(sorry for my english, not good). I bought the carplay from this seller. I did the installation and everything worked normally. Later I installed an aftermarket reversing camera. and the camera was working normally.a friend of mine also got the carplay. my carplay was one of the first (silver color). My friend's carplay was a black one with some differences on the outside. the store told us that only the color changes and that it is the same. my friends carplay had some problems with the software. They sent him new software. He Installed it and everything works fine. With the new software it also has wireless android auto, something that mine did not support (although on the page where I bought it, they write that it supports it). He gave me the software to install it on my own carplay as a new version. And that's where the problems started. I found that it had completely different settings. I searched it and corrected the settings. Everything started working except the reversing camera. When I put the back gear on, the carplay crashes, and it needs to restart to work again.I texted the seller and told him all this. The only answer I got was this: "can not update , the hardware are different" From that moment I sent them endless messages, both on the site and in the mail. Nobody answers me. I beg them to help me, to tell me if there is any arrangement that will solve the problem. Or if the software is not for my own carplay (this is the most likely, the 2 carplay have other differences other than optical), to send me the right software to solve the problem. No response from the seller. I gave them good reviews and 5 stars (although some of what they advertised was not true:wireles android auto) (even when they did not even have installation and operation instructions on the shipment and it took me a lot of messages to get them) I advertised them in my country, I brought them customers who bought from them. And when I needed help they ignored me completely. Where is the support that said offer after sale? It is a product of 200+ euros and has no support or guarantee after purchase. But they mention this on their page. I will consider complaining to AliExpress about the seller. And I will ask for my money back from an unreliable and fake seller.
Hi Theodoros, We will upload the camera rear view installation very soon and will explain everything. We're very sorry for the long waiting. Thanks, The DIY Guys
Hi Brian, The heating control works as normal. You can switch between the original system and the carplay system. All the buttons on the steering wheel also work as before.
Hi, I bought The exact same on Aliexpress. Had good help from your video installing it. Thank you! I have problem with The audio, i get no audio from Spotify, phone etc, when Using Apple carplay. Maybe i missed a cable? Any other suggestions? Greatful if sombody has any tips
Hi, no sound appears to be a common issue. Most of my experience is from AA use but I have had Carplay working on a test phone also. A few things to check Are you connecting USB in media transfer mode not just charge mode? This can be set as default USB mode in Android via developer menu, not sure what process is on iPhone but then I don't recall it asking for mode when I briefly connected iPhone so mode may not be an issue on iOS? Once you have connected and established AA/Carplay connection it has to be playing/outputting media via Spotify, internet radio etc before you switch back to SMEG audio to select AUX input. Otherwise AUX will not show in SMEG as selectable unless it is under 'input'. Until AUX is selected in SMEG you will not hear audio in AA or Carplay, just whatever radio or music you had on SMEG before switching to Carplay unit. However, despite the odd glitch I am now able to reliably play sound through system without additional cables if I follow the same routine = start vehicle -> connect phone to USB1 -> switch to Carplay unit -> establish AA connection (with music/radio output, easier just to use 'auto resume media' setting in AA) -> return to SMEG and select AUX -> return to Carplay unit with all sound working. I also disabled 'auto-launch' for AA when connected to car via (Peugeot) bluetooth to reduce potential conflicts. I prefer to establish AA connection via USB only as it seems to make the process more consistent and stops AA starting on phone before unit establishes its own connection. I did notice that the iPhone appears to be a little slicker at connecting both wired and wireless (no prompts for USB mode etc.) when I tested one but as I am not a frequent iPhone user I have not explored this further. If nothing else I assume the same would apply about Carplay having to be outputting something before you try to select AUX in SMEG. I am frustrated on you guys behalf who are having to use extra cables etc. as I have this working quite well with no additional cables. I am just wondering what the difference could be besides our phones? Is it differences in car spec? Mine is a 2015 308 SW Allure with factory reversing camera and the additional USB next to steering wheel which disappered due to cost cutting later on. I am happy to share more detailed AA/phone settings with anyone if this will help.
@@oligo33 Hi, thank you for your answer. Now it is working. Yes, there is a little conflict, when iphone is connecting automatic and through wifi. It is little bit tricky, you must something play on iphone, then go back to menu and then choose aux. But for now, factory reverse camera is working, i dont have any additional cable, so i am satisfied and recommend this extra system.
Hi again, been a while. Thanks for your tips. I seem to have an other issue. Have never used my AUX in car. It seems not to work in my car. Trying to play some media Using 3.5mm cable directly to the car AUX port, but the AUX doesnt light up in The source setting in SMEG. Is there any other way to connect audio?
Hi huyn, You firstly have to remove the part under the steering wheel (at 1:34 you can see that this part is removed). Secondly you will have to put little plates/blades as shown at 1:32 to push at both sides on the same time on both sides. This can be tricky because you will have to feel the metal plates on the inside from the middle part bounce and then pull the middle part at the same time. It will be handy for a person to help you with this. It will take some practice, this was not easy for us easy. I hope this helps! Thanks, The DIY Guys

