Due to the fact that I really don't like the factory presets, I decided to program some own sounds for this little monster. I tried to cover a wide range of sounds, including bass, bellish, wavetable and string sounds but also sampling, granular and sequences. Some of you want to hear sounds without effects so I bypassed them from time to time. I also jumped between some menu pages so you can see a few configuations. Have a look on the modulations - there are some surprises!

Feine Demo!
Beowulf Wahnfried Weise Entscheidung!
Great stuff!!! Some of the best Quantum patches I’ve heard.
Well done! Excellent sounds and the first video that gives a good impression of how far one could get when programming ones own sounds. I wish it wasn´t so darn expensive!
YOU MEAN DAMN!!!! LOL
@@superprim12 I typed it wrong to add a lighter touch but you got the point anyway. :-)
I finally received mine! It’s amazing ❤️
Great demo, i love your sound at 18:45
Congrats on this amazing machine :) Thanks for all the videos
Now not only do I want a Kyra but you’ve got me craving the Quantum too.
Beautiful sounds. I would love to play one of these.
Sei stato bravissimo! Grazie! Ho il WQ da due giorni e concordo: i preset non sono assolutamente all'altezza. Sto cominciando a muovermi e queste tue indicazioni sono preziosissime! Grazie.
1520 hard wavetable when you turn on the reverb is amazing
Great demo! Thanks 😁
ok, so u take sample sounds from the "field" & create ur own personal presets- very nicely done
Nice work.👉
WALDORF NEEDS TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS ASAP:
•The screen touch response is pretty BAD, first and foremost
•Fix Multisampling workflow
•Latch to external Keyboards
•Visual feedback on the Wavetable scroll
•Step Sequencer increase (32 steps is too short for the SEQ)
•Undo feature (at least one step)
STS-51-L reminded me of Ron's Piece.
Hello, how many preset sounds in waldorf quantum
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Just curious, with your expertise with the Blofeld, could most of these sounds be produced using the Blofeld? As much as I would love to have a Quantum, somehow I keep thinking that the Blofeld is not that far off from what the Quantum can typically produce.
Thanks :) The Blofeld can sound better than most people think. But the Quantum has other possibilities (like granular synthesis, sequencer, other effects...) and has a better sound quality. The bass is clearer, the transients are snapier, you can hear more details. All in all, the two machines are too different. But everyone has to make an own decision if the plus is worth $3800.
"The Most Creamy Thing" 5:07 sounds like an Xpander - and when you detune it at the end it's what it feels like when the ecstasy kicks in. Not that I condone the use of recreational drugs. Every sound here is excellent and you should be writing preset banks for Waldorf Music. I Initially thought that the UI needed some help, but upon second thought, it's very retro basic. And heck, how bad was the UI on the PPG Waveterm ;). Due to this synth having firmware updates, do you expect Waldorf to implement FM?
I heard they already added FM!
Can you go through the samples that are on board the Quantum please?
The samples in my Quantum are actually not that amazing: A lot of noise, bell and chime sounds, some drones and effects. I think, every owner of a Quantum has to load own samples into this machine (via SD card) to fulfill the individual wishes.
On 11.30 and 20.54 I see a kind of xy controller. You did n’t touch it.
Can you explain what you can do with it?
Ein Klavier is already in or did you put it in?
What an amazing machine!
Thanks.
The XY screen can be used for modulation. You can route X and Y to any parameter with the modulation matrix and then play it with your fingers (i.e. LFO1 speed is X and LFO2 speed is Y and so on...).
The piano samples were already in the Quantum but they were not used in a patch/sound. So the samples came from Waldorf and I did the configuration for key and velocity ranges in the sound.

Thanks!
So, all the samples you used are the intern ones from the Qu?
Please make some more demos.
The quantum is so ahead of the others. It’s expensive and it’s expensive for a reason
I exchanged my erroneous E-mu EIII (kb) for this one two years ago, and so far I absolutely don't regret it. Although I am supposed to, but no. :-)
From E-Mu EIII to the Waldorf Quantum - that's a huge jump.
Did you record the sound on the camera only?
No, direct to DAW. Cam sound is off.
@@SynthesizerVideo oh ok dunno why sounds like that to me. thank you.
Can I ask, how did you make that pad starting at 5:00. Just wonering if you could recreate that on the Blofeld, I know it's not the same filter though, did you use any layering, or wavetables for that? Would you be willing to do a small walkthrough of that specific patch. The Granmothers clock sequence is pretty amazing too, especially the last bit. The patch called STL is just really cool, I want to ask if you can walk through that as well, I have so many questions haha
for a creamy sound on the blofeld you need the phaser effect ( and may be the delay ), saw waves or PWM, and ... a lot of tube saturation on the PPG filter ( this is the secret element of the recipe).
He is using a 8 waves supersaw with detune for the waveform. Then this is not for the blofeld if you want to recreate the sound at the perfection.
Yeah, jean-louis pech explained it quite good! I use sawtooth oscillators with detune, unisono, phaser and reverb. Also using a notch filter type which is frequency modulated by a slow LFO, which makes it about 17% more creamy ;) Don't forget to stereo-spread the unisono voices in the Blofeld. Watch my videos about 1. Unisono-Spreading ("10 Facts and Tricks"), 2. Reverberation ("Best Reverb") and 3. Phasing ("Best Phaser")!
blofeld is a wonderful pad machine..maybe the best one for that purpose !
yeah, you can make that sound on the Blofeld - I made at least a half dozen different supersaw-style pads on the Blofeld for my recent soundsets, and they can be modded up to sound more like the one here with changes to the Noise and Phaser levels
Might your lovely patches be available...for a fee of course?
Yes: www.frequture.net/products/quantum-iridium-patches/
@@SynthesizerVideo That wonderful except I can't purchase the patches because there is no UK/Britain/England in your address drop-down menu and so rejects my postcode. Can you add UK please? I have sent you an email about this too. Thank you.
Yes, due to legal reasons our store is limited to the European Union. Our membership is the alternative: frequture.net/youtube
