit trying to market this thing as a sports sedan; it's anything but.
