Listening from Surrey, England. Thank you so much for having Melissa on, it was very triggering as I am 40, with 3 little kids have have incurable cancer. Her words were so profound and thoughtful. What a woman ❤️❤️❤️ I am recording the Book of Mormon onto UA-cam for my kids, for a legacy for them, in the hope that they will always know that their mummy believed in Jesus, and believed in the Book of Mormon. John, you inspired me as a teenager, when I heard you on a talk say to read the scriptures with charisma, I have always done that, and felt them come to life. Thank you 🙏

I appreciated Melissa’s comment about accepting your path.
I have stage 4 pancreatic cancer. From the beginning I felt love from Heavenly Father and knew there was something I was supposed to learn before I passed through the veil.
Never a moment of anxiety, only calm and peace.
My certainty of God’s love has grown even as my body betrays my dignity a little more every day.
    Cheers

I’m in Portugal. 34 years in the church. I think I knew Maria Silva! I certainly know several Angolan members that went there from my own ward, who come back sometimes to visit. So sad that Melissa won’t be able to read this. But I know and testify that she will know how much she touched me ❤. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is true and one of its biggest miracles is this spirit of Zion, that unites us all, Portuguese, African, American, Asian, it doesn’t matter, because we are covenant keeping saints and followers of Jesus Christ. Thank you soooo much for what you’re doing. Love, Paula Costa, Oeiras Ward.

Sometimes you have to accept the hard things of the world, Dr. Inouye shares. Sometimes God delivers and sometimes he does not. My take away from this episode is that I must learn to trust that God loves me and that whatever hardships I am called to endure will be in the end for my good - whether or not I am delivered. Thank you Dr. Inouye.

This week, I was able to get a jumpstart on next Sunday's Come Follow Me lesson and started with this podcast. When Hank opened with his special message my heart was saddened and touched at the same time. I was so grateful to have a couple of days where I had quiet in my home so I could listen to Melissa speak, and the Spirit spoke to my heart in some of the most profound ways. I wish I could have met Melissa in person as her life seems to be one that could teach me a lot about perspective and attitude. I am always grateful for the scripture podcasts which deepen my understanding and love for the scriptures and my Savior. Thank-you for providing this service for all of us. I can only imagine the preparation that goes into all of these lessons. My words can't fully express the gratitude in my heart for all of you and your production team. Melissa will be missed! (from Saratoga Springs, Utah, formerly of Minnesota).

Listening from Arizona, but last week I listened from Alaska! My deepest sympathy for Melissa's family. Through a spiritual prompting after my mother died from lymphoma, I learned she was better able to minister to her family from beyond the veil in her spiritual state than with a sick and failing body here among us on earth. May Melissa's family feel that, too.

Listening from Spanish Fork, Utah. Melissa mentioned that her Grandparents were from Gunnison, Utah. Her Grandfather was my mother’s doctor and Bishop there when she passed away from her battle with cancer. He truly mourned with those that mourn, so kind and gentle. Northern Thailand- A ready insipiring episode. One thing Im seeing while living here is that even though we are a small branch, we keep seeing Chinese citizens investigsting the church while they are here for work or vacation and take it back with them. Just this past weekend we had a baptism of a Chinese brother and two Chinese young women were walking by the church building about an hour before the baptism. Now you cant actually see the building from the road because it is behind some other buildings. But they saw rhe gate and felt like they should come in and see. The missionaries were preparing for the baptism (filling the font, etc.) so happenrd to be there. So gave them a tour of the building and invited them to stay for the baptism and rhey came to church the next day. The beother that was baptized, is heading back to China today where he will be a member there, continuing to bring thr gospel there.

Listening from Asuncion Paraguay.. I am a widower who recently (last July) met and married (last October) a widow who shortly after our marriage (January) agreed to serve a mission with me. We have been jumping from one wilderness to another and couldn’t be happier. We arrived here in Paraguay less than 2 weeks ago and have seen and felt the results of this amazing draw that is bringing people into the gospel. In this mission perhaps 25% are native English speaking gringos and the rest are from all over Latin America. The strength of their testimonies and their capabilities and dedication is breathtaking. Melissa hit the nail on the head on both accounts.

Sometimes your own trials of being a human is blessings your circles of humans around you. The plan of redemption is not only to involve those that planned . A perfect plan is involve all of us with our experiences to bless others in despair. It was this way that Jesus exemplified it. His suffering is still a way to bless all of us. God is using Sister Melissa trials to help others to see things within different eyes Her suffering is not in vain.

This interview was so helpful to some of my specific struggles that I've been praying about. I feel like I now have a witness of some struggles that I don't feel like I can really talk to anybody about. But God knows and sent Melissa.
I can't help but think about how Abinadi's message perhaps reaches more hearts because of his death. And that Melissa's message will reach more hearts in the church and beyond perhaps because she is no longer with us.
This interview is a treasure. Thank you.

Melissa's message is so timely, as I've struggled with serving in a culture at church that doesn't conform easily to my idea of "wisdom and order", which Melissa helped me see is more order than wisdom 😅. I love these stories of rescue. I reread them when I was in a challenging living situation. Should I persevere? Should I bail? The situation involved living with my adult children (not an abusive marriage.) I was anxious that relationships NOT be damaged, but the living situation was not good. I prayed earnestly, watched and waited. I knew the Lord would help. I was curious about HOW. Would it be like Limhi's people? Would the Lord be "slow to hear my cries"? Or like Alma's people? The Lord opened the door and saved me. Within a few months, I moved and my children understood. It was hard, but the rescue was complete.

From West Jordan, Utah. I love this, I love that when we visit someone who is in need that can be a witness to that person that God hears them.
What a beautiful soul. I imagine she is continuing to work on global history on the other side of the veil.

    I appreciate this podcast.
We are in Hawaii and 2 years ago the stake split the military ward to help local wards.
It was hard for all, for the miltary and for the local people. But with time we have grown to appreciate each other and see our differences and how they compliment both sides.
We still have a lot to learn but we are united in Christ 🙏❤️
Thank you! RIP dear sister 💔 you have fought the fight... Blessings and comfort to the family and children 🙏

Dr Melissa has truly touched my heart today❤ my sister moved to heaven after battling cancer for 7 years leaving her husband and small children. I fell in love with her in come follow up and I’m so glad this interview is here permanently as a testimony and legacy of her beautiful love for our Savior and perspective on suffering and her stories of global church members which I can’t wait to go read.

I plan to share part one of this podcast, because many people might not listen to the whole thing. If they will just view part one, it can change them for the better.

Inouye, Smith, and Bytheway: my dream team of gospel insight and humor.
My favorite comments: "Jesus said love your enemies. What better place to find enemies than your local ward!" "So many enemies, one convenient location!"
    "It's always 1830 somewhere."
    "We are Team Jesus."
"From Christ's perspective, politics don't matter so much."

Listening from Timmins, Ontario. How inspiring to have Melissa be a guest (for the first and only time) for this particular scripture lesson! Listening today, knowing that she passed after this recording, added so much meaning to the lessons taught by all 3 of you on the importance of covenant belonging and what that means in a global church where so many face adversity and yet strive to be there for others when comfort and help is needed. To Melissa’s family I express sincere condolences. Like Paul, she could say “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day…” (2 Tim 4: 7-8). Life truly is short and yet one person can add so much to that life! Melissa’s influence will be felt for generations in mortality and in eternity! Thank you so much!❤
