Did you know this wasn't originally plan to be an ultraman movie. the original movie script was about an ultraman/sentai inspired heroes, when the movie was picked up by Netflix, it was turn into a proper ultraman movie.
Sometimes Netflix actually does something good
You seem to be taken aback by the fact that there are Ultraman figures & toys in this movie but if you actually watched the older Showa & Heisei Ultraman shows, they also had Ultraman & Kaiju toys. In-universe, some toy companies just use Ultramen & the kaijus as source for their toys. After all, there's no right holders for Ultraman & the kaijus in their world and they won't get sued because of using their likeness (coz those Ultramen & kaiju won't even bother with legalities).

My understanding of the movie's plot in regards to Prof. Sato and Gigantron is that the big fight between the two 20 years in the past didn't have any major ramifications for Sato-- it was Ken, Emiko, and Onda whose lives were affected by it the most. Sato drove off Gigantron but Onda's families were casualties, and a later scene in the movie shows that the same very nearly happened to Ken and Emiko. I think the implications were that the battle was too much of a close call for the Sato family, so Emiko made the decision to raise Ken in America instead.
Sato becoming disabled from an injury and retiring from his role as Ultraman is something that happened much closer to the start of the film's events (since the old lady said Ultraman was gone for months).

Honestly I loved this movie. Arguably more than regular Ultraman.
Not to say mainline Ultraman is bad. But at least in my experience a lot of Ultraman has a very deliberate pace. Largely governed by the fact that most of the major aspects of the world work off time limits. And while that's not a bad thing- I think it gives the series a distinct identity- it does come with the side-effect of making the trek episode to episode a bit dull for me, at least compared to how kinetic Sentai/Power Rangers and Kamen Rider can be. So consolidating that down to a movie helps a lot with the pacing, especially since this version of Ultraman has a bit more fluid timer.
Past that it was a very fun and cute movie with some neat ideas. Also a very cool final fight.
I have to agree. This movie is my current favorite piece of ultraman media.

I wasn't planning on watching this movie ngl I thought it was gonna be trash cause it was a Netflix movie but I wish I could go back in time in strangle myself because this movie was amazing it had a good message good animation and the action scenes had no right to be this good I was literally crying at the end because of how good this movie is also you have to watch the final fight at the end because it is so cool and such a good scene great movie definitely recommend 👍

I wasn’t expecting to like this movie that much, I found the plot strange. But I was blown away, the family aspect, the sports, the superhero, the Kaiju, it’s all meshed into one beautiful masterpiece of a movie. Align with that the final battle was really cool and good

Amazing movie. It has a lot of heart. It is a great family movie. That after credit scene got me hooked. I hope they do a sequel
Someone may have said this, but Gigantron broke Ultra-Dad’s leg. So it was defeated, but barely, and almost at the cost of Dad’s life.
Really loved the movie. A lot more than i thought i would. Hopefully a sequel isn't too long a wait!

The shaking leg detail had the same effect on me. It's such a human thing to do, but it just seems to slip up writers/animators' minds when deciding what body language to use to portray a character's personality.
9:23 There is some of that in Episode 7 of Trigger, but ya weird the series doesn't so that more often
I'll be real, i've never watched a Ultraman series. Always been more of a Rider fan. But holy shit this movie was amazing, and that spider-verse like animation was such a good choice. That final transformation scene when Ken gets the traditional transformation scene actually made me tear up with a little bit of joy. Also the akibaranger references were out of nowhere but a nice.

When I was looking through the end credits of the movie yesterday, I noticed that one of the people on the production team was named Hayden apparently. When I did a Google search for the cast, I couldn’t find anything, and that’s when I realized that this person was probably on the production team, so maybe I will see if that’s true or not.
Well, I found out that this guy was actually the visual director.
I didn't like the baby kaiju concept
Plus why did they make onda look like the bad guy when he wanted to do the best thing for humanity
He literally even saved the lives of his soldiers too
There was honestly no reason to keep the Kaiju except for the fact that he has no friends and he was lonely 😭😭😭

If I was a Kaiju I would keep a newborn Kaiju if I found it but neither I or the main character is a Kaiju.
Plus Kaijus are threatening human lives so why would you compare an nonhuman threat to a human baby
Additional fact the Kaiju baby was also like 20ft tall... You cannot compare that to a human baby in any way

The name Gigantron sounds too generic for this Melba rip-off kaiju.
Emi ruined the movie for me she's annoying and plus I hate kids in media anyway and her design is weird her parent is cool looking she looks like a human child bruh if she looked like a baby bird she would have looked cuter
