    The pickups made quite the difference! A bit too twangy for me but your demo might be enough to convince me to swap pickups for low output humbuckers! Cheers!

    Deffo got more twang-tone now you have the P90-types in. These little Mustangs were meant to chime, so good choice! Great vid!

    The original pickups sounded good. Maybe not "quite" as good, but pretty dang good. The new ones in the middle position sound a tad muddy, no? Nice upgrade and thank you for sharing.

    I’m gonna do something similar to my bullet mustang, but i’m curious as to which replacement part makes the big clarity difference. I’ve read that it’s the potentiometer, some say it’s the jack, while other say pick ups. I’m curious which one it actually is, or if it’s just a collective force of all the swapped parts. Either way, great video.

    • @ZombieBath
      @ZombieBath 3 роки тому

      What makes more difference are the woods and the pickups. The Bullet has already a very clear and open sound, indebted to the poplar wood Squier uses. If you choose a good pickup you will have even more sound quality. But use 250k pots ti tame the highs (even with humbuckers) because the poplar is too trebly yet.

    • @user-cc8xu7ew5y
      @user-cc8xu7ew5y 3 роки тому +2

      @@ZombieBath That’s pretty much spot on with what I found. I ended up swapping the pickups with the ones featured in the video, and there’s a substantial difference in clarity, with the inclusion of the sick tone that these bring. I have yet to put in the 250k fender pots in, but the pickups are definitely an improvement

      The pots and the jack don't change the sound at all. Pickups do, though.

    I can see going with a better set of humbuckers, but those p90s don't do the little mustang justice. Everyone has their own preference so if you like them congrats. The cosmetic appeal is definitely a good change.

    This was helpful especially for the electronics and fit info. Two questions: what pots are those? I keep reading I might need to drill holes in my mustang but the control plate is metal…. What size are those? Also, newb question is that just a file you used to make the pickguard wider?

      hahaa yes its more about the cosmetic, its a cheap guitar, the tuner and bridge parts are better from the stock and now stays in tune, the pickups is cheap and very magnetic and after a time i change it now im thiking to put some gretsch filtertone humbucker

      @@StamatisStabos The tuners and bridge are not the problem, they're fine as far as keeping it in tune. Guitars go out of tune because of humidity changes, some guitars being more susceptible than others.

      @@StamatisStabos a P90 IS a single coil!! Just a DIFFERENT style wind/bobbin shape that gives off a different tone.... a JAZZMASTER has yet another style of Single coil, with a different again tonal output, due to yet another style bobbin wind shape compared to strats and Teles.... What the hell is the point of spreading a towel underneath when you're going to dump all the metallic parts onto the guitar, use it like a table and get it scratched and even dented everywhere?

    I have jthe imperial blue model coming in the mail. Soon I hope. I like your guitar and I admire you for all things you can do. The wiring in particular, I've never tried that. You've got me thinking I should get real and replace the pots for the heck of it, broaden my guitar experience. Your whole guitar looks better for the changes you've made and that easily makes the project worthwhile. Period. BUT. While the before and after sound demo reveals a difference in the the sounds produced, I cannot convince myself that one is better than the other. Both sound nice just a little different. But the speaker on my Samsung cellular fone is a tiny chip of poo. Your comments state that you replaced the originals with cheap pickups. Just once, on an Epi entry level guitar did I replace a stock bridge pickup with a $140 new Jeff Beck pup, anticipating a sudden mind-blowing transformation. Nothing zero nada nix zippo. That huge disappointment made me realize that if I'm going to change pups ever again, do it for looks only and stay cheap. So I say that you done good because your new pups dress up your guitar. I want to impress myself that my Mustang looks different than the millions of others rattling around the world, different even from yours. So I will shop for the cheapest pups I can find that will look distinct on my Imperial Blue model and install them. You have inspired me with your top notch tutorial. I think I'll leave the pots alone because I absolutely don't believe they make any difference at all. Thanks for your video!

      Thank you! yes i believe those guitar are for two reasons for beginners and for those who want to modified them, the pickups are cheap you can try different and see what you personal like most,
      its really fun to experiment with guitar building you learn the instrument better and you have better knowledge about what is good and what bad, i hope you have fun and create a cool instrument, dont forget to shim the neck for better action and playability 👍🎸✨
