All these people complaining about the CVT and they haven't even driven the 2016 Maxima. This is a great car and quick enough for anything you'd need. For what it is, its almost too quick, being a FWD. The Ecoboost Mustang is about the same 0-60 but easier to control because you don't have the torque steer.
alot of people degrade this car for having a CVT but my advice is to go out And test drive one they are suprisingly responsive, yes they do drone the engine but its not bad and with 300 HP the car picks up very well, for an everyday car its nice, and reliability wise, they are pretty rock solid, my 2008 Maxima has 124k and still runs strong.
+Chris Capaccio When I drove the last generation Maxima I actually liked the CVT. This generation probably has a better one. I felt like I had to wake up the CVT with a couple of revs to get it out of its economy gearing.
+Chris Capaccio That would be great and all, but then what would be the point of the Infiniti Q50? I think they wanted to save the good stuff for the Infinities......but boy would this car be nicer with a real transmission!
I just got rid of an '07 Altima 3.5SE that lasted 170K miles and never had a problem with the CVT until the very end; I was NEVER able to say that about a regular automatic (usually they need a rebuild by the 80-100K mark). I now have the '16 Maxima; it's incredible! In sport mode, this thing moves out like a scalded cat (the CVT lingers in a lower "gear" with the afterburners ready to pounce). I know it's not a "4DSC" like everyone likes to say, but from 0-35mph, this car is hard to keep up with.
Nice to hear. I have a an 07 Altima 3.5 SE and love it. Just curious how often you changed the cvt fluid? And what eventually happened to it? Congrats on the Max. Nice car.
Nissan Maxima is a fantastic car! many people just don't understand how great these cars are. Tech'd out, very fast! rides smooth, looks very cool and sporty, Super reliable, Great gas mileage. just a bag of miles of smiles, try😄 it you'll like it.
This past year, it's so good to see you do Nissans and Infinites again, for a long time there were very few, whatever the reason was is obviously in the past, very nice work Kyle!
I love this car i bought one..the interior is superb..the x tronic cvt is responsive, smooth sporty and always in the powerband..the new revised 3.5 v6 is powerful..great job nissan..this is my first maxima and im loving it. This new maxima is freakin fast..
+enzo478784 The CVTs are getting better, so dont worry too much. You can still enjoy the car like this. I have a QashQai (sold in eurpe) with CVT and its really smooth and has the behavior described in this video. I am just hoping that no issues arise, lol. Up to now, everything has being perfect on my car.
+enzo478784 Yeah, but we cant do anything about it, lol. These type of cars arent that premium anyways. I dont think theyll put that kind of trans on these type of cars. Camrys and accords have traditional automatics.
+enzo478784 Nissan's CVT might have become a lot more refined, but only time will tell how reliable and durable it is over their previous generation CVT. This car would have been much better with an 8 speed transmission. Sporty and CVT is like an oxymoron!
My 82 yr old great uncle just bought one 2 weeks ago.. The car is so quick from a standstill, the power surprised the hell out of me. It does suck about the CVT but the sound coming from the car is pure sex to your ears.
+Braden McHenry That's the thing with Nissan. They'll make a great car and completely ruin it with something stupid. The GTR for example: _Wonderful_ car, but far too quiet. Honestly, my Mazda 3 is louder than it. The Maxima has everything you want in a sports sedan. Great steering wheel, seats, refined engine, brakes. But pairing it with a CVT and paddles is like being raped on your blind date.
Fantastic review, as always. Had the privilege to drive this vehicle during the LA Auto Show last year and it was the best car out of all the other cars I test drove that day.
What a throaty sounding engine! Reminds me of the old 3.1L V6 found on the Chevy Corsica I used to drive, as well as the other GM's from the 80's and 90's.
Boy, they really need to update that smart key. My 08 Altima has the exact same one. As for the car, it will probably be my next one. The CVT doesn't bother me, and it's an absolutely stunning car with plenty of power and features for anyone.
This car would really have stood out, if it was only available in rwd or awd. The Nissan Altima comes in fwd, so kind of makes the new Maxima rather redundant.
+archinuk417 I have 2011 SV sport Maxima and the CVT really isn't that bad.. It simulates gearing well in sport mode and if i'm just cruising around you're always in the right ratio for the most power and the paddles can be used anytime to help get up to speed.
I'm starting to see the appeal of this car after looking thoroughly through one (maybe a test drive sometime soon?). I always compared it to cars like the BMW 3 series & Infiniti Q50, which I was led to believe due to Nissan's constant emphasis on its 'sport sedan' nature. That is doing it ABSOLUTELY no justice. What you should see it as is a entry-level luxury car at a significantly lower price, but with performance bridging between everyday midsize sedans (e.g. Camry, Accord, Fusion and Altima) and starting entries of luxury brands (e.g. A3, CLA250). Due to its midsize roots with FWD & CVT as its calling card it won't win any 'sport sedan' comparisons, but these traits also make it less of a hassle & more fuel efficient for everyday use. Now how often do you drag race between stoplights & go trackday vs. going to work & going back & forth from supermarkets? See it not as a German luxury brand competitor but as a step up from mass-market brands with a luxury/performance edge while still having a significant value from small, FWD entry-level luxury brand entries.
It's typical Nissan. Produce a nice package but they have to throw a wrench into the mix. If I was looking to buy this car, that CVT is the deal killer.
But you understand that it has a "manual" mode just as a conventional automatic with slapshift does right? What's the difference to you, whether it's slapshift conventional or slapshift CVT? I agree it needs a manual way more than it needs any of these auto's but the CVT isn't as bad as people make it out to be
+Neal Burton CVT's make regular Auto's feel like dual clutches. They are whiny, slow, complicated and ultimately unreliable. They don't send power to the wheels nearly as good as a traditional auto box and they are far less responsive.
I fell in love with the maxima and I was about to buy one from the dealership and he was actually going to give it to me about 2k under the usual price. But one thing you must consider is that your insurance rates will go up because this car is about twice as much to repair if it was in an accident. For example a bumper would cost twice as much on this car as the car I have now. But other than that I really do not have anything to complain about.
+rock 2009 Lexus rx350 I love it never had a problem but I just don't want to start paying for expensive repairs and I drive a lot and I feel like I would save some gas with the maxima
Cvt is much better than normal gear automatic. I love how my 2015 Altima drives with it. I would have liked a manual option In addition to cvt but cvt all the way.
I have a nissan with CVT and ive got used to it and had no issues. But, they would be almost perfect with a 7 or 8 speed trans. All the new nissans are great cars, but the CVT issues that have plagued the cars ruins the deal for many. Havent ruined it for me, but im praying my car doesnt get any issue with the CVT, i love it so much :( This new maxima is one great car, id choose it over many other options.