yes you do, you can switch back and forth from the CarPlay unit to ther SMEG by holding the LIST button on the steering wheel (right hand). A short press of the button will activate the voice assistance (Google Assistance in my case).
Hi, Congratulations on the video. How can the carplay module be reset? It comes configured for another screen and it does not work for me. on the other hand, do you know if there is a way to update the firmware?
Hi Robber, You can easily switch back to climate controle by holding the 'plist' button down for a few seconds. (04:50 in the video) it will remeber the last screen the original car radio was on. you can toggle between the carplay and the original system very fast. Thanks for watching!
Hi, why did you remove the display? I did not see some cables or something else to change there in the video. Is it possible to remove not the display and just the SMEG Unit (the thing under the display)? THX a lot
Hi there! According to the product description this unit should support Android Auto. Have you actually seen if and how it works connected to an Android phone? If so could you please describe what it's like? Seems that an android phone would be connected through a cable. Where in the dashboard or console and how would this connection be made? Will any audio playing through the normal car system continue to play when switched to this unit? Will the audio from this product simply blend into it? In your video at one pint it seemed that much more was removed than just the dashboard parts directly related to the radio/soundsystem and screen. Is this necessary for the installation? Could you please make a video of how this works for Android? Thanks a lot!
Hi, I don't have an android device to test this out but indeed android auto only works with a cable. The audio will continue to play if you switch between the original interface and the new unit. It is indeed necessary to remove parts of the car to get to the screws for the unit itself.More on this in the next video. Thanks, The DIY Guys

Thank you for the guide! The seller replied to me about the sound issue with a fix, but I didn't really understand what to do. Can you also upload a video of how to fix it? He showed me pictures of some cables to disconnect and then connect something to the car Aux port.
@Nick Devlin Play anything in your iPhone and make sure the sound output is set to CarPlay in the iPhone sound control center. In the original Peugeot sound interface you should see the Aux input enabled at that point, it is enabled only if sound if coming thru. Select it, you should hear the music being played. Then switch to carplay interface and that’s it.
Hi, nice video. I am playing in my mind to purchase this to get carplay option. Is it possible to do a short video with iphone of daily usage eg. spotify playing, google maps using, calling, how to connect the phone: with usb cable or wirreless, if by cable is the factory input used or extra plug from the new unit ect. to fully understand the range of features and restrictions, thinks that are not working intuitive. This would be appriciated. Thanks
Hi. Thanks for your video. I have some questions. Can we connect a rear camera with wireless adaptators? Where we can connect the 12v input of the wireless receiver? For Android auto, can we connect the phone on the usb cable of the smeg or only on the usb cable of the careplay unit? Were we can place the usb cable of the carplay unit in the car?
Hi Maxime, It is possible to use a wireless system. You can connect the receiver to the fuse box that is under the steering wheel but I have not done it myself yet. for android auto it is necessary to use the cable from that unit, not from the car. We will show in the next video where to place the cable. Thanks, The DIY Guys

Sorry about the stupid question, thank you in advance.
I'm really loving this unit, it gives a second life to my old SMEG. The only "issue" is that to switch to AUX, you have to have sound going through otherwise you cannot select AUX at startup. With Android Auto, you can have it to resume music on connection so there will be sound input at startup therefore you can switch to AUX. I have also found that rather than switch to SMEG to then select AUX and switching to Android Auto, at startup of the car I hit SRC 4 times then press OK, this will switch automatically SMEG to AUX without actually switching to the SMEG. Has anyone got any good tip that they have found with it?

