They spent so much money on that 6 second animated graphic that they felt the need to shoehorn it in the video 10 times. Which means that out of 8 minutes, one full minute is spent looking at that animated graphic. So about 13% of this video is useless. The rest of it, well that's up for debate.
The tuner doesn't change the sound of your guitar it just checks if it's in tune, so if he were to play with the tuner turned on it would sound like a clean guitar
Yeah cheaper and better sounding I remember my friend brought a boss chorus through Internet and then changed it for a random pedal in guitar center becouse They were better :p
As long ago as this video was. Regeneration isn't made up. Its actually the term Boss and all other delay makers use to describe the feedback of signal as it it blended with the source. Its where the great sounds live. ;) G.
I love how they gave the standard distortion shit to the chick that only plays power chords! like, "yeah yeah this is your standard punk rock pedal..... trust me i have green hair, cliche glasses and play only power chords!"
She was actually using the M 3rd above the chord, so technically speaking she wasn't playing a 'power chord', really just a chord. A 'power chord' is usually just a 'bar chord' with no complicated finger placements involving only the 1st and 5th notes of the chord, where as she was playing a major chord using 1-3-5.
bkeaneyboy I love my super chorus. I haven't tried the ensemble. You'll have to let your ears decide which one to choose. But I do recommend adding a chorus pedal to your rig.
Acoustic Sim is abysmal. I suppose it's ok for what it's trying to do, but it just sounds like a trebly clean electric to me when compared to a real acoustic or even a piezo system.
The Metal Zone is dreadful. It's like listening to heavy metal a Walkman through 1st generation in-ear headphones on a noisy aircraft. All you get is a dreadful high end which makes the music absolutely intolerable. It's exquisitely bad.
please help me i have semi acoustic guitar (IBANEZ AEG24) and i want to buy distortion pedal but i don't know if it make my guitar as electric please if someone knows something about that answer me
What’s the next Boss pedal I wonder? The NS-2 is on my board since 1993. I prefer the CS-1 out of the CS-2 and CS-3 as I own them all. The old DD-3 units were warmer but the DM-3 is much nicer. Metal Zone is my least favorite. Horrible. SD-2 is great with a Maxon OD-9. The BD-2 sounds too fizzy for me. It’s a paperweight now! I don’t own a DD-7 but it sounds super cold. DS-1 is spiky but ok if you’ve a crap amp. The RC-3 is fantastic as I’ve mine full of tracks for jamming along to. Invaluable tool for chops. I’ve a TU-2!
Look, I own 7 Roland Synths, More Boss effects and pedals then I can count (over 40ish), these were some of the Worst choices in pedals I ever heard! A tuner you can use an app for or have 3 of those cheap Korgs lying around? MT-2 Metal zone, I have this and it is not a good pedal! No Chorus pedals, you know they main thing they are known for? Why two delays, does anyone really use 6 second delays anyway? No flanger or reverb pedals? Hell, I have an old EH-2 enhancer pedal I LOVE, but would not put it in a top 10 as it does very little. If you guys are pros, I would not take advice from you for sure, sad really...
Are you guys crazy? The best boss pedals are the BF-3, PH-3, DS-2, HM-2, RV-5, and TR-2. Not the loop station, noise gate, and tuners, and definitely the metal zone pedal.
Umm, You ended with the tuner? Wooow you guys really took some risks there. Oh my God that was tedious.. it was not exciting in the least the way that you presented the 10 pedals that were seemingly just their best known pedals, and you didn't show any of their more obscure or lesser known gems.. this felt less like a you tube video, and more like a 3rd grade group report on boss that you all were forced to do against your will.
Should have spent more time identifying the pedals being exhibited by each player and less time with the players looking into the screen after giving their example, but it’s all good gave a decent rundown. But even in the list if it showed a little more distinctly what pedal is number 5 or 6 or what it looks like so the viewed can better remember it both visually and audibly and not just by the words coming out of the mouths. Thanks nonetheless tho
Yuck to all but the looper n tuner , not for me, The CS-3 is tweakable to a nice pedal, most are really, but by the time i am done buying parts to make them usable and time involved, not worth the money. Just not a Boss fan, Vintage Boss is another story however.Still not a fan.