Great Review Kyle! I really love that blue color. This seems like a more aggresive take on the Maxima. However, not sure why Nissan does not offer AWD or at least a dual clutch transmission.
I have always loved the Maxima but being from Minnesota I prefer having AWD which I have had in my last 3 vehicles (Ford Fusion, GMC Terrain, MB C350 4MATIC). As soon as they make the Maxima available in AWD I would seriously consider one as my next vehicle.
I like the new rear panel, rear bumper, and lights. The front looks like a step in the wrong direction from the previous generation, except for the headlights.
Great video Saab! If I may, I would love to give some feedback for your future vids. At the end of the vid, could you talk comparisons and maybe even give your thoughts. Thanks and great video!
I remember when my mom bought a Maxima. Her's was an SR with a Pearl White exterior color and the Camel interior color and it looked perfect. Then it got rear ended 9 days after she got it. It was a 3 car accident and it was caused by a man spilling his drink and trying to pick it up while the car was still moving which then he hit a guy in a pickup and the pickup hit us. I was in the back and two were in the front. Everyone was okay but the person who started the accident's car and our car wasn't. Our car was so new at the time that the collision center couldn't get the measurements for a certain piece for the rear bumper. Now we have a BMW 5 series and I will be honest, I like the Maxima more.
+Exquisite Pictures To make it simple it's like if the car had 1 speed. You don't feel any gear change like in regular automatics. It's incredibly boring to drive and removes any "feeling", but it's better on gas.

Wow I can't believe how good that exhaust note sounds at cold start.
+DE Media Sound I know! Even when warm, it sounded great.
+DE Media Sound first thing i noticed too....sounds just as good as the 370Z.
+Saabkyle04 bring back start up videos
+chase eckholm Every video has a start up lol :P I'm doing the pure sound videos too now.
+Saabkyle04 haha but like the dealership startups I really enjoyed those because of the variety
All these people complaining about the CVT and they haven't even driven the 2016 Maxima.

