@@thoughtfulshorts662 Oh man, what bad luck. Good that you report it. This sort of scripting was fairly new to Chris at the time but he started using mostly parts of scripts that had been written and used by others mostly successfully for a few years before. Why don't they understand that THIS is how we users want a good old OS to behave like. No bloat, no unnecesary background processes, no trash apps, no unnecesary RAM consuption. Just a lean, light, ready to get you where you wanna go, simple OS. They keep on missing on these core concetps version after version after W7.
There are lots of simple to answer questions left unanswered in the comments here. Attempts to answer them in a reply often results in the reply being deleted. Not a big issue. Just saying there is not a lot of point currently in asking a question in a comment or trying to answer it in a reply. Maybe that is how it should be. I don’t know?
I think this is fantastic. It's a well balanced and practical one hit solution. Very easy to modify too, if certain things aren't to taste as might be the case for some - but I like the choices. I use a variety of media players and browsers. VLC is a good staple; one can always add or tweak their choice. I normally use FF and Chrome but appreciate the Brave option. Great work Chris!
I have an older system, (former Government server, Precision 690!) thought I had tweaked to the max, but thanks!! This keeps even more of my 24 GB of RAM free!! And leaves even more of my dual Quad Core processors for my important tasks, and not for Microsoft's idea of important! Subbed, looking forward to exploring more of your content! And, I've been practically pulling what little remains of my hair out, trying to get all 64 GB of my RAM recognized by Windows, to no avail...so 24 is pale in comparison to the potential. LOL
Questions : (i) - Does it removes preinstalled user software eg. Chrome, or any particular software that I downloaded from internet. (ii) - Is it just made to run at a clean boot only or I can run it anytime I want even on older PC that has many preinstalled software. Suggestions : (i) - Please make an option to ask whether you want to remove OneDrive or not because I think many Windows user doesn't use it anyway. (ii) - Also make a change in the script so that it automatically removes indexing from subfolders of C:\ as it makes the computer faster. Thanks for the effort you put into making this, and yes it is indeed necessary as Windows 10 is a big bloated OS which unfortunately many have to use.
I like and dislike this video. I like it cuz you are trying to help people out and dislike it because why I have to watch a 9 min 48 sec video for just one command.
I would like to see it to give you the choice between media players, defaulting it to VLC because that is what most people like means others that like MPC is getting something they don't want.
Thanks for a nice script :) it only lacks a removal of Edge and Bing. It's extremely frustrating that win10 override the default settings for browser and search engine in the start menu-search.
another good command is by simply pressing (hold) "Alt" key then pressing the "f4" key that should also help with cleaning up your pc (if it doesn't work just keep pressing f4)
Your video just happened to pop up on me and my computer was getting slow, not even looking to fix it, so I tried it and it's so much faster, I had 218 processes running before and after running the script it was 136, amazing.
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the actual script discussed in this video? (Any links I have tried are redirected to the latest script) For learning purposes I am revising the development of the scripts, so it would be useful to have the actual script discussed in particular videos.
1 of 4 Someone at GitHub showed me how to do this recently. I can’t give a simple link to the answers as that seems to make the UA-cam comment Police Bot delete the comment.
2 of 4- Go to Chris's Windows 10 page at that site where he and others develop their coding ( the bot keeps deleting my post when I give the name of the site - it starts with G and ends in B )
I've used your de-bloat script before and it was like magic, but perhaps a bit too aggressive, so it's really important to give the user the option of choosing which stuff to remove. I have 2 questions. 1 will this clash with mcafee? 2 will I have to repeat when windows does an update? Many thanks for your work.
VLC isn't only a media player, it also works perfectly as a video converter (works with a wide range of formats that I can't name off the top of my head).
Should Ask to remove or not Office Should Ask to Remove or not Action Center Should ask to install or not Java and every others program the keyword here is ASK whatever you propose. Just make the script to ask.
Dear Chris, thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. And thank you very much for sharing your work and your knowledge with others. Stay safe and sound! Best regards from Chile.
Thank you for this great video! I wish there was a function asking for the kind of updates I want. I only want security updates. No additional bloat or telemetry
I would like to see VLC and Irfan being optional too... I really like more MPC (actually, version with K-lite codec pack) and xNview, because it has more functionality... qbittorrent would be OK too... But, maybe you can do it like this: 1. question if you like to install default programs (whatever you choose) - If yes, no more questions. 2. If no - option to install nothing and option to go trough optional installs (for all of them). Edit: I see you already did it with prompts - but I let original comment above...
The script is great. The only thing I would like to see would be a description of all the functions so it would be a little more user friendly for the novice user.
Yes 100%. I ran this tool and it did all sorts of borked things to my system. I’d like to know the consequences of each change. For instance, removing Cortana seems to completely stop the actually helpful Search functions that remember software and tools that exist on the system, and what you’ve used recently. This tool seems to be for people who just want to be totally in control. Which I get, but most of us don’t want to have to administer a system to that level. If I wanted that, I’d use Linux and put up with its substandard systems for printing, monitors and so on.
I checked out your website and it's great that you've updated the script with a GUI so that we can choose which programs to install. No point in debloating by installing programs that you or your partners deem useful.
One major thing missing from this video. Exactly how much faster did your PC run after reducing the task count? In years gone by I used to tweak my PC's in this way, but I found the meager gains were simply not worth the hassle. Many of the "unnecessary" tasks sit at idle the majority of the time so there is little if any load on the CPU.
Make all your "recommended" apps a y/n question and I would use it. Right now your script is basically doing the same microsoft does: "This is the best for you, you will use it"
Well you could not install them, then complain when you can't open a file. This seems to install alternatives that leave less of a footprint and do the same thing as the Windows versions. The thing is, when you can't open that file you will need to install something anyway - if you are that tuned in you would have already taken most of these steps to tune your system. I don't like Adobe PDF, I like Foxit Reader. Very quick and works great for my needs. I already use Spybot Anti-Beacon and an alternate video player, disabled Cortana etc. All programs use some sort of update to monitor how their program is running and how it is used in order to tweak it's usability. At the end of the day, no one has a gun to your head forcing you to use it.
@@Cheepchipsable For me, I just open a pdf file with Firefox, I use K lite for a media player and only 1 program I rarely use i uses java so I have it as a portable app on external drive.
Nice. Many of these programs I was already using before seeing them here. I love notepad++. I discovered it when I was first looking for a better code entry program. I use something else now for that but still love the improvements of ++ over regular notepad. I personally DO prefer VLC because of the versatility it offers. Found it because I need something to play the h264 format of the raw video from my security cameras. WMP would NOT do it. The manufacture's player has a LOT to be desired but mostly with playback speeds, zoom levels, and clip recording. VLC does a billion times better the the mfg program.
He wasn't talking about WMP, he was saying windows media player classic like with the K-Lite Codec pack. It plays everything. VLC just installs stuff on the fly if it runs into anything it doesn't have, I prefer WMPc with K-Lite, download subtitles, resync, lots of different options. Runs smoother to me than VLC.
@Peter Sawan I'm not even sure if 8GB is enough anymore. Try to aim for 16, if it is possible for you, but I am guessing that your system is a bit outdated as well so might not worth to get that much memory.
This seems like a very fast and safe way to minimize Win10 to a reasonable and functional level. It's very impressive this has all been consolidated into one command. I used O&O's Shutup10 and Appbuster programs to adjust Win10, so I could see exactly what was being changed, but if you're not picky, this will do everything at once. It's quite amazing 👍