Hi, and thank you for your video. One question. Will my reverse camera still work after installing this module? I've heard about some issues about this not working properly 🤔
Does anyone know how I can get my original reverse camera working within Carplay? I have to switch back to the factory menu in order to make it work, in Carplay I don't see anything (hear the PDC sounds though). Changing to original camera in the settings of the module doesn't help.
Thanks a lot! After installation, do the buttons on either side of the screen still work as before? For example, can i still switch from Android Auto to climate control by pressing the button on the upper left? Thanks again!
Hi, It is indeed possible to toggle between the carplay and the original system with the 'plist button'. I uploaded the manual to google drive for you. This is the link: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kAKV_mmbCNAzpzAU9b0iAMY76mNd6Vmh?usp=sharing Thanks for watching!
The DIY guys Hi thanks for quick answer - I saw the same manual which I got from seller. That’s why I’m asking because inside there is no information about toggling the button plist Two more - 1.is there a specify manual with this “tool” inside the box ? I mean which cable should be in which plug? 2. If I have the original rear camer it will works normally? I mean if I choose “r” it will appear ? Or I need to comeback using the plist button to original menu?
Hi@@marcinerrful , 1. There is no manual inside the box. I did everything with the manual the seller gave me but the installation is pretty straightforward. Every cable is labeled with a small sticker to show you where the cable needs to go. 2. I think you will have to toggle back to the original car menu. The carplay unit chooses what is shown on the car display like a HDMI switch does on your TV (you can hear the click in the unit when you toggle it) so that means that everything that's shown on the original system is not shown when you are in carplay mode. If the original car camera has an RCA connector you can easily plug it in the carplay unit. If the camera is connected to the carplay unit it will always show, no matter in what mode you are because the carplay unit controls everything that's shown on the screen.
The DIY guys Thanks now all is clear - one more question, where did you put the CarPlay after putting back the radio to Orginal place ? did you hide it in the car glove box ? or in the gap between the cd reader and the display ?
marcinerrful The additional Carplay unit fits just right above the existing radio. Normally there is plenty of space to place it and the cables there. Hi Christian, this fits above the original radio unit behind the middle part. Normally the pressure of the cables will hold this in place. Thanks, The DIY Guys

Thank you so much for sharing! I can’t wait to see the nest video!
Hi Gil! thanks for the support!
I have received my unit and installed it, thanks to your video I was able to remove the parts easily.
my Peugeot 308 T9 2015 was fitted with a CD Player so I had to remove it completely to fit the Android Auto car unit, not a big deal as the Android Auto experience is much better anyway.
I had to remove the plastic underneath the steering wheel as I could not access the right hand side (right hand drie car) of the dashboard.
We’re so glad it worked! I hope you enjoy your carplay kit!

Hi guys, best video for install around. Would this unit be compatible with a 2014 2008? I understand install would be different of course.
yes it is
(sorry for my english, not good).
With the new software it also has wireless android auto,
something that mine did not support (although on the page where I bought it, they write that it supports it).
He gave me the software to install it on my own carplay as a new version. And that's where the problems started. I found that it had completely different settings.
I searched it and corrected the settings. Everything started working except the reversing camera. When I put the back gear on, the carplay crashes, and it needs
to restart to work again.I texted the seller and told him all this. The only answer I got was this:
"can not update , the hardware are different"
From that moment I sent them endless messages, both on the site and in the mail. Nobody answers me.
I beg them to help me, to tell me if there is any arrangement that will solve the problem. Or if the software is not for my own carplay
(this is the most likely, the 2 carplay have other differences other than optical), to send me the right software to solve the problem.
No response from the seller. I gave them good reviews and 5 stars (although some of what they advertised was not true:wireles android auto)
(even when they did not even have installation and operation instructions on the shipment and it took me a lot of messages to get them)
I advertised them in my country, I brought them customers who bought from them.
Do you solve the problem? Is it work with new firmware or not? Thanks

Greatful if sombody has any tips
I have also this problem! My car is 508.
Hi, no sound appears to be a common issue. Most of my experience is from AA use but I have had Carplay working on a test phone also.
A few things to check
Are you connecting USB in media transfer mode not just charge mode?
@Nikolas Baranoschi yes, i had to change settings, but for now it is working.

Hello, do you think it's possible to install carplay on Peugeot RCZ (retractable screen version) ?
Did you try ?
Can you make a video how to remove the middle part of this vehicle from A to Z, please? Thanks

I don't have an android device to test this out but indeed android auto only works with a cable.
The audio will continue to play if you switch between the original interface and the new unit.
It is indeed necessary to remove parts of the car to get to the screws for the unit itself.More on this in the next video.

@Nick Devlin Play anything in your iPhone and make sure the sound output is set to CarPlay in the iPhone sound control center.

