- In todays video I try out the RK by King Kutter 6' Tiller and it works great! I finished up a fall food plot and will plant ryegrass and turnips.
I used the RK 37 Compact Tractor with the Tiller

As the excited new owner of 65 acres in eastern TN, and a former city boy, I thoroughly enjoy your videos. I've learned a lot and appreciate the information. I also have to say that I've added a lot of good music to my library, courtesy of your videos. Thank you for the channel and the videos, (and the music) please keep them coming.
Yes indeed! Your soil looks delicious. So great to have access to such a variety of tractors and implements. You're putting them to good use 😊 Thanks once more for the video.
of the many reasons of what attracts me to your postings like the tractor workings ETC its also the pleasant music you play. thanks Mike....
Good video Mike, nothing beats having good equipment to work the ground and doing it properly. Thanks for the information and sharing with us.
Your videos are such a delight to watch.
Great music, classy, informative and they always help put me in a good mood. Rural King made a wise move getting you to be part of their team. I couldn’t imagine a better representative of their equipment line.
Beautiful looking dirt and plot Mike! Looking forward to seeing some green on it!
I’m inspired everyday by you videos. I’m learning a lot at the same time . Thank you for taking the effort to make them!
Great job, I often see curious deer watching me when I’m running equipment on the farm plus they seem to love the smell of freshly turned soil.
Nice plot Mike. That King Kutter is a great tiller.....I have had one several years but mine is yellow. A buddy just bought one also. Be aware they begin to leak fluid by the bottom bolts on the gear box cover and water gets in there. Mine did after one season and my friend's did after 1/2 of a season. I took my cover off, cleaned it and used some red gasket maker to seal it all up and make it better than new. Been a year since I did that and still looks good. That tiller will serve you well. Nice video.
The title says it all "Awesome". You have terrific soil in that area. Keep the great videos coming, my son and I totally enjoy them.
My father bought a King Cutter tiller about 10 years ago. I don't think the plow has been on the tractor since. It does a great job getting the garden ready to plant. A very nice piece of equipment!
Mike, as a city boy moved to the country, you have taught me so much! Thank you for putting out such great and diverse videos. Still going to get either a RK55 or 37 but this ruptured Achilles’ tendon has me waiting till I can walk again (6 more weeks they say). Been waiting for your thoughts between SS or hydro and after reading comments, still not sure which way I’m going. Maybe flip a coin, lol. Thanks!
I'm in Delaware County, NY and I have to tell ya all we have is rocks! So what my friend and I use is an S-tine cultivator with Danish Sweeps to work the soil. It is even too rocky to disc as the discs just bounce over the rocks. You are really fortunate to have rock free soil! That makes things much easier. What are you going to plant? This year we've got turnips (Tall Tine Tubers) and winter rye from a local feed and seed place going.
Great job Mike. Sure makes a difference when using the right tools for the job. Should have a great food plot when you get it planted.
That deer said hey I heard you putting in more food. Thought I would come check it out. Mike said yeah tell your friend especially the bucks.
Great video as always Mike. It's always neat running into wildlife while doing some tractor work. 2 weeks ago I was doing some bush hogging/making trails when I came up on a couple of nice turkeys. They kind of watched me for a bit, then slowly walked off into the thicker wooded area where I was working. They didn't seem "scared" or concerned with me being there which surprised me since as I said before, I was running the bush hog (loud, high RPM). I've also had deer do the same thing as I'm cutting grass on the back part of my property. It's almost like they are used to me being there.
I agree with Lucas. Id like to see more on the rk37 thinking of buying one.
Boy that tiller really done the job!!👍👊
Lol 😋 you re funny Mike! Want to tear everything up. I can relate.love it.it is beautiful soul.we have good soil in places here in the n.e. but there's plenty of rocks.good video
Happy Labor Day !
That RK37 is a really good size. The RK tiller is made by King Kutter I believe, and they make great attachments!
Great tilling job, nice attachment
My Kubota dealer said to me"mike, once you buy a 3 point tiller, you will abandon all the other 3pt. tillage attachments.Well,he was right. You can't beat a tiller.Keep the bearings greased, and the oil level up.There the bomb, period.
Nice work on the food plot! Interesting to see what shows up on your game camera once corp comes in.
I love your videos! I wish I could afford one of those tractors and tillers. Maybe one day. Your videos make me want a tractor bad.
Michael Chastain, not sure what your situation is but I’ll just share that you can do a lot with a lot less tractor. I now have a Mahindra 1533 that I love but before that I had (still have) a Kubota B7200. Its a little 17HP tractor that’s a real work horse. I bought mine used from a rental place for $6k with a loader and a box blade. I later added a backhoe, also used from a rental yard. You can do a lot with a little setup like that for not a lot of money.
I'm very jealous of your tiller... beautiful
Me and my buddy are working on a dove field tomorrow if its not too wet. He disced it up and i am going to take the RK55 and the landscape rake and see how well i can rake the ROCKS out of the field. We are planting about 4 acres of sunflowers and millet. This combo makes for a good dove hunt.
that tiller is nice , i have a disc and a harrow drag works good too
Nice set up !👍
Mike,
I think you would be happier with a cereal winter rye in your mix rather that a rye grass seed.
I have had the same tiller for 8 yrs and have put rocks larger that soft balls through it with no damage. One caution, be careful of wrapping fence wire around the gear side and damaging the gasket, which will leak if damaged.
Another great video. Wish you could come to my house and do my back yard. Lol keep up the great work.
Very good job
Up at our land in Maine it's all rocks. We use a plow to turn things over rather than a tiller.
Great ideas. Thanks 🙏
You should call the RK 37 the middle child LOL!
Nice set up right hp. for the job
Mad I wish we had that good of soil here in Florida 😂
I'm running a Howse 6' and love it too. Makes a real nice bed.
