Honestly, it's basically what Blazar did. Giving us something familiar but with a few tweaks to make it unique except this time, it's more light-hearted and bright. Love how the lighting feels soft and comforting (at least to me-) and that timer during the fight is freaking genius- I never seen anything like that and I'm a big Ultraman fan since I was a kid-
Love how Ishido being the sort of cool character stereotype is a bit more of a gentlemen and not really that mean and cold rival type of character, I love him and the coffee gag it's a breath of fresh air.
The fact that the protagonist's already a somewhat experienced ultra is also refreshing, the last time we ever got that kind of protagonist would be Gai as Ultraman Orb as you've already mentioned in the video- except he has that youthful and goofy personality that we see in previous series before Blazar.
I personally love how simple Arc's design, a huge contrast compared to Blazar who is super detailed from head to toe. Arc's giving me showa vibes and I adore it-

I really like that Hiroyuki Takami, who previously played Dan Masamune, sings the opening theme. Before the countdown message, I couldn’t quite put my finger on why I liked the opening theme so much. Also, I had never actually heard access before, and I guess Ultraman is a pretty good way to start. Even if they have done stuff before.
He actually sings Dangerous Zombie Theme "Wish in the dark" so you probably hear him more than once before

I think the reason why Arc look simple from below the neck is because they want to be more showa-like in premise.
There are surprisingly a lot of reference to older Ultra show especially Return of Ultraman.
The sword guard eye also resemble the ultra eye that Seven and Zero use to transform.
However yeah it is a bit off putting that the top part on his head and neck are very New Gen with the blacks and more detailed head. But from chest to below everything is all red and silver/white. The suit designer should've either add more black to Arc's lower area to fit the new gen design or just commit to the simple red and silver of Showa.
the op song also use a remix of part of the first ultraman song.
Watched it dubbed, which is not how I normally watch Toku. I really enjoyed it. I am excited to see this crew grow together and keep watching the show.
Correction about SKIP and the GDF. SKIP liaises with and aids the GDF with research and civil defence roles. Yuma's team is only a branch of the main SKIP organisation; a side team of the side team.
Also something not many people picked up on is the Shin Ultraman nods with Arc's henshin (Arc hugging Yuma like how ShinMan's hand rises and grasps Shinji) and the timer in the corner referencing the timer in Shin Ultraman during the final confrontation against railgun Zetton.

A little bit of fun fact. The chief here is played by abare red and the lead girl was in kamen rider ghost as well. Since Arc’s host is within the small sub team, does it mean the official defense group is incapable? Will they be needing their own cube to combat the monsters of the week perhaps a second ultraman or an evil one in the future. Never thought the small group will get a whole season of screen time. It’s like when superhero movies focus on the clean up crew and scientist pov.
SKIP doesn't combat monsters. They only do research and civil defence roles. They liaise with and help the GDF, and Yuma's team is only a small branch of the actual larger SKIP organisation.
I was initially skeptical about ARC based on the trailers, so I really did not expect all the stuff the first episode did. Here's hoping it stays strong.
It was a strong first episode I can't wait to see how Yuma and Arc bonded. Ishido I think has more to him that will come out during the show. I liked the fight sequence and how he used his barrier as a weapon. The pace of the episode was strong and I was able to enjoy each scene and characters.

even Ace, the master of rays attack variations probably wouldn't have thought of that, that's some Blazar level of creativity
You know, when I first watched the episode, I knew I had heard the robot buddy's voice somewhere before, and it wasn't until later that I realized it was Yuya Hirose, aka SSSS.Gridman's Yuta. But then I went a checked Wikipedia to see if they had the English dub cast posted, and I was shocked to see that said robot was voiced by Brandon McInnis, meaning that he's Yuta in Japanese AND English. Now I'm wondering if that was intentional or just a happy coincidence.
Also did not realize that the team captain was played by AbaRed's actor. That's probably more surprising than finding out that the team captain from Ultraman X was previously Dr. Maki from Kamen Rider OOO.
Gridman was still part of Tsuburaya Prod. franchise, so that was probably intentional
I really wish kamen rider went the ultraman route and was free on youtube
Might take time since they kinda doing a Japan focus marketing
for now we just need to hold onto the first 2 episodes of each series here
I’ve never like ultraman except for ultraman rising but Arc changed my mind I tried to watch blazar and count get into it but I think Arc is gonna be my first full watch of the series hopefully it keeps the tones it has now or incorporates gotchards light heated tones along with the dark moments and storylines
please give ultraman nexus a try. Its what i consider peak ultraman for tone and storytelling. So if youre not into reiwa/new gen ultras give heisei a chance. I also reccomend tiga,mebius,max. Additionally If you liked ultraman rising, Shin Ultraman is a MUST WATCH movie. Have a good day
If you want a light-hearted but still capable of being serious ultraman show, I think Z fits the note.
So is Geed, but this one may require some prior knowledge on ultra series, as it's pretty much a culmination to a certain storyline that started after Mebius.
Blazar is unique, but somewhat a bit more mature in terms of theming, so I guess I can understand why some people couldn't quite get to it.
Please also give Mebius a watch it's an anniversary for the good old day showa ultras and has a good life lessons
I like how Ultraman Arc is following the new trend in super hero media where the hero is already established and his origin story doesn’t need to be rehashed for like the millionth time.

2:04 - Yeah, I noticed that our MC felt like a combination of characters. But I’m very interested in his Origin story with Arc since I haven’t read any of the press Material for Arc! But I really like how underfunded SKIP feels, as they group is basically a bunch of On-foot Scientists, who HAVE to be equipped with Lazer Handguns to defend themselves.
4:41 - 5:16 I showed this Fight scene to my mom, she hadn’t seen ANY of the Newest Ultraman Stuff before.
And this fight scene was DOPE! The Tsubaraya Studio Company has been experimenting for a long time with these Camera angles, and these details, as well as the scenes of Office workers running around in a build as Arc is trying to stand up is so Satisfying to see! I remember when a lot of the Older Godzilla Films use to show those devastation scenes with those original overlays.
It’s crazy how far this company has come.
7:20 - Yeah, that almost Zetton looking Kaiju Horn looks interesting! It definitely gives us a sense of doom after that new parasite creature comes into existence.
7:55 - THAT was a Really cool idea! It’s definitely a twist on the Alien invaders as Parasites. And it definitely makes me think we’re going to be seeing more of the backstory behind these things later on.
Arc's design was intentionally like that, as a homage to Showa Ultras. I heard this from somewhere but the top and lower half having this design disparity is because the designer was told to do the usual for the head but go for a Showa look for the rest of the body.
Ultraman Arc is awesome gives me Jack and X's vibes looking forward to the new Gen of Jack the Ultraman Arc and more episodes to come.

I like how mysterious Arc himself is, like him and Yuma don't really communicate in the same way most Ultras and their hosts do.
They barely share a word with each other, sometimes Arc just literally points something out to Yuma but otherwise keeps to himself.
This episode was awesome so i give it the ARC A
I actually really liked the ep too! It was awesome and I had soooo much fun with it! Plus, Yuuma is a very interesting protagonist to me!

What I like about the design is going from Blazar who is a very unique ultra design who stands out in the crowd to a very standard ultra is very nice while it will not be my favorite design ever but i love how it's different from blazar

Watched the opening of the newest Ultraman to make his debut and it was fun. A fresh new take on the series, don’t get me wrong Blazer was okay but it felt out of place after trigger and decker. Arc feels like a return to forum where it can be light hearted but also serious when it needs to.

Personally for me, i found Arc to be the most generic Ultraman premiere yet.
