As a typical Persian family we cover all over our houses surface with carpets and then we cover them with rugs and sometimes we even cover the rugs with other kind of carpet. We even cover our blankets by a piece of sheet so they don’t get dirty. Also we have an annual tradition of cleaning and washing all over the house, specially the carpets. It takes place two our three weeks before our holiday, “Nowrooz”. Great lessons though. I’ve learned a lot about your culture and found out we have many things in common. 👌
Hello everyone, Hello Andrea . I used to go to London four times a year, like once a season before this epidemic . I am French. In the UK, it is said that you do everything in a different way. You drive on the left side of the road, you have a different counting system, you use different plugs, etc.... It is not easy for foreigners to adapt to your customs. But what took my breath away was your politeness. It's a peace of mind. I was stunned when I watched people standing quietly in the queue, I was stunned in the metro when I watched people getting on the train after everyone got off, I was stunned in the metro by the silence. It's a lot of calm and serenity. Nevertheless, what I find distressing is the high prices of the universities. In France, education is free. And this is a real advantage.
Aww yeah, I have been visiting your channel every time I came to You Tube. And now I ecstatic to see this thumbnail. I am chuffed to bits for this lesson to premiere and as keen as mustard to learn about the wired things in the UK. I absolutely adore this channel.
I really love your real life channel ,it's very useful for me and not to mention your TV series channel , you've made it to the top !thanks for all the advice that you gave us ,I've finally conquered my fear of speaking with others in English, thanks so much .keep on
Hello Andrea! I'm Maria from Greece🇬🇷 I feel happy hearing that your parents are Greek-Cyprus! You're using the right colocation of the 2 names! We both probably know better about how Cyprus suffers the last 45 years.
I absolutely loved today's lesson and I learnt a lot about the British culture as well. Thank you so much. Andrea can you recommend me some british female celebrities with the British accent.
Hi there! Some female actresses that are very well known in the UK are Judi Dench, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren, Helena Bonham Carter, Olivia Coleman and Ashley Jensen. There are hundreds of great ones of course but those are some to get you started 😊
Thank you, Andrea, for another great lesson! I’ve learnt a lot about British culture and, among other things, I’m very impressed by the English politeness. But, referring to what you said about the custom of giving up a seat, being so common in the UK, I’d like to share with you my personal experience. When I was in London in 1978 (!) as a young boy, some day I gave up my seat on the Tube to an elderly lady. She couldn’t believe it and many other people around seemed to be quite astonished by what I was doing. Then, I asked a friend of mine, who had lived in the UK for a few years, and he explained me that the custom of giving up a seat to somebody else was very little known in Britain, so it might be considered a little bit strange. But, as I said, it was 42 years ago.
Beside your amazing information, you guys are also incredible in making your video's quality very phenomenal and clear and I really loved the editing as well .
Hi Andrea, good job, as always! When the daylight saving time is over, what do you call the "normal, natural time"? In italy we call it ora solare (solar time).
Thank you Andrea. It’s a very interesting video. 👏👏👏please share more than this, I’ve learned some aspects very useful to live the English.... oooh yeah!!
Hi Andrea, I'm fun of your videos and I loved it so much. My vocabulary knowledge is developed because of your videos. Your culture and Turkish culture include something same and different. For instance; 1, 14, 18 and 22 are same, but 25 and 27 are completely different. We are also crazy about drinking tea. Sometimes we drink more than 6 cups of tea per day. Thanks for everything that you taught me.
