Im glad to see dragonbane getting more love! The adventure in the core set and this new path of Glory are how adventure books should be written. I just read over it once then hit the table. Little prep needed. An experienced GM can run from book and ad-lib along the way. There are a lot of cool 3rd party adventures out there too that run with this style. I dont need 500pages of fluff. just give me the maps a succinct room description and off I go. I mean heck yeah im gonna take the fate mill die with me. But notes...rarely..just a couple bullets lest i forget something ( which I still do) Damn you free league with you evocative art, layout and quality values...There goes the extra cash. At least I am supporting people who care. No excuse me as I go play some dragonbane
I just got a hold of this adventure book. I love the art work, the clear layout and love the story. It does say that this is difficult adventure and advises that characters have undergone the campaign in the core set. I do think its important to include some investment in the characters backstory if possible to tie them to adventure as it unfolds. Sometimes this can be difficult with the deadliness of the Dragonbane system.
I heard one random guy say he was disappointed in this adventure, so it was nice to hear your opinion. I'm still kind of on the fence about Dragonbane. It just looks so deadly, I don't know how that would fly with my friends, and so far I haven't figured out how to mitigate that deadliness without wrecking what makes it cool. Art, though . . . Oh Yeah!
In my experience, it feels much deadlier than it is. Being knocked down is easy, but dying is hard. We haven't had a single death yet, despite fairly careless players. Plus, there is no shame in running away from a fight that's beginning to go sideways.
Excellent review and video! Hey- what “game books or modules “ do you just like to read and enjoy for its writing and art? regardless if you ever get to play it? Love the series!
My top is 2e AD&D, the art the conciseness of the rules to me is an upgrade. The presentation was 2nd only in edition, lol. Beyond that, I really love Mörk Borg and their graphic display and thematic writing. Also The One Ring RPG is amazing, as well as Dragonbane.......all being offered by Free League. Trudvang, which is not being produced anymore has A M A Z I N G ! ! ! art I just did not care for the system. Cheers!
The durability added by lamination of the two-sided maps may help. I found ink from a wet erase marker . These tend to resist smudging better. If you were to put any marking on either side.
I am so happy Free League finally brought this game to English speaking audiences. Glad I backed the game. I ordered this adventure as soon as it was announced. It’s still in the plastic wrapping on my shelf and I haven’t had a chance to read it yet as I’ve been working my way through a backlog of Forbidden Lands and Vaesen. I’ve read a bit of it in the pdf and it looks great. Drinking anything good over there?

Quality & style seems good at least.