This car should really have Infiniti's 7-speed auto and 3.7L V-6. Now that would be an awesome combination. It should also have RWD or AWD.
+Chris Capaccio Agreed!
+Chris Capaccio When I drove the last generation Maxima I actually liked the CVT. This generation probably has a better one. I felt like I had to wake up the CVT with a couple of revs to get it out of its economy gearing.
I agree 100%

My 2010 Nissan Maxima is fun to drive 😇
You my friend have done your research. One of the best car reviews I'v ever seen. No joke. Good job!
Nissan Maxima is a fantastic car! many people just don't understand how great these cars are. Tech'd out, very fast! rides smooth, looks very cool and sporty, Super reliable, Great gas mileage. just a bag of miles of smiles, try😄 it you'll like it.
I'm gonna try it 👍🏾
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am absolutely falling in love with the way this car looks!
Good solid indepth review! Dope camera work @ 13:01 opening hood without blocking car view 💯😆. Scorsesian!
This past year, it's so good to see you do Nissans and Infinites again, for a long time there were very few, whatever the reason was is obviously in the past, very nice work Kyle!
i like that pure sound that do not sound like a v6 it sound like a v8
I love this car i bought one..the interior is superb..the x tronic cvt is responsive, smooth sporty and always in the powerband..the new revised 3.5 v6 is powerful..great job nissan..this is my first maxima and im loving it. This new maxima is freakin fast..
when I grow up I'm getting that car
It looks so mean, and awesome both inside and out!! It`s just a shame that it has a bloody CVT transmission and FWD.
+enzo478784 The CVTs are getting better, so dont worry too much. You can still enjoy the car like this. +Kevin Diaz Compared to dual clutch transmissions or even ZF's 8 speed transmission, they are still pretty shitty mate...
+enzo478784 but it is true, they are getting better and better... Hopefully one day they will be as good as the conventional ones! :)
+enzo478784 Yeah, but we cant do anything about it, lol. These type of cars arent that premium anyways. I dont think theyll put that kind of trans on these type of cars. Camrys and accords have traditional automatics.

man u really explain everything in detail..good job brother.
+Amir Sayyad Thank you :)
My 82 yr old great uncle just bought one 2 weeks ago.. The car is so quick from a standstill, the power surprised the hell out of me. It does suck about the CVT but the sound coming from the car is pure sex to your ears.
I think it's hilarious how big the paddle shifters are even though it's a cvt and doesn't have any real gears
+JoshorBrownKid A stock mazda 3 is not louder than a stock gt-r.
Heel Toe When it has an exhaust leak, yes.
woodywoodcakes No one's talking to you. Bye.
woodywoodcakes "Kid" lol. Whatever makes you sleep at night.
like how they have those huge paddle shifters to hide the fact that it's a CVT
They have the same function as in a traditional automatic. Not trying to hide anything.
+Vikk 54 Besides being fast, or as fun.
+CJBMAGGOT94 have you ever driven a CVT? Driving my car in manual mode is just as fun as an automatic. It even blips the throttle on downshifts.
Vikk 54 Yeah I have. It has been a while though. Wouldn't want to own one either way.
+CJBMAGGOT94 good for you. I'm sure they'll sell just fine without you.
I would buy this car as my first used sedan.
Fantastic review, as always. Had the privilege to drive this vehicle during the LA Auto Show last year and it was the best car out of all the other cars I test drove that day.
One of the most stylish (over-styled according to some) vehicles on the road! The Maxima always stood out from the segment in a big way!
the 2016 Maxima looks so awesome :-)
FINALLY! I was waiting for you to cover this, Kyle!
Man, Nissan's come a long way since the 90s.
I have this car. So far so good! Adaptive cruise control is the best thing.
Which year / model ? I'm posting my car tour soon on a 2017 Nissan Maxima.
I like this color, I also like how they look in silver and black. White doesn’t look bad either.
What a throaty sounding engine! Reminds me of the old 3.1L V6 found on the Chevy Corsica I used to drive, as well as the other GM's from the 80's and 90's.
not a bad review..at all. i learned pretty much everything i needed to. keep up the good work.
After having a 6th gen, I really want one of these. Thanks for covering it!
this nissian looks like a beast especilly with that grill.
I love your videos I always look forward to see what you have in store for us :)
+josuecuevas98 Same here!

excellent presentation!!! as always. I get excited for every new vid
Beautiful Nissan 😃
Yes!!!! I've been waiting for this video for forever
This car would really have stood out, if it was only available in rwd or awd. The Nissan Altima comes in fwd, so kind of makes the new Maxima rather redundant.
Sup Kyle, I appreciate you making these videos. Keep up the good work!!!
The CVT is a deal killer for me. They should have used the Infiniti 7 speed transmission.
I agree 100 %
Coming from a person who drives a CVT Altima, it's not that bad. You get used to it.
+archinuk417 I have 2011 SV sport Maxima and the CVT really isn't that bad.. It simulates gearing well in sport mode and if i'm just cruising around you're always in the right ratio for the most power and the paddles can be used anytime to help get up to speed.
I just got one and it drives pretty damn good
+Blaze Flame what year

a CVT is always a deal killer
Plus the fwd
+Tully3674 100% agree,, I have maxima 2010 and the CVT just went through shit with only 120000 km passed

I never like Maxima until this generation , Love it
I had this car over the summer as a rental love it I'ma get one soon I took it to 145 on the l.i.e and had a ball
that active engine braking sounds good. i do that in the twisties with my manumatic mode.
Amaaaazing review like always Kyle! :D Loving it!