Okay, it's official: I'm British.😄 I'm from and live in Germany (sweet greetings by the wayx), but apart from three points, I completely agree with what you said. Self-tanning isn't as common here and I would never go out without a jacket in winter, but otherwise it's pretty similar to the UK. Okay, but you'd probably find less Yorkshire pudding, toad in the hole (I don't think it looks like a toad at all, more like caterpillars:)) here and I don't drink alcohol either, but I do love tea. I actually drink more tea than coffee. If I do drink coffee, it's lupine coffee or malt coffee, but not so often. I still prefer hot or cold tea.🫖🍵 Here in Germany, the weather is always like a surprise package. On the same day, it can be 35 °C (yes, 35 °C is already hot for me) and then suddenly there's a storm with heavy rain. But I love that so much. I love it when the weather is varied and it's not 35°C every day:D In my current apartment I also have carpet in the bedroom, but only because the floor isn't nice and secondly it can get really cold here in winter, especially the floor. The carpet insulates quite well. About dialects and accents, according to statistics there are around 20 different dialects in Germany. I live near Berlin, so north-east of Germany, and when a Bavarian or Thuringian starts speaking in their dialect, I don't understand anything:D I also use emojis very often, just to make it clear that I meant something as a joke. My sense of humor is sometimes a bit weird. We Germans are also said to be very rude and to counteract that I like to use emojis. It's also a funny way to illustrate what I'm writing.🙃😊
That's incredible lesson ,please could you make a lesson about learning english for those whose lives are so busy ! Having school or college is very difficult to practice english daily 💔I wish you would make this lesson .
Right now I am in USA. But during my childhood,I read more Britain books than American books. Most of them are in written Britain English or American English. Right now I am ready to try to do my best to get the goal which I speak English like a beautiful article randomly.
I think the carpets are old fashioned in Spain. They were very trendy some decades ago, in the last century, but nowadays I don't see them anymore. They have been replaced by the rugs.
Andrea is getting the same musicality in his speech as Ethan. Very different from the smoothness of her first videos. Anyway, without a doubt I have learned and continue to learn with Andrea. She and Ethan are the best. Greetings, great and spectacular job
Thanks to this episode I know that Great Britain would be a great place to live for me - of course without the love of artificial tan and the high cost of learning. As for good manners, I think that wherever you can use them, you should do it. In most situations, being well-mannered really makes life more enjoyable and easier.
My family is the most easy to spot example for Vietnamese typical family, the country that only use mat (or carpet) to flick off the dust before go in to the house or just for decorating, but mostly we just use it as a vaccum cleaner for our feet ('cause u knows Asian always wear flip flops, and that'd be uncomfortable if you wear flip flops but your feet still contains dust)
I am over the nine cloud Thank u so much This is a great lesson And I am from India And when u said delhi traffic And I agree with u too much noise pollution. I want video on education system Can you please make it a new video on education system
Once I was in London I was wondering why my mobile didn't recharge. I had to recognise that the power socket was off. Not a bad idea but if you don't know it than it's annoying.
In Turkey we also have and like carpets. Also dinner is important part of our culture. On the other hand you can just step by to a friend of yours withouth saying anything.
Yes, if you're watching them as they're being broadcast. But you do NOT NEED A TV LICENCE to watch streaming services like Amazon Prime or Netflix or You Tube, even if you watch them on your TV. So you DO NOT NEED a TV licence if you have a TV, only if you watch TV programmes while they're being broadcast. I'm afraid Andrea got that one very, very wrong!
Sometimes I think I'm to polite for Germany I always say sorry and that stuff and they don't answer even if it was there fault. I would like that polite fact in Germany. Btw very interesting Video

Your culture is like ours. So I'm Turkish. And also we drink too much tea but without milk. Especially north of Turkey, they drink too much tea. And they produce it. They have tea fields. And also most people have carpets in their home. We are famous our ancient carpets btw. And the queue situation is the same yours. If somebody try to pass front of you, the people warn to he/she. Also we buy something too when we visit as guest somewhere. And the most of things.... Anyways our culture so similar yours.

Really, Interesting facts about British culture.
In Australia it's common to see carpet throughout a house. We swelter in temperatures of 30-40°, but we use sensible units like °C
Interesting!
Hi Andrea,good job, as always!
When the daylight saving time is over, what do you call the "normal, natural time"? In italy we call it ora solare (solar time).
I am still adapting how to combat Carpet in my home... I have removed most of the carpets but the stairs still kept the carpet...
What an interesting overview of British culture! Here in the U.S., we never cut in line either :)
