    Honestly, this mod kind of compromises a lot of what makes the final boss so great in the first place. Removing the ability to parry the gloom projectiles is easily my least favorite change. That’s there in the game as both a callback to previous Ganondorf fights and as a reward for attempting to fight back against something dangerous enough to decay both your shield durability and health, and it made the overall spectacle of the fight that much better. Quadrupling his health also didn’t seem to do much in terms of increasing the difficulty beyond making the fight more tedious than necessary, even with extremely high damage weapons. I’d personally just double it. Despite these issues, there is room for something good here. The actual final boss in game definitely could’ve used way less wind-up between attacks, and forcing the player to tighten up their timing in order to fight back seems like it would fit perfectly into the natural progression of the fight.

      I think he is using the prologue master sword(obtained via glitches) which can't deflect the gloom gloobs. That's like literally the only upgrade the sword gets.

      Yes, at the beginning it shows him switching to the MsgNotFound sword. In terms of reducing telegraphing, the spear is the only weapon he does that with where he slightly lowers his arms then attacks. Although, sometimes long telegraphs are what make something difficult to time, it is not the case with this boss.
      (edit) Just saw a comment by EDMIRE saying the gloom parries are removed.

    The increased speed and aggression of the fight is quite nice overall, and makes him feel like a fighter *truly* on the same level as Link. I do think the quadruple health is pretty bogus, however. I would've not changed the health at all, or at least made it more like a 50% increase.

      I’d double it. What I think should have happened in this fight is something similar to the demon dragon fight. Make the master sword 10x stronger in addition to Ganondorf’s health 10x more. We could probably make the master sword 5x stronger here to make it a challenge.

    • @jimboanimations4041

      @@finalbossd I suppose so. I just dislike inflating stats more than needed. If anything, I would keep the health the same, but make Ganondorf even quicker (and perhaps make his shadow clones in phase 2 try and keep you occupied more often.)

      @@jimboanimations4041 Option B would be to cut all damage to Ganondorf by 80% unless it’s the master sword specifically, then it would deal 1/2 damage. I think a fused master sword destroys phase I too quickly in my opinion. He should also parry arrows a lot more often so you can’t cheese him. I think the weakness of the Demon King Ganondorf fights is that you can cheese him too easily and not engage with him, or just corner him and keep wailing on him.

    • @jimboanimations4041
      @jimboanimations4041 Рік тому

      @@finalbossd I think fixing the cheeses would indeed be good, but I still prefer making him more deadly and aggressive over making him tankier, especially in phase 1. • @finalbossd
      @finalbossd Рік тому

      @@jimboanimations4041 I’d like to see both. Moderately tankier, but far more aggressive and deadly. My suggestions: His flurry rush should be undodgable three to four hit combos. You’ll need to parry them and you can’t just block one hit. This forces you to either learn to parry or learn his timings to avoid counterattacks. Two: Give him jump attacks similar to link for all his weapons, like the sword and spear. Three: Make his combos generally longer. You should be punished for just blocking one attack and not learning his attack patterns. Four: He should deal a minimum of three hearts of damage per hit so he’s still a challenge if you maxed out your armor. Also, you should be able to take multiple hits in a combo instead of being invincible when knocked to the ground, this way, it’s more like a duel.

    I honestly don't enjoy unnecessarily bloated HP bars. I do think Ganondorf could have benefitted from more health, but to the point of 30 minutes (even using a Zuggled Master Sword) to take him down just makes the fight feel more tedious. I think maybe a little more health, a slightly recovering HP bar if you don't attack for a while (and I think even this might be a bit much), and maybe a few more moves would have given this fight a slightly more interesting difficulty curve.

