- The new Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "The Dragon's Gambit" has arrived. Let's take a look at all the gameplay aspects, story, new Mechs and weapon systems together. In this playthrough we will start a new career as a Mechwarrior thrown int o a conflict against our will.

The gameplay of Mechwarrior 5 is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

Calling in your ASF is what caused you to be at 80% speed. When you are holding W, then press 8 to spawn your ASF your throttle goes to 80% (the other ASFs use 7 and 9, so 70% or 90%). You have to release W and press it again.
Baradul- There is a mod on Nexusmods called Commander Quirks that lets the Commander gain skill points from the Pilot overhaul mod like the other pilots.
Gridiron is one of my favourite medium hero mechs, Much fun can be had headshotting enemy mechs of all sizes
The advanced zoom mod has a simple zoom version that just adds additional 4x and 8x zoom levels in the manner of the vanilla zoom. Better frame rates and no issues with night vision etc. Ive been using it and cant go back now.
You can own as many ASF as you can pick up, the restriction is you can only USE one per mission. Even if you recall it, you can't launch another.

If you are using the latest TTRulez and you put the Gridiron in sniper mode, you can probably give it to a good ballistic pilot, with few issues.
Find a HGauss for that G-Iron!
I used to watch Baradul everyday. Now that he mostly does MWO, I only get to watch him either once or twice a week if he also does a Roguetech video, which is what I prefer.

4x PPC on one mech would be pretty good tho, like a mobile ravager turret if you can keep it cool.
Good video Bara. I think a way to play the Grid Iron in MW5 is to put some ERLLs on it, remove the SRMs then snipe from a hill. 🙂
The fortress mission would cost you a lot of Liao reputation. Much more than regular missions.
I'm out of the loop, Capt. Butler's pilot image is Reina Roja from Netrunner! Wasn't expecting that overlap!
If you have access to Clan weapons, you may want to look for a Mini Gauss (C) somewhere, since you have YAWE now. It does almost as much damage as an IS Gauss, but only weighs 6 tons instead of 15.
And then, of course, you have the Light Gauss Machine Gun (C). A 2-ton weapon that fires at machine gun speeds. It doesn't have the range of even an AP Gauss rifle, but within it's range it's awesome.
Of course, you could also have either an ATM-6(C) or an SLRM-10(C) for the missile hunch. I say that because the SLRM is a direct-fire weapon that can track, but doesn't go up & over obstacles.
ASF 3 kinds, from 30 60 80? mission difficulty. so you just need to check mission difficulty level.
then for random ASF upgrade parts, just get those from resource missions
In order to get an AI pilot to use Melee weapons, the Mech has to be set to "Juggernaut."
This is the mech i like to run as long as possible. I just stick an AC 20 in it instead of the gauss.
One of the best hero mechs, but not sure if it's that powerful without mods :)
on a note of MWO, i'm really looking forward to thunderbolt missiles. and the grid iron is a decent missile platform. i run mine with mrm 40 and med lasers. thats going to change to a tbolt come the march patch

i like using the battlegrid commands for the artillery. just send them towards the arty
You can take only one type of fighters on mission, but you must find this type of fighters first. And you can find fighters upgrade on this missions too.

You know you can set your Aerofighter to take out the Arty right? Or you can hunt the Arty before destroying the radars and then they don't fire at all.

seeing you put the gauss ammo into the leg i wonder if the rules are changed from the tabletop, there gauss rifles can explode on hit dealing damage, ammo cannot however.
to clarify, gauss ammo is just metal bolts, no explosives

The AMS ammo can't explode either in MW5 for some reason. It should!
lol bara took more damage from altillery in last mission than from enemy mechs just sitting in altillery rings lol interesting way to fight but could have saved tons of rep and money by avoiding them more lol
yeah you can avoid altillery by using jump jets as long as you don´t get hit by shell directly in the air
The armour and structure upgrades cannot be broken, if they still looking broken after the repair all order, it is because some other item was not fixed or replaced.

that grid iron cool down is horrible, ac 20 might work if it isnt effected by the long cool down or even the heavy rifle. after that you could go to the outer fringes and do a few less tier missions just for the fun of it to make some cbills. at least you can pilot the smaller mechs while you still can.

Since the last update, the Gauss has been nerfed badly. It isn't worth a damn now at least in my game. I don't use the Yaml mods. They are too much micromanage for my taste. I do like how they fire in MW5 as the MWO is done incorrectly.

really annoys me that in MW5: Mercenaries Hunchbacks dont have extra hump armor, at least in the modless version
