The new aftermarket carburetor was so cheap. I chose to get it instead of dismantling and clearing those clogged paths on the old carburetor. I had a lot of luck, switching out a starter and solenoid previously. I'm just about to install my new carburetor and hope for the best. If that doesn't work I should do what I probably should've already done and check the fuel cap. The problem is I don't know how to tell if it's functional or not. Can you help me with that? Oh and I wanted to say thanks for the tip about doubling up the nuts on the one post for the carburetor so I could undo the linkages easily. I was baffled at first, but after watching it three times I understood.
to check if the cap is venting, disconnect the fuel line at the filter near the right foot pedal. Fuel should drain from the line when you move the end of the hose below the frame due to gravity and pressure differential. Capture the fuel in a container and watch to see if the fuel flow stays "continuous" or if the flow starts to slow down. This would show that the cap is not venting air into the tank. IF it does this, then open the fuel cap and if the flow starts back up, then you'll know the cap needs to be replaced or if you need to put a small hole in it

Take off original carb, clean throughly and blow out fuel line back into tank to remove anything restricting free flow - done - runs like a champ - new carb - nope but solution of it is truly dead - stihl chainsaws have that problem after a few years and lost of mesquite corrosion!
if the carb you replaced was new, and the issue is fuel related then either there's an issue with the fuel pump, clogged filter, swollen Fuel line, or some obstructions in the tank.

The fuel lines and fuel pump should probably be replaced at that age. Try to run Non-ethanol gas too. Putting ethanol in gas was a stupid idea, pollutes more, get worse gas mileage and deteriorates rubber hoses over time. Bad for cars and small engines.
i think you should look for a used hood and a back tire and a overall cleanup its worth it now that it runs fine or mabye even make a "restoration" video
The hood is going to be tough, as for the tire and wheel, I'm not looking forward to trying to make it off.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE i really appreciate how you care about your viewers and reply to every comment👍
That means a lot to me stv pls.
I would have tried to fix it again, probably because I am too cheap to spend the money on a new, even if it is a cheap aftermarket. You seam pretty knowledgeable so betting you would have fixed it the 2nd time around. Did you ever figure this out?
how many times are you going to try and fix it until you decide to get a new one?
I would of replaced it to save time. Nothing runs like a Deere!
I absolutely agree with you
If you couldn't fix the carburator, and had to replace it, I would replace it to cuz there's no way in the world is ever find the problem
as much as Like finding out the cause for a problem, sometimes I would rather just get rid of the problem and get whatever it is, working again. No headaches.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE Exactly
I all ways run my equipment out of gas when I store them away for the winter until the next spring season
very nice!
Take off original carb, clean throughly and blow out fuel line back into tank to remove anything restricting free flow - done - runs like a champ - new carb - nope but solution of it is truly dead - stihl chainsaws have that problem after a few years and lost of mesquite corrosion!
thank you Andy Hancock.
Not certain of your job but there's more money to be made on riding mowers than trimmers. Good luck.
so very true
Replaced the carb and still only runs on choke
if the carb you replaced was new, and the issue is fuel related then either there's an issue with the fuel pump, clogged filter, swollen Fuel line, or some obstructions in the tank.
Opps my bad fuel is ok didnt see fuel line runs on the other side
I have had a lot of success cleaning carburetors using carbcleaner and a sonic cleaner with built-in heater (before I had the sonic cleaner with its own heater I heated up the liquid before I turned on the sonic cleaner)
I would get one, I just don't want to use it on the channel, I don't want to show that you need to buy this to clean a carb. Most people will never clean a carb in their life, so for those few people that might do it once or twice, it way not be worth it.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE Good point as it is to be educational for a broader audience.
This Is Mower not a space shuttle
Use the old one for Parts
thank you George Martinez
most times its fuel related
you are correct
from my point of veiw the china parts have been very reliable ,the only one i wont use now are the fuel pipe they go soft and break after a few weeks, but here un the uk if i did not use the non genuine carbs all quotes would be declined so i tell them what could happenand 90 % are happy to go ahead
that makes sense, thank you Thomas Caulfield.
I havee 14hp b&s twin cyld çhanged carb coil cleaned tank changed fuel line plugs and still need more choke than not🎉😂😂
does your engine have a fuel pump? Have you confirmed how the fuel flows thru the Fuel Filter?
No fuel pump, the fuel seems to stay à the same level in filter😂Q
I think I will do a test with another tank temp and give it more fall, I'll let you know
to confirm fuel flow thru the filter, you'll have to disconnect the line and watch the flow rate.
Okay!
Why isn't the caption of this video ( just buy a new carb) FIX.
because it wouldn't describe the problem someone might be having
Hi
hello Super Mario Logan 2.0
go the clone it's worth the risk ...
I agree
Take the solenoid out and cut the plunger off.
I've done that before
Fixit don’t spend the money
a very wise decision
I'm sure we all can replace a carburetor we're not trying to replace it we're trying to fix it
I've wrenched one or two motorcycles with various carburetor configurations but came HERE to see if there were any tips or hints. To say "we all can change a carburetor" really means "you" can do it. I thought his video was fine for a novice which was his intended audience.
NEVER EVER start an engine at high rpms.......
never ever

thanks, but it's not mine, just close by
