      Great supporter of Dan and love following the series but this is the most stupid episode i have seen. So Dan arrives in Cancun with a naff back tyre. He has best part of 2 weeks to order one in and then leaves Cancun with the same Tyre on absolute shite roads for a trip out in the middle of nowhere.....Not clever Dan...You should have known much better than that....

      @@rabfallon4507 So being in Cancun for 2 weeks why didn't danny order one? Could have ordered it when he got there unless he just didn't look when he got there? Then Danny says that 'should get me home' ...You kidding me....On those roads?......Love the vlog and have told danny that......'Its the smartest thing you can do is change oil and filter' dan says......What about a squared off back tire....Danny is man enough to take constructive criticism i am sure

    I’ve ridden thousands of miles on a plugged tire before with no problems. The trick to getting the plug in easier, is to push it in while there is still air escaping from the hole. Keep your reaming tool in until the plug is ready to go, so you loose minimal air pressure.

    • @barrybarnes96
      @barrybarnes96 2 роки тому +3

      Aren't you supposed to push the plug right through and then pull it half way back out before trimming it off?

      @@barrybarnes96 no mate, should just go it until the plug is all the way through with the ends sticking out a little, then leave a few mm sticking out after you cut it as the heat etc will expand the tire and that gives you a little extra plug.

    Great footage Danny again cheers.Your right road blockades are bloody nerve racking, reminded me watching this when 20 odd years ago I was in a remote part of Philippines and had been riding back to motel from a day out and quite a few Long Island ice teas. Rode into a police stop both sides of the highway, night and no one else on the roads, friend on the back well she got very nervous which was a immediate sign. I rode through past maybe 6 points and every 20 metres police were there holding polished shotguns in their hands, bloody nerve racking😅 It was just at this point I thought I’m going to rode straight through this whole thing and then of coarse the next one waved me in…Turns out the bike had no rego, it was the friend on backs fathers bike, I had a nsw bike licence on me only and she had no helmet on. He told me we had a problem to which I politely told him we don’t need problems and I had a idea. Some folding stuff and the instruction was given to her if any of the other police pulled us up as we left here that he was her Uncle and he had spoken to us, even gave us his name..wow and off we rode past the remaining officers, felt like the roadblock went for two kilometres and we hightailed straight back to the motel and I thought wow glad that wasn’t In Newcastle Aust 😂

    Had a Honda Valkerie when I lived in the mountains of Tn. Knew my back tire was getting worn so I bought a new one. I had it home in my cabin waiting for the "right time to change". Well, I road this bike everyday to work (50miles away) and when I was leaving work and walking up to the bike, I saw something on the tire. When I got up to it, I realized it was worn thru the steel belting of the tire! I was never so nervous driving the twisties coming home. I had the tire changed the next day and of all things, when I got ready to mount it on the bike, I noticed he put it on backwards and had to go back and have him do it again. Lesson learned: Don't push your luck trying to get a few more miles out of a tire and check it on the rim before you leave the bike shop.

Had you replaced the tire I honestly think you would not have caught the rock. . .I know this from experience!

    In my city the "boutique" said he doesn't stock tires. The local multi-marque dealer buys tires by boxcar. He would hold on to tires for people travelling through, however.
    I can't see Chiapas getting a rail connection. You've gotta make tons of product or connect deep water ports. Mazatlan to Veracruz is already transcontinental.

      Spot on. It's vulcanized rubber and hardens with heat. The road surfaced will grind off the plug within a few km's.

    I carry a foot pump also I think if you were more diligent on plugging it might have hold better but that is the adventure you bring bro, love to watch you get in trouble.

    I learned my lesson with a tire like yours back in 1978. I was in Colorado, looked at my tire, it looked like yours, and I said, “I can make it 1300 miles to Ohio”. Not quite! Set me on my ass on I80 in the middle of Nebraska. Good luck Danny. Ride well. \m/

    Itchy Boots would give you a failing mark for leaving with that bald tire to travel on the terrible roads in Mexico! Personally, after over 50 years of riding my motorcycles, I learned very early that good tires on your motorcycle or any vehicle for that matter are cheap insurance. There's nothing between you and the road but your tires. Never cheap there!

      Danny would rather spend $500 a night on a hotel room, then cheap out on tires.
