seemed like this was a very peaceful and relaxing trip Pete...I often love solo time out in nature away from 'it all'. Glad you got out and recharged, there is so much more to life than just working and paying bills.
Another Great video. I LOVE the commitment to get the shot driving away. My wife would have asked, "why are we turning around?" After explaining I had to retrieve the camera her eyes would have rolled all of the way to the back of her head!
I have 29 boats! LOL. I would need a lot of ropes. Also be careful with having clips and ropes on the outside of the boat...they are big snag hazards. Thanks Jim!
Hey Pete, Rob McDorman told me about your channel... So cool! You probably don't remember me but you coached my city league soccer team when I was a teen ager. It's funny, we should really hang out sometime because we have a lot in common. I still love soccer, I have a 4Runner and for a little while was doing a lot of UA-cam with Mountains to Sea Overland, and I have spent a lot of time kayaking and canoeing the Haw River!
Right on Brad!! If I remember correctly, you were on my nephew Judah's team? How have you been?! Great to hear from you and yes, lets get out there on the river soon! I will be checking out the channel!
Great trip!! I wondered if you always just took the big kayak camping. That looks like one of our trips! We have 10 ‘ kayaks, hammocks, and trees in the water instead of over rocks, its around and under the down falls. Gators and hogs to add to the deer. Sandbars with trees at the edge for sites to camp on. We love it, adventure!!! See you on the next one.
I felt you dragging the yak up to the camp site. I had to drag mine up a 9' cliff one time. As you I had forgot my rope. That does not happen any more lol. Great vid bro. Also I have a light that a construction worker left at the apts. I work at and never claimed. Be great as a headlight on your yak. When I go back to work tomorrow I'll get the name of it and send to you. Will help a lot after dark when looking for camp sites. It is rechargeable led light. Very bright.
Thanks again for sharing this! So if your wife is (kind of) responsible for this channel, she's also responsible for me enjoying so many hours of videos, getting back into kayaking and buying two boats. A big shout out to your wife, tell her THANK YOU from the other side of the world! Would you mind sharing the recipe for the Amish bread you mentioned? I like trying new stuff in the kitchen...
What a great solo trip!! How did the Dagger Katana do. I was amazed at how much you was pulling out of the dry hatch. When you have time I would like to see what you took and how you packed in the kayak. Would it be safe to say if you went for 3 days you would just need to add more meals.
The Katana was great! It is obviously slow on the flats, but does amazing when you need to maneuver. It was def the right boat choice for the scootchy water! Yes, I had everything I needed for 3 days or more except needed more food. I did not even need to access the bow storage. Great idea for a video!
I am so used to operating in the dark that it isn't even really a thing anymore! LOL. As long as I am relatively comfortable with the rapids a particular river will produce...that can make things a no go.
That is a canvas Army surplus "A - Bag" or Aviator bag (true A bag has backpack straps, this is a parachute bag). tough as nails and very affordable. I also use a backpack strapped duffle in conjunction. A bag - amzn.to/3rPar0j Duffle - amzn.to/3RQilB5
Whoa that water was low, I don't think I've seen under the bottom platform at Union Bridge yet, what was the gauge? Edited to ask, what is that lift system you got? I have an SUV too and the white water kayaks are ok to get up, but our hobies are bears to get up there. Can you have 2 of them, one for each side?
It was def very low! maybe the lowest I have ever paddle it. That is the Tooenjoy system. Yes you can def put two up there. Here is the link... ua-cam.com/video/9C3-jQAnVgc/v-deo.html
@@RiverKingsKayak thats the plan for today actually! I got the day off for Columbus day. Im going to the lake to paddle and try out my dry suit. Rafting new river gorge on Saturday so i want to get a feel for this suit first.

Thanks a ton Ryan! LOL. she said exactly that!
I have my rope clipped on the bow of my Jackson and then clips on the stern, it's always there! GREAT VID MAN!

@@RiverKingsKayak oh I would definitely love to see a video on packing the Katana. Thanks!
Nice solo trip, Pete! That's a little freaky to me to be finding shelter in the dark alone. But I imagine you knew where you were at more than most.

Great little solo trip. My fav videos to watch.
