I agree with this video. Its not always easy to get the perfect training in at the club thou, largely depending on the ppl who u play with. Many esp older players are not really much into drills so you need to find good training partners too to do those regularly. For me personally i have a robot at home (Robo Pong 3050xl) which can do basically anything pretty realistically and i train with it on a daily basis from warm up topspins to complex drills with varying amount of backspin to open up into open play and it greatly improved me over the last 2 years, in addition to club play 4x a week. So i get plenty of drills in (like falkenberg or the random rally one described above) but what they lack is reading spin (from serve or even just the block) and continueing attacking the balls that get blocked/countered back after my attacks by normal players (esp in the Backhand where i lack feeling), which the robot cant simulate. So im very good in the warming up / straight topspin play and opening up underspin balls, even a LOT better than my current TTR Rating, but im worse at recieve and any balls that are not fast/straight but more wierd in any way: like slower, higher, shorter etc so im doing easy mistakes against those. Im doing falkenberg and 2/2 and the likes with my buddies too, just im very good at those already once im used to how the ball goes, im bad whenever the ball gets wierd rather if u know what i mean ;) Wondering if u got any ideas how i could improve my training specifically, like some special drills with the robot or what drills i should focus on when training with my buddies to target my weaknesses?
Right. My advice: play as many matches against as many different opponents as you can. If you lose, ask them what you did wrong and how they were able to beat you. I know what you mean by “weird shots”. It’s all about match / realistic play experience. The best thing you can do is practice playing against those “weird shots” as much as you can.
Great tips. What are your thought on training using VR (Eleven Table Tennis) for those of us who have trouble finding a table or training partners? Do you know people who have made strides in their game through VR training?
I’ve never tried VR Table Tennis so unfortunately I wouldn’t know. I would imagine it would quite different to real life though. Perhaps a source of entertainment as opposed to a way of effective training. Thanks for the comment 😄
@@kushbaveja A good friend has improved his game materially on VR, from US 1200 level to 1500 level. He set up a whole range of practice drills (like the Falkenburg) and even found a coach on VR! I just started trying it out myself to see if there's something to this.
I am planning to get Evolution MX-S on FH & Xiom Vega Japan on BH. My blade is Stiga Offensive Carbon. Current setup is Rakza 7 soft on both side. I am at intermediate level & improving my skills. Would these rubbers be good for me?
I couldn't tell you if I haven't seen you play to be honest. Sorry (Intermediate isn't a definitive description that I can judge peoples ability on). If you feel its the right option, then go for it! It can't hurt to try
this video was really helpful thank you so much
