- We took Rachel to Clayhill and it was one Rough Night. It was the roughest track I have ever seen and before it was over it did our Camaro in.

Dang that sucks. But that old engine sure has been a trooper for y’all!
It was sure on its last leg but I hate that we popped it before making it to the end of the season.
Your ability to not show displeasure at the motor situation is legendary. Me on the other hand I would have to do a lot of editing.
Lol same with me! But we wasn’t standing next to him when it let go either 😂😂
It is what it is, but it was not Rachels fault. This engine has been a champ and rock solid but on the last build I knew it was way past spec and couldn't be built again. I told Rachel to not worry about that engine and focus on driving.
love your racing
Thanks! 👍 I try!
Great video, she is turning out to be a driver!
Rachel has gotten comfortable in the car but I sure hate this happening right when she does.
Yeah that really sucks for Rachel trying to get used to the car and do some racing and have a motor let go but maybe you can find another motor for it'd be good to see her out there some more but y'all have a good one
I'll build her another one for sure and get her back on the track
Composure is strength. I hate to see this happen but y’all took it like champs.
I can't really complain bud, ole motor has served us well over the years
Well dadgum! No one likes a broke engine, but, it does happen. Hope to see Rachel back on the track soon. She was starting to get it together
It will be a while but I will get her back in the seat
Hate that for guys, Had our far share of a rough & heavy track this week. Got tore up bad. Thank you for the share good or bad.
Yes sir, hate you got the short end as well
Well Dang, It happens tho… that track looked like a motor eater 😬.. wasn’t that motor in ur other car also?
Yeah, I have put that ole boy through hell over the years. It was a good one but the last time I ringed it I was using file fit and not filing them if that tells ya anything. Its was already at about 4.067" so the block was on it's last build anyway.
Dang it , we’ll it cost you a motor ,least I can do is sub eh !🥃🙏
I just parked the Camaro for now and am focusing on getting my Metric car and me driving figured out. but I will build her an engine.
Appreciate the sub!!!
Sorry about the motor, but im sure its not to high of a step for you high steppers.
I knew I would end up building one this next winter but doing it mid season is a little bit too tall a step for me. She's going to have to sit for a while!
What size is this track? Im guessing its 3/8, but I've been wrong before.
probably more like a 1/3rd mile
My son got a 2000 jeep cherokee for the interior for his jeep. Guy said he bought it and half way home it started running bad. That's a quote. Half way home was about 70 miles
We went to get it and fired it up to drive onto the trailer...man that sounds awful. It has a piston running in and out of the side of the block! We've been adding oil and beating on it in the yard for about a year now. Trust me. Throw some rungs in er' and send it!😂
In all seriousness though that sucks
I've seen a few of them "yard trucks" that were missing pistons just keep living to use in a junk yard myself. Crazy how some of them can just keep going LOL.
@@DIRTRACELIFE top off the oil a d go!lol
Sucks your motor went out but it's nice to see some racing that's not like some kinda demo derby like we got here in South texas
For the most part it's fairly clean racing, I see a few one on one grudge issues on the track but usually not the all out everybody is an idiot stuff.
@DIRTRACELIFE makes it hard to get into it talk to a lot of people that would like to get on the track but down here guys are wreaking brand new cars in the heat before the poor guy gets any data on the car. Guy had a challenger brand new got taken out 3rd lap of the heat a few weeks ago and me and another spectator was talking about it all night just seems like the cost of everything at the moment be very upset to put out the time and money to have that happen I'm already 30 maybe one day I'll get out there hopefully
What gear would you pull in factory stock at Camden thinking about coming out
I have a Rachel on a 633 but that is a bit high for the track and if you are really hooked up would spin 7k. Last night I turned 7200 with a 620 in my SS. In a factory stock I would be on a 600 to 620 and if running a 602 crate I would be on a 583.
@DIRTRACELIFE thanks Jason, I'm running 358 vacuum motor I think I will try my 600, noticed track seems to be dry at times
Oh yeah, black slick is the norm
You can build another engine. Thats a good car Jason.
Oh yeah, we will!
I hate to say it but I think we got us another boat anchor I don't think there's much save in it when the rod goes through the block
For sure Mr James, It was already way over 60 thou when I had ringed it last year. So I can't really complain
It happens if you keep racing trust me it’s gonna happen a lot more that you can look forward to
Definitely!
Hate that for y'all ,,, guessing 350 ci give or take on displacement ,,, not sure on engine rules per class of entry meaning 302ci she'd have a blast with,,, short track weed eater,,, 327 w/ 283 crankshaft,,, can't out spin these yard birds,,, looking good Rachel & Jason & thanks for sharing,,,
An old timer once told me they ran 2 classes when he raced .. v8 and 6 cyl, the V8 were 283 and they’d spin the hell out of them.. prolly was back n the 60s
Yes, it's a 362. . . . well more like a 365 because it was about 4.067" the last time I put rings and bearing in it. She was on her last build for sure at this point.
you might want to go to a professional this time. You need to get every ounce of power you can out of it. Like your other car, you driving is good you are just getting out motored. I would say from what I have watched here, maybe 15-20 down based on watching you put it together and parts used plus the things that did not get done that should. As you know in the restricted classes you have to find every 1 horsepower and every 1 CFM of flow you can, that's where the pro comes in, years of experience and experiments and testing. Good luck Jason doing awesome!!

Good advice from an expert right here
Lemme know if you need a new engine built Jason. It’s what I do.
Appreciate it Michael, I am going to get it out and see where I am with it. The first big part is checking the heads. They are 062s so even if I didn't directly punch one in the face with a piston I may still have cracked them. If not though, I will likely try to find a block, get it machined, and build a 5.7 rod 358 for the heads to go on.
Hopefully you have salvageable parts that check out.
I hope so
She just needs to settle down quit over driving and drive the car harder off and on the gas is upsetting it
In the rough staying in the gas would have helped keep the nose up and smoothed the car out but that's an experience thing and is counter intuitive unless you have A LOT of races dealing with these type conditions