Elio George Yes and no. Yes if you want a all in one type of deal. No if you like a certain type of sound as a processor can fall short of that sound or give off too digital of a sound
I love my Boss pedals (that are seriously bulletproof--I've had most of'em since the early eighties), but I confess--I hate my CS-3. LOL My Keeley, however-- LOVE it. :-) Sorry Boss! You can't always win! Haaaa
They spent so much money on that 6 second animated graphic that they felt the need to shoehorn it in the video 10 times. Which means that out of 8 minutes, one full minute is spent looking at that animated graphic.
So about 13% of this video is useless. The rest of it, well that's up for debate.
+ClamsAnonymous I thought the exact same thing… minus all of the maths! :P
Thank you!
go to 8:00 to hear the tuner in action.
+haggai samuelson You swine!
you can get 1 for free as a phone app, saved 100 bucks
Hahaha!
They show the sound of all other pedals but not the tuner :(
+Alfons Pettersson .... because it is not very accurate ??
+Alfons Pettersson "as you can see my guitar is very in tune" *plays generic blues riff*
+Alfons Pettersson we talkin about the tuner pedal right ?
Yes?
The tuner doesn't change the sound of your guitar it just checks if it's in tune, so if he were to play with the tuner turned on it would sound like a clean guitar
having the tuner as the best pedal boss makes is a bit anti climactic.
You put the tuner at number one? LOL.
I'm glad I have mine. Although it's probably not the most exciting pedal, it's really handy to have, especially acting as a mute for the signal.
can't believe I've wasted my time watching all the way to #1. for a fridging tuner! A TUNER!
2:28 - 2:42 make it stop
Earrape
The worst
Just awful
no chorus? awww but everything sounds better with chorus.
boss chorus sucks
ehh. they do the job. there are always better options than boss though.
Yeah cheaper and better sounding I remember my friend brought a boss chorus through Internet and then changed it for a random pedal in guitar center becouse They were better :p
Ahahahahahhahahaha really how about CE1 CE2 CE 3 CE5 these are some pretty darn good ones mate
Chorus can’t be too bad, it’s a fairly simple analog effect. Just depends how it’s used.
Fender reverb deluxe (FDR1) is the best boss pedal of all time. Its got real spring reverb, Eq/Gain , and real Fender Blackface modeling
metal zone I have has got nothing but great fan approval
Because being in tune is the best effect.
Why does the DD3 suddenly change into the DD7?
I think they wanted to show the longer sustain delay or whatever who cares
1:41 - "and that will continue for a very long time using regeneration"
regeneration? did you just make that shit up?
Water, fire, air and Earth. Fucking compressors, how do they work?
they make shit louder...right breh?
He sure did make that shit up, LOL.
As long ago as this video was. Regeneration isn't made up. Its actually the term Boss and all other delay makers use to describe the feedback of signal as it it blended with the source. Its where the great sounds live. ;) G.
Just got a Boss RV-5 reverb- very happy with it.
one does not simply ignore the ce-5 chorus enseble
Yep,I have this one it's amany chorus so lush and warm love it
Stereo mode is where it's at
The DS-1 sounded too thin here...
Perhaps it will sound better with that ESP EC, rather than the Strat.
Not as thin or as fake sounding as a metal zone
about the tuner.. in the end they should say ' and this is how it sounds'... while the guy tunes his guitar. would be epic
Number 8 goes for the DD-3 and then seems to be playing through the DD-7?
Are all these pedals connection in one chain? If so, that's not exactly the best way to demo these pedals, is it?
I love how they gave the standard distortion shit to the chick that only plays power chords! like, "yeah yeah this is your standard punk rock pedal..... trust me i have green hair, cliche glasses and play only power chords!"
+Cory Brasfield You are so stupid...