I don't know if it's just me but I love the video quality:)
Excellent review Kyle! Will hopefully be leasing one in the next week. Wish it was AWD though.
Could've used the Infiniti 7-spd.
Tbh, I didn't really like it at first but I would love to own one now. Love the styling to it. #Nissan Nation!!
Cvt is much better than normal gear automatic. I love how my 2015 Altima drives with it. I would have liked a manual option In addition to cvt but cvt all the way.
In Middle East maxima comes with blind spot system, 360 camera.
علي الحميدان بالضبط
Awesome video Kyle 💪🏽🏆
Had a 2012 Altima with CVT. Never gave me problems but I hated the CVT. Traded it in for a 2009 Altima with manual trans

Outstanding review
I download your this video ! i love nissan since 2016 💕 💕 💕 and keep it up saabkyle may god bless you always 💕💕
looks beautiful!!
Great video! Congratulations you did a great job
Can you please do a review on the Volkswagen Golf R 2016!
Good review & great Nissan.

What is a CVT and why is it such a deal breaker to most people?
+Exquisite Pictures CVT is not for performance. It makes car just slower but more fuel efficient.
+Exquisite Pictures To make it simple it's like if the car had 1 speed. You don't feel any gear change like in regular automatics. It's incredibly boring to drive and removes any "feeling", but it's better on gas.

Amazing review!
my brother got this car a few months ago i have to say its a beautiful car
good camera work
Great review, very complete. Do you have a review on the Q50?
Great review me Kyle! I hope my mom is gonna sell her 2013 version and buy this one

Hey great review bro , I Owen this trim level in white... You miss something in the interior review , by gear shift there is an compartment that as two USB connection with AUX as well... Didn't know my rear seats can fold down lol thanks great for when I'm doing projects...
i like your video reviews like this
"NISSAN MAXIMA" very cool!!😉
Great Review!
Great review as usual. Can you review the New E-class W213 if you get the chance to?
Wow this car looks amazing ! Does anyone know the retail price on these cars ?
Everyone complaining about the cvt but hasn't even test drove the car...OKAY.
thank you the CVT in the Maximas are very responsive
+Zae B yeah the majority of these people on car channels act like they are Randy Pobst, but are actually still living in their mothers basement in their 40s playing too much Forza 5 and most likely drive a 95 Civic.
+Neo Smith sounds accurate haha
95 Civic LMAO!!!
Ive driven it, it sucks. You feel like your in a electric golf cart
Cool channel dude
love this i wonder if it was one of his favorite sedans
Wow! The trunk liner is already coming apart.
That is a very very nice car sko4 keep up that good work.
2:25 lmaoo, strong mouth breather in that rear view mirror
+Jason L Lmao he's so awkwardly looking
+rock omg lmfaoo
Hey Do u think you can review the 2016 BMW X1?
Great review! Did you watch the Detroit Auto Show?
Cant wait to get one
saabkyle for president :D
I have an 07 Altima 3.5 SE with 166,000 miles on it never had a single problem with the CVT- can't say that about a regular automatic transmission. Although it's not a performance transmission, it doesn't deserve all the trash talk.
+mitchlu 166,000 miles of pure boringness driving. Cool. Nobody is talking trash about their reliability.
+rock dumb ass kid you must be driving cycle
+mitchlu I owned a 08 sentra, bought it with 27k other that the usual brakes, tires, oil changes etc never had a single issue, wife was sittin at a red light got reared and totaled with 108765 on the odo, nobody hurt.
+Jay “Doomsday” Barnes ...that's fantastic!...glad you're all OK...Nissan FTW!
+rock who really wants to feel and hear gear shift
People, quit criticizing the CVT. It's still a great car.
Youve never had anything nicer than a grocery getter havent you
The GT-R's interior should really look more like this, it would make the car feel way more premium-like.
yass I've been waiting on him to do this car
Looks the best in white to me