@@davidm.5727 35hp. Yours should be fine in most soils.
@@davidm.5727 on the virgin just set the depth plates on the tiller to do a light cut. Next pass a little deeper and so forth. If tractor starts to bog down slow your forward speed.
I think the RK37 it the best all around small farm tractor
Rocks. Here in New England we grow a new crop every year.
I'm in Northeastern MA (Essex) I've been tilling the same garden for years. Every year there are a couple of new "big rocks" that appear. I swear my kids put them there for the entertainment value!
see you driving big red then littly red good job god bless all hi hunter
Nice looking plot Mike. Keep the videos coming.
Great video
It sure does a good job
Mi
Hi Lucas from Colorado.
Mike, that was awesome. "Check with your Mom and Dad and maybe we can come over and tear your yard up or something."
You have the best soil in the world ! No rocks, blue clay, glacial till or shale . So jealous !
nice vid
Cool!👍
I'm not Lucas but you can come tear up part of my yard. That thing is nice!!!
Nice channel guys been watching a few videos. Good content and relaxing to watch. Do y’all have a garage to store all your equipment and service it? Just curious.
Still waiting to see how the RK24 handles the belly mounted mower!
You talked in a video awhile back about building a new shed for all the equipment. Is that coming up?
Yes that deer meat is about $150.00 a lb now
YO LUCAS!!!
Hi great video. Can you till straight over hard compact ground or do you need to rip it up using the sub soiler tines.
reverse or forward tine tiller ? and what did you seed that field with ?
Since you've named the largest tractor Big Red, you could call the RK37, Mr. Red and the smallest tractor, Lil Red. Just a thought. Of the nearly 50 channels I watch, your's has the most professional look to it. Good mix of live action and fast action.
Thank you!
My whole yard is shale 😆
That will be a nice food plot👍 which TYM is rk 37 most similar to?
That was some beautiful dirt! There is no way I could do that as I have rocks on top of rocks. Seriously if you know any landscapers that need a supply of rocks or boulders I can hook them up!
Van Casdorph hey they make a rig called a rock hound that will get those out for ya... could probably rent one or hire someone to remove those thorns from your side
We are waiting on an estimate for someone to move them from the house site. I would love to sell them though :-)
Thanks for the video.
Where do you get your seed from?
And what kind of seed?
Great video. What is the size of that food plot and how long in total would you say it took to till?
Have the same one build like a tank. On a L3901
Can you come till me up a spot? I'll buy you some beer lol
Do you get a lot of buck traffic in your food plots? I'm in NE Ohio, and our deer are surrounded by alfalfa and corn from April to October. Trying to decide if they'd be interested in a food plot around here.
You should ask rural king to send you there new utv
Did you use your scarifier teeth on the ground before tilling? It looks like it.
#shoutouttoLucaswithRK37
Does Rural King give you these items to test?
Very nice video. Do you like the hydrostatic or shuttle shift transmission more?
Tough question, I like both lol, for loader work i like hydro but for things like this SS is the way to go
Nice, What Grapple do ya have ?
Mike,
Looks good! That spot should be a perfect for late archery season. Just curious our bucks(especially the younger ones) are just starting to lose their velvet in the last two weeks, wondering if any of the photos of the bucks you've got are doing the same thing. Is the tiller chain or gear drive?
Gear Drive
Thanks! Have a great weekend!
Yall have room to till a wildflower field?
How is it holding up Thinking of buying a 7 foot
Mike, at what RPM is the tractor at as you are running that tiller?
Thanks
Tommy
@@davidm.5727 thanks for responding. I think I was wondering what the engine RPM was for the PTO to run at 540. I assume that is what the tick mark on my engine RPM meter at 2400 on my tractor is for. What are your thoughts. Thanks Tommy.
@@davidm.5727 thanks. All I can tell you is to try it and see what happens as you are paying close attention to it.
My kubota B7800 is about 30 hp and I use a 4 ft tiller and it handles it just fine.
Will you be planting winter rye?
Just rye grass
3 pt tiller sure puts a DR Roto Hog to SHAME FOR SURE!
I’m not quite following the PTO modifications you made. Seems like the factory specs are lacking. Should there be a different rototiller for each tractor model?
Tim Griffith, the geometry of the 3-point hitch varies from tractor to tractor. To make attachments non-tractor specific they tend to leave the driveshafts a little long and then the user needs to make it the right length for their specific tractor. It’s pretty common but it can get frustrating. It’s entirely possible that Mike will need different length driveshafts if he wants to use the tiller on the RK37 and Big Red.
Love your videos & love the music! Could you please identify this song/artist?
Shazam gave me 4 different redponses
What do you think your speed was while tilling?
Went pretty slow, 2nd gear low range
You are lucky if you don’t have much rocks. I feel that’s all we got here a few miles from you.
How much did you spend on it?
You sure don't have New England soil. That tiller would be hopping all over if I used it on one of my fields.
Hi Mike,
Is that a forward or reverse rotation tiller?
Yes
Thanks for the reply Mike. I wish mine was forward rotation.....
I guess the hydro version would not run that 6 foot tiller?
@@davidm.5727 No i don't have that tractor. Been looking at different ones that don't cost an arm and a leg like Kubota and JD.
You're going to be 'Tiller the Hun'!!!
So what tiller is it? Maybe I missed it. I skipped as I don't really need to see you driving back and fourth.
👏👨🌾
Why not do the tilling, debris burying, and cultipacking in one pass and with one machine? :)
Is your American Flag illuminated at night or do you take it down at Dusk?
yea we have a light on it
What about Melissa,s toys
I was with you until you said Rye Grass. So many more better options out there for deer to eat.
Lots of music but almost zero information on the tiller and it's performance.