I knew someone would make this comment lol
She was actually using the M 3rd above the chord, so technically speaking she wasn't playing a 'power chord', really just a chord. A 'power chord' is usually just a 'bar chord' with no complicated finger placements involving only the 1st and 5th notes of the chord, where as she was playing a major chord using 1-3-5.
Boss are the best pedals! What about the super chorus or the acoustic simulator? Two more of my favorites.
how is the super chorus? I've been looking into chorus pedals and I'm not sure if i want the Super Chorus or the Chorus ensemble.
bkeaneyboy I love my super chorus. I haven't tried the ensemble. You'll have to let your ears decide which one to choose. But I do recommend adding a chorus pedal to your rig.
Ok haha i'll keep that in mind.
Acoustic Sim is abysmal. I suppose it's ok for what it's trying to do, but it just sounds like a trebly clean electric to me when compared to a real acoustic or even a piezo system.
Lemmy Koopa I usually use it with my distortion to create a really cool tone. I rarely use on it's own.
The Metal Zone made this list. Everyone on the planet thinks it's the worst pedal ever made in human history.
I understand why people like it but I do personally think it is dreadful. How can a pedal sound that tinny?
Timathie Foss this pedal can be made to sound good, funnily enough it only seems like it sounds good not playing metal- placebo use it on a few tracks
Yeah sold mine.. way out of control
The Metal Zone is dreadful. It's like listening to heavy metal a Walkman through 1st generation in-ear headphones on a noisy aircraft. All you get is a dreadful high end which makes the music absolutely intolerable. It's exquisitely bad.
What about chorus and reverb?
anyone know what kind of pickup is in yhe bridge position on that strat at 4:00
Just seems like a stock humbucker pick up to me
The Blues Driver can sound rather heavy with an almost AC/DC-like tone when you turn the gain all the way up.
That tuner has great tone
What's the first track in the background?
please help me i have semi acoustic guitar (IBANEZ AEG24) and i want to buy distortion pedal but i don't know if it make my guitar as electric
please if someone knows something about that answer me
Am I the only one that thinks the Metal Zone sounds awful and the Metal Core sounds much better?
You're not the only one. Metal zone was rated Worst Distortion of 2014
+kcduct taper METAL ZONE İS CRAP ı have metal core it is wayy better
NO. NOT AT ALL.
N D I’ve heard that using it as a pre amp makes it sound really good
That guy's face at 5:38 just screams kill me haha.
wtf!?... who decided the order? or the pedals selected for the top?...
But I didn't get to see how the tuner works why did they do that?
WHERE IS HM-2?!?!?! THE SWEET SOUND OF SWEDISH DEATH METAL MEATBALLZZZ!!!!
so dude i am wondering what differs a guitar effect pedal with a bass effect pedal ?
thank you
Rizky Hadi Felani Usually a bass pedal is designed to boost the low end or blend the lows into the effect so you don't lose the bass frequency end.
Redlight i see, thank you so much for the information :)
ADDING TO MY PREVIOUS COMMENT, WHERE' S THE ACOUSTIC SIMULATOR ? ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PEDALS BY BOSS ?
Only thing I liked about the metal Zone part is the guy playing what sounds like Davidian by Machine Head from 3:16 to 3:29
whats the difference between the ds1 and sd1 distortion? anyone?
ds-1 is distortion, sd-1 is an overdrive (i think its called super orverdrive or somethong like that...)
Are you recording this video with just a webcam ?
great video
Bf2/Bf3 flanger is my fav
The OverDrive OD-3 is excellent.
I agree.
Two digital delays and no chorus?
David Beason Seriously--the CS is still one of my favorites, nice and sweet sounding.
no ch1?
Name of guitar number 1 please
Do Boss pedals have true bypass? Is there a noticeable loss of tone? :)
as far as I know there aren't any true bypass boss pedals, some people say they can hear a loss of tone but I personally can't.
OD-3 ?
using or maybe loving the MT-2 is not a sin.
What’s the next Boss pedal I wonder? The NS-2 is on my board since 1993. I prefer the CS-1 out of the CS-2 and CS-3 as I own them all. The old DD-3 units were warmer but the DM-3 is much nicer. No chorus or flanger?
