Thanks for another good video. Your Pawpaw and mine sound slot alike. He was a blacksmith, welder, machinist, and farmer. He pretty much let a man to himself unless they crossed him or insulted a lady. II watched him , at 66, drop an idiot cold that was insulting to my grandma. I think he was as mad that day as I ever saw him. He lifted the guy with one hand by the collar then slapped him across the mouth. Dropped him out cold and walked away with everyone in the store watching and grinning.

Love the grandpa stories, I grew up with men like that in my life, sure has changed. Thanks for the video, enjoyed the stories once again. Parts inventory is a problem nation wide, which is a sad state of affairs in our country. Thanks for the video Warren, enjoyed watching.

Hi Warren, said it before, say it again, NO substitute for skill.
You my friend have it in spades. Hope your customers watch your channel. "Warren, help, my stuffs broke, help, ... now!"
And you do.... try and get em all going, with skinned knuckles, blood sweat and tears. Then the parts supplier comes up short. Got the main component, but WTF no gasket ,seals clamps etc??? Job in the toilet more time lost. Why , why, why don't they make sure that when a component is supplied that it's 100% ,going to need gaskets ,seals etc. Put em in the same box so, then a guy like you don't lose more hours chasing parts and the customer gets his shit fixed.
They can see then, what talent fixes their stuff. So much knowledge and experience.
No wonder you're busy, folks know who to call when the job needs doing RIGHT.
    Cheers,
    Take care

I’ll bet that guy won’t see you all winter to fix up that truck but will wait until he’s ready to use it again to say it an emergency. But great job working on it! Thanks much for the video. 1 hour and 1500 views, nice!

When I was a kid, it was known that if you were caught messing about, you were either reported to your father, or you received a clip around the ear immediately, and when your father found out, you got the second clip around the ear! Yes, we live in times when kids tell us what to do,( but not me !) I agree the parts story is a load of rubbish, most parts salesmen just look up their computer and if its not available, they give up instead of doing their job and getting what you need to you ASAP !

Back in the 1960's when I was working for my father on the farm as a kid he taught me to respect other peoples property.
Yeah he grewup during the Great Depression so he knew the value of respect and what his word meant and thankfully he passed that onto me but I fear we maybe the next to the last generation to even know the meaning of it nevermind practice it!

Warren, correct me if I'm wrong but, can't these drivers turn your bill over to the lumber company to either make them pay for the repair(s) or fix the road? Here in KS, I know that's a feasible way to get something that's causing issues to personal property to get fixed. I do understand how things do work but still, it will cost the lumber company more in the long run.
I was raised similar to like your grand dad. Today, we need more people like your grand dad. Both my grand parents were just like yours Warren. It's how I was raised, it's just a shame how in today's world things have changed drastically. What a shame.
When I still farmed, that's exactly what I did, ordered 2 of everything, got a bit expensive but, so is lost time which can't ever be made back. As always, great video, cheers :)

How did we get by before computers?
First logging truck i drove was 1973 Western Star with NTC 350, RTO 9513, SSHD's and rubber block suspension... Made good money with her. Traded her in on 1985 Pete with 3406B. Did really well.
    Logging is tough on rigg'en.
BUT ole trucks were built to be repaired and componet quality was good.
Today Cummins, DD, Volvo, KW & Frieghtliner have no shame. Its all about the shareholders and executive pay!
Bought a new truck with a Cat SDP.
Imagine my surprise going from 3406E.
I was abandoned by everybody. Dame near went broke. Ended up giving truck away.

Your grandad sounds exactly like the men that was around back when I was a nipper here in Ireland,,,They were hardy tough as old boots men,,That didn't suffer fools,,,I'm 48 ,,I believe the same age as you warren,,,My grandad was born on a farm in ballysaggart waterford in 1919,,He passed in 2019,,During the war he lived in Manchester and London ,,Where he met my gran ,Who was from Dublin ,,,His job during the war was pulling downed nazi pilots from there still burning aircraft,,Somtimes the magazines would catch fire and bullets would be going off everywhere ,,He told me he pulled one guy out of his cockpit and he only realised as he was dragging him across a field that he was cut in two from the waste down,,Somtimes they were alive ,,And on two separate occasions ,,For saving there life two Nazis gave him there medals,,Which I now own,,,Also space was a premium so on occasion he would sleep in the morgue where dead solders were,,,Men today are mere shells of what there forefathers were,,,My grandfather never bragged about any of these things,,,In fact he only told me a few years before he died,,And only after I pressed him for story's during the war,,,,He said of the Nazis he incounterd and talked to,,,,,,,They were only boys just like us on the other side,,,They laughed and cried just like us,,They had mothers and fathers brothers and sisters that loved them,,Just as we did,,And just like us,,They to wished for the war to be over,,,I know for sure the horrors he seen affected him for the rest of his days,,,

It's amazing how clean your log wagon is. From my experience log trucks show signs of being in the woods. Locally if the skidder isn't struggling it's a good spot to drop the logs and load the trucks.
