Diners get 45 minutes in which to sink 2lb of battered fish, 2lb of chips, a bowl of peas and some home made tartare sauce. If successful, you get the $40 meal FREE, a spot on their online wall of fame and most importantly; a winner's t-shirt!

Evening all! I hope you’re having a stellar week and thanks from the bottom of my beard, as always, for joining me for yet another episode…
Today we’re in San Diego eating fish and chips…yes that’s right…I travelled 6,000 miles to eat British grub. I’m in Canada at the minute, making some more videos for your delectation, so if I don’t quite get back to as many comments as usual I apologise…

I work there and you have caught our amazing late Jackie on video. She recently passed and honestly it was great hearing her voice and humor again. Thank you from us all ❤️
What fish is that though? Just interested as from the UK and mostly we eat haddock (good) or cod ( bad)

He does it effortlessly. Possibly, even, without intending to. Clearly the best channel of this type on YT.
This may seem disrespectful to Beard's peers, but it is the only channel I really enjoy watching. Adam comes across as a nice guy and the locals wherever he visits seem to like him too. Anyone can make a video showing them stuffing their face, but you do need a personality and the ability to make a quality video to make it enjoyable for the audience. Watch and learn!

I love how you give credit to the actual quality of the food.. it can’t be easy for a cook to make sure everything is made properly with plates of that scale. You’re the man!
yeah it's hard to be fair...i will say in America the food is very rarely ever bad...very rare they get it wrong over here

@@MultiSneakerLover He's good at picking the locations for the challenges, I'm sure that helps, that and not being too picky. Most of the food I've seen him try looks really good.

And the kitchen staff are aware that he's filming and likely posting it online so they're always gonna do their best to make sure it looks its best, even if the normal standard of food quality at that restaurant is just average or even subpar. This place looks busy enough to where they probably always have good food all around.
@@LoveYouLove1986 what you said, the kitchen guys knowing he's filming and wanting to impress him, as well as I think that restaurants that offer food challenges are probably gonna be offering a challenge for some of their customer favorite items. So they're probably pretty darn good at making the stuff by now. ☺️ Also, bad restaurants probably can't afford to do food challenges....if someone wins, they might go bankrupt lol

Whilst the food consumption is “impressive” it’s the respectful, delightful charm and humour of these videos I enjoy most. A credit to the best of English folk and a true ambassador.
The batter on that large piece of fish was impressive I'm surprised at how crisp it was while the fish inside appeared to be perfectly cooked.

Extra corn starch in the tempura batter will give you that crispiness.

I used to be a drummer in a Scottish bagpipe band in San Diego (my hometown) a long while ago and this was our 'home' pub. What a pleasant and frankly weird surprise to see it in one of your vids. Brings back so many great memories. Awesome job as usual, Adam!

@@JeatBunkie yeah, during my time there were actually two bands. we'd compete at highland games and do parades and whatnot. not sure how many there are now.
I worked at a Scottish festival outside San Diego back in 2005 selling kilts. I think the area was called Vista?

@@JeatBunkie ex-pats, their family, and people with general interest in it. my dad always wanted to play bagpipes and asked if I wanted to learn to drumg when I was in like 5th or 6th grade, IIRC. Most bands give lessons in some capacity. it makes sense since bands need members so if you're interested you should look to if there's a band in your area. It's pretty fun and you get to know other bands in your region at competitions.
I like how you don't just go and be like "OMG OK ITS A FOOD CHALLENGE ALRIGHT GUYS LETS GO" you are a gentleman and people get involved because of your charisma and approachability. Keep up the good work man, we love you beard.

Good to see Great Britain being represented properly in the States, great staff, even your fans had enough sense to back up a few feet so they didn't mess too much with your video & sound. And you didn't even have to pay parking! Man you were having a good day, I hope you went to the nearest casino for a little bit after that one.
My dad served in Europe during WWII, and he LOVED the fish and chips he got when he was in London on leave. He would get an order and go for a walk around London - he described the fish as crispy, delicious, and served in a cone of newspaper.
The only food they didnt ration during the war...for morale reasons.

I went to London for a HS trip, was 10pm and I heard / smelled things out the window, went down to a guy selling fish and chips out of a cart, got it in a newspaper cone. Was fantastic.

This was an incredible challenge Adam, looked absolutely delicious. Feels like a English style Fish & Chips challenge isn't right without Mushy (hope that is how it is said/spelt, it's what I hear when it said) Peas. Congrats on crushing another challenge, the motivation of a T-shirt is just exceptional I must say. Cheers man, watching your videos is always a entertainment highlight of my week. Just want to say a little appreciation post for beard. The fact I've been watching him for years his videos did good numbers high 6figs margin, but now when I look on his channel it's millions upon millions of views per video which is the credit he deserves. I'm proud ❤

I live in San Diego and have eaten at that pub a few times and the fish and chips are always "delicious"! So sick you came to our city! Can't wait to see where you go next! Love the content!
I visited there once and had a crazy delicious meal. Can't support the statement that San Diego has great food everywhere, but my flying visit fed me so well that I still remember the food as excellent even years later.

This was my first and only food challenge and I finished in 33 min. I was dying, I didn't think to leave the tartar sauce as lubricant for the chips, haha, amazing job!!!

@@Cantetinza17 I ate the chips last, and when I swallowed them, they would slide down my throat so slowly that I wouldn't be able to breathe for a moment. I was sweating hard after finishing..... as delicious as that was, 4+ lbs of food in one sitting is too much for me. I'll stick to watching Beard!!

This is the first time I've ever hear Adam complement chips/fries. Properly cooked and seasoned fries can be quite tasty.

This is the third time I've watched this challenge .. I just LOVE Fish and Chips!! .. It was one of the only restaurants we'd go to when I was a boy (maybe once a year ... or every other year.) ..
I get it delivered here now that I'm retired maybe 5 or 6 times a year :) .. Usually after a bit too much vodka, when I can't resist the temptation :)
I've never seen a fish fried so THICK as that brick!!! .. not even when I was in Newfoundland.

I’m pretty sure out of all the challenges you’ve done. I’m 75% sure I could do that one but definitely not in the time frame would definitely be longer than an hour lol 😂 the fish got my stomach going that looks so good.

Went to Shakespeare Pub the other day, saw a guy doing the challenge, which led me to google it when I got home, which led me to your video, which lead me to your channel. Been watching the videos for two days straight now. You got a new fan!

That one seemed like a fair challenge all around, there looked to be a lot of everything, it sounded like it tasted delicious, and a reasonable time limit to do it in. You can call this one BeardFishesFood.