I don't think they understand that "slapback" typically only has about 1 repeat.
You noticed that too? Lol.
where is ml-2 ?
Love the Rack ...
what about Chorus No 10½
Why wasn't the RV-5 number 3... Its everywhere!
+sugar westen FRV is a nice one toooooo
Damn!!!... the girl uses an ESP´s T-shirt and is playing a Fender guitar. No way!
looks good.
They say "best selling," but I'd still liked to have seen the FT-2 or TW-1 make the list. Plus, the GE-7 over the tuner, please....
haha tuner at no 1 sounds awesome best tone ever 😅
Tuners are so overrated
Machine Head riff. Respect.
The only boss pedal I love is the purple/pink flanger.
The Metal Core sounds way better than the Metal Zone in my opinion.
Wayyy better. The metal zone was rated the worst distortion of 2014
It depends on what music you play.
Should have spent more time identifying the pedals being exhibited by each player and less time with the players looking into the screen after giving their example, but it’s all good gave a decent rundown. Good ol DS-1 my baby
Yuck to all but the looper n tuner , not for me, The CS-3 is tweakable to a nice pedal, most are really, but by the time i am done buying parts to make them usable and time involved, not worth the money. Just not a Boss fan, Vintage Boss is another story however.Still not a fan.
Thats a DD7 not a DD3 lol
+Justin Mosher then they actually had the DD7 on the list and used it again.
+Justin Mosher He's actually using the DD-3 (saying 12.5 ms to 800ms, correct in the first photo) but the other two photos are showing the DD-7.
+George Kollaros all white pedals look alike hehe
I noticed absolutely no difference with the noise suppressor. 🤔
3 hours of looping? who would need a 3 hour loop?
It means in the memory :)
All the elements. Fire. Earth. Wind. *sustain via regeneration*
#8. Boss DD-3 delay. 2:20 Picture of a DD-7. 😑
I have never wanted a DS1 as much as I do right now. HAWT
The graphic filler for the countdown is literally a Walmart version of bulls on parade
prix
Nope, gimme' the Boss the CE-2 light blue chorus and the purple flanger from the late 70's. Used them for years before I went MIDI in the early 90's
what a horrible sounding amp. any guesses on what it is?
od3 ?? os2 ?? :/
Wait... you had me until DS1 at #3?!..
A whole wall's worth of boss buffers in the signal chain...
2 delay pedals? wasted a slot
But is a very good demo video.
You guys reviewed the delay pedal twice? Whoever decided to torture us with that stupid intermission should get life in the electric chair.
Did anyone else notice the the DD-7 was used both times. Lol
This list is a joke. Sorry, but Boss has some real good and iconic pedals that hasn't even mentioned here.
Kinda weird seeing different guitarist demoing each different pedals
The animation between the pedals is so annoying... :D
What? 10 most common Boss pedals maybe. Sux.
Isn't it better to just buy a processor?
Elio George Yes and no. Yes if you want a all in one type of deal. No if you like a certain type of sound as a processor can fall short of that sound or give off too digital of a sound
thumbs up if u thought #1 had the best tone
Le genre de video qui fait du bien, on se dit qu'on est pas si mauvais à la guitare :) 2:28 !!!!!
I love my Boss pedals (that are seriously bulletproof--I've had most of'em since the early eighties), but I confess--I hate my CS-3. LOL
My Keeley, however-- LOVE it. :-) Sorry Boss! You can't always win! Haaaa
boss ce-2 anyone?!?!?!?!
0:52 limp Bizkit :D
CE-2 should be in the top 3
Boss DD-3
Boss OS-s
Boss RT-20
Boss DD-6
Boss CH-1
Boss PN-2
The best pedal Boss ever made is the CS-2
Does anyone at this store actually play guitar?!
Am I the only one that thinks that the boss metal zone isn't that good? I don't think many of the boss dist. or od pedals are good.
chorus dudes - chorus !!!!!