    • @averysketchygamer3241
      @averysketchygamer3241 Рік тому +6

      @@thewizardbrand that's not a standard. To say a "Final Boss *needs* to be absurdly difficult every time" is a fallacy. Sure, sometimes challenge in Final Bosses are appreciated, but making them artificially difficult for the sake of being diffucult can make some fights feel cheap. Take bosses like Yaldabaoth from Persona 5. I wouldn't say they're an incredible boss fight, they're just a damage sponge with a lot of damage that just requires you to cycle your units in repetitive and unfun manners. It takes balance as well as the right type of game to make difficult boss fights fun, like Isshin from Sekiro. They are designed to be difficult, but his health and posture are not designed to wall you off entirely. As a matter of fact you can kill him in less than 2 minutes with optimal strategies and skill. Does that make him a worse boss fight? Not in the slightest. He's still incredibly difficult while also being a benchmark of your game knowledge. He's a perfect sendoff of a final boss
      But not all final bosses are designed to be challenging. Some can be incredibly easy and still work as a boss. Take Sephiroth from FF7, he's not a hard boss by any means, but he's still incredibly memorable and leaves a massive impact as a final boss
      Like I said, it just depends on the game

      Ganondorf needs:
      - more attacks
      - more timing delays and speeds to keep you guessing
      - a bit more health (maybe 2.5x)
      - some unblockables
      and this is just a start. Point is, it didn't feel satisfying to beat him. Anyone who mastered parrying is having such an easy time. The only time he responds to your defense is when he uses perfect dodging, but he still uses the same timing. It's a letdown, but at least he looked cool.

      @@noblepursuit591 do keep in mind this is a Nintendo game and not Dark Souls. Even though it appeals to All Ages, it still does hold a sizeable market to children. I think TotK Ganondorf strikes a great balance between a hard learning curve with weak armor+weapons and an easy learning curve with stronger armor+weapons. I first fought him with roughly 12 hearts and each attack dealt 4 damage due to my armor. I promised I would not upgrade my Master Sword or use food during the battle. With these in mind, I ended up having a blast. Took me 3-5 attempts to beat him my first time, and then I added more caveats like forcing myself to flurry rush cancel out of his spin attack. It was an incredibly enticing situation where he got progressively harder the more I held myself back, and unlike other games where it feels like you have to actively cripple yourself to make the game fun, it feels moreso like your difficulty is heavily based on your exploration rather than experience

    One of my big gripes with the game is the fact that you did not NEED the Master Sword to fight Ganon in his first two forms. Made it feel like Zelda's sacrifice was mostly meaningless. I wish they'd have made it so that you have to get the sword before this fight. Made it so that any other weapon regardless of fusions/buffs would only do 1HP damage or better yet, zero. Really sell the narrative that the Sword That Seals the Darkness was the only thing that could hurt him.

    i mean, ganondorfs first phase was only there to test link if he is actually a worthy foe, so making it more difficult would be quite dull (altho the damage recieved should atleast be 4 hearts to link, not 1)
    2nd phase is where things start to get serius, he should be more agile with the flurries, faster weapon changes, faster bow firing (and some what predicting fire, so link doesnt have to sprint in 1 direction).
    and since the health bar is increased, the third phase should start at 3/4 of his health.
    3rd phase should be where ganon is at 100% power againts link, we are talking about more flurries, less gloom projectiles, more gloom in land, damages now deal 6 hearts hearts, and sometimes damages would erase 4 hearts, almost instant weapon changes, and more moves/more random so its harder for the player to flurry rush.

    A true boss fight would make it harder to read and react to his moves, not just make it 4x as tedious to fight him with the exact same moves and the exact same strategies. I feel like every time I watch a Ganondorf boss fight for this game, it's just an endless repetition of "counter counter counter perfect perfect perfect" like is it seriously that big of an accomplishment to no damage this boss? Yeah, maybe watching Elden Ring gamers has tainted my perspective of what "hard" looks like in games like this, but really...making a boss fight have 4x HP without actually increasing the challenge of fighting the boss itself is just like saying "I need to kill time, how can I make a relatively simple fight take longer so I feel like it's harder even though it isn't?"