Would love a tutorial/walk thorough of the script so I can learn to write my own.
I spent last night switching every button to off wish I watched your video before, but i will try this code to just be satisfied 🌚
What a terrific command. Thanks so much. I couldn't believe how much dross was being ripped out of my laptop - it's still painfully slow but it is not a dead stick like it was before following your advice.
They only made W7 after considerable consumer discontent about Vista.
Thank Chris...you are a great help to the community! As someone who sets up windows PCs for family...this script is great!!!
LOL
holy... 24 gigs? hot damn
Some of that is going to depend on what version of WIndows you're running. Workstations / personal PCs by default do not use 64 GB.
Wow!! You are, "The Man" Chris. You saved me mucho time. Thanks.
The script is a great idea. A good tool to remove duplicates, Images specifically.

I like that shortcut better.
Yeah right click doesnt make sense to paste
You're insane man, how did you manage to create this! I was watching you before when I was on Linux and now you've created this.
Debloat software that installs more crap kinda defeat whole point of using debloat software.
I said the same thing lol, paid promotions is all it is masked as help
Not liking the third party antivirus software for one?
Nah the software it installs all are optional, plus brave, Acrobat reader and notepad ++ are actually essentials you need
@@XploudTheGamingGod not when software is meant to be debloat software
If you want to debloat windows, don't use windows.
Questions :
(i) - Does it removes preinstalled user software eg. Chrome, or any particular software that I downloaded from internet.
(ii) - Is it just made to run at a clean boot only or I can run it anytime I want even on older PC that has many preinstalled software.
Suggestions :
(i) - Please make an option to ask whether you want to remove OneDrive or not because I think many Windows user doesn't use it anyway.
(ii) - Also make a change in the script so that it automatically removes indexing from subfolders of C:\ as it makes the computer faster.
Thanks for the effort you put into making this, and yes it is indeed necessary as Windows 10 is a big bloated OS which unfortunately many
have to use.
Yeah I really want the answer to this. I want my pc to be faster and smoother.
always interresting your informative videos Chris most appreciated.
Thanks for this! I don’t use windows often but when I am forced to, this script will definitely make it less painful.
I like and dislike this video. I like it cuz you are trying to help people out and dislike it because why I have to watch a 9 min 48 sec video for just one command.

you don’t have to watch it. just go to the link in the description and run the script. you don’t have to commit one second to the video
Family la irukura prb yellatayum azhaga cleara sonna serial ithu all the best director and entire crew 👏 ❤
I would like to see it to give you the choice between media players, defaulting it to VLC because that is what most people like means others that like MPC is getting something they don't want.
You could always uninstall VLC and install MPC. :)
Thanks for a nice script :) it only lacks a removal of Edge and Bing. It's extremely frustrating that win10 override the default settings for browser and search engine in the start menu-search.
I would also like one drive removed.
another good command is by simply pressing (hold) "Alt" key then pressing the "f4" key that should also help with cleaning up your pc (if it doesn't work just keep pressing f4)
This makes me remember to the “with only one command block” minecraft tutorials
I always remembered those from LogDotZip.
“Hey guys, LogDotZip here, and welcome back to ONLY ONE COMMAND” xD

I used the debloat and it worked well. I would like to have option to remove xbox game from my system. I am not a gamer.
Your video just happened to pop up on me and my computer was getting slow, not even looking to fix it, so I tried it and it's so much faster, I had 218 processes running before and after running the script it was 136, amazing.
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the actual script discussed in this video? (Any links I have tried are redirected to the latest script)
For learning purposes I am revising the development of the scripts, so it would be useful to have the actual script discussed in particular videos.
1 of 4 Someone at GitHub showed me how to do this recently. I can’t give a simple link to the answers as that seems to make the UA-cam comment Police Bot delete the comment.
3 of 4 I will give my user name at GitHub, ( also used in a lot of other places ) , in the next post, if the Bot lets me
2 of 4- Go to Chris's Windows 10 page at that site where he and others develop their coding ( the bot keeps deleting my post when I give the name of the site - it starts with G and ends in B )

Thank you! From 133 to 88 processes. This helped my old laptop run faster
VLC isn't only a media player, it also works perfectly as a video converter (works with a wide range of formats that I can't name off the top of my head).
I've been waiting for something like this for so long...The second I pasted that script into powershell...tears of joy
congragulations, what specs you have
Awesome work man! I’ll be looking forward too trying this out this weekend
Should Ask to remove or not Office
Should Ask to Remove or not Action Center
Should ask to install or not Java and every others program
the keyword here is ASK whatever you propose. Just make the script to ask.
Feel free to modify the script and resubmit it to the author :-)
This is so ultimate clean. Thank you so much for this simply genius!!!
Is there a *Debloat Windows in 2023* seems it stops at 2022...?
Dear Chris, thank you very much for taking the time to make this video.
And thank you very much for sharing your work and your knowledge with others.
Stay safe and sound!
Best regards from Chile.
Could you make a version where we get to choose more options of things we want to remove. Also thankyou for making it simple and usable.
Windows Image configuration designer is what you need its in the Windows ADK
Thanks so much for this! It's just saved a very tired laptop from the recycling centre! Your work is very much appreciated.
But, maybe you can do it like this:
1. question if you like to install default programs (whatever you choose) - If yes, no more questions.
2. If no - option to install nothing and option to go trough optional installs (for all of them).
Edit: I see you already did it with prompts - but I let original comment above...
I successfully installed windows 11 on my 1st gen ASUS K52F laptop. Thank you so much sir. I will be your follower.
Would this get rid of my nahimic audio?, because it is a pain to reinstall and i honestly dont want to go through the process again
Good thing that you included the creation of restore point before proceeding in debloating because after doing this, my PC went bonkers 😅
Why?
@@kinjj9791 my pc won't open up my usual programming apps that I need for school
U came like santa for me 😁 exactly what i needed 😎
I always come back to this video when I fresh install W10. Top!
20% increase of FPS in a game...
Make all your "recommended" apps a y/n question and I would use it.
Right now your script is basically doing the same microsoft does:
"This is the best for you, you will use it"
Well you could not install them, then complain when you can't open a file.
How have I lived without this script ??? fantastic!
This disabled the 'Your Phone' app, how do I go about re-enabling that? I couldn't find a way with the scripts provided. Thanks.
Go in microsoft store i guess
PSPad is also a very good text editor.
No Chris!!! I like it that this script installs more software. This cracks me up. I thought this was a DEBLOAT script. No Chris!!!

@Peter Sawan I'm not even sure if 8GB is enough anymore. Try to aim for 16, if it is possible for you, but I am guessing that your system is a bit outdated as well so might not worth to get that much memory.
It removes W10 control center & IE, other than that its pretty good.
I'm looking forward to your windows 11 version of this, sir