Hi thanks for quick answer - I saw the same manual which I got from seller. That’s why I’m asking because inside there is no information about toggling the button plist
Two more -
1.is there a specify manual with this “tool” inside the box ?
You can also choose to fasten it to the radio with velcro tape. But make sure to out it on the front of the kit so you can still pull it out. When you put the tape on the back it will be difficult to get it out.
Hi, where can you buy those metal plates from to remove the radio cover?? I can't find anything online.
is there any lag between the sound playback?
Awsome Job! just got one question, where did you mount the carplay unit?
Hi Christian, this fits above the original radio unit behind the middle part. Normally the pressure of the cables will hold this in place. Thanks, The DIY Guys

More importantly: I have bought a back up/reverse camera and could do with seeing your installation video on that..
To be honest, I think that would prove to be a ‘very’ popular video because there’s absolutely‘nothing’ on the net of anyone installing one.
Thanks for your communication guys and keep up the good work 👍
@@louisbarthelon4061 To be honest, luckily I never removed the screen because I saw no reason to when I looked at the parts I had and the video.
Sorry you went through that process BUT the rest of the video was excellent, short and to the point. 👌
@@thegovnor1671 I have ordered this kit for my Peugeot 308 T9 2015. Thank you for your comment, it makes sense, the cable with the brown connector is unplugged from the screen but simply replugged in the video, I don understand why it has been removed. Once I get my unit, I will try not to remove the screen and see how I go.
Hi. Thanks for this. Are you in the UK? Can you do the installation?
No, we’re from Belgium.
Hello, could you help me find an updated firmware of the product from the video?
Witch CarPlay System have YOU bought ?
Hi there, is it possible to start Carplay when starting the car automatically or do you always have to manually start carplay by pressing the src button after start?
Yes there is an option in the setting menu
Just found out my 2014 308 cannot have nav updates would this kit be appropriate for my year or does it have to be a later 2015 onwards unit?
Va bene
Hi Guys!!!
i have a question. How do you connect the iphone to the system? Use BT or cable? where do you connect it?
Thanks!!!
Hi Alvaro, You can choose to connect your phone with bluetooth or with a usb cable. when you connect bluetooth it will automatically connect to the carplay via wifi. If you prefer a usb cable you will have to route the female usb that's included in the kit down so you can connect your phone cable. Thanks for watching!
Can you show how works with android Auto?
Hi @@alvarolatorre1311 , I made a quick video on how it looks like with android auto. Just connect it with usb or via bluetooth like you would with carplay and toggle to the carplay unit. This will start android car automatically.

@@alvarolatorre1311 Hola Álvaro, has tenido los problemas con el audio que describen por los comentarios de este video? Me podrías dar algún consejo extra? Muchas gracias de antemano.
Please tell me whether it is compatible with the renault 308 sw of 2015 active without navigator ?..........thank you
Hi, this is only for citroën or peugeot. Thanks, The DIY Guys
hello guys, I have to assemble the product you bought, disassemble it but you reconnect its originals? how do I connect the aux output? where did you place the module?
Hi Marco, We will show the audio fix in our next video of the rear view camera installation. It comes very soon. Sorry for the long waiting. Thanks, The DIY Guys
Tem como instalar câmera de vídeo?
Hello, it's possible to have te référence of thé carplay ?
Where can I buy this kit please. I have a 2017 308 which does not have apple play. However would like to have this function
Sam
Hi Sam, you can find the link to the kit we purchased in the discription of the video, it’s still up for sale on AliExpress. Thanks, The DIY Guys
Hello, I bought an interface on the link you described, installed it as in the video, but there is no sound
Can you explain to me what I can do to have sound?
Problem solved
So how did you solve it, planning to install it today so may have same issue
@@rolflemans peugeot 308sw you must go to the music settings menu, select the media and set the auxiliary amplification sound to weak or strong, do not forget to validate
All OEM Buttons works?
Anyone noticed you CAN mirror your iPhone’s screen using the mirroring feature? I thought it was only for Android... AWESOME.
How can you do that ??
Is this upgrade done by Peugeot officially as well or just by external parties ?
Just external parties
This is for 308 2016 year?
hello DIY guys 🙌🏻
does it have a german language option? & does carplay & mirror link only work with Android phones or also with iPhones?
greets
It works with iphone, and carplay is better you jave the options with cable and wireless
Thank you for the video. I have just installed the same kit but cannot connect phone for AA or CP via female USB provided (either USB1 or USB2). Managed to get Carplay working via wireless but I usually use Android, iPhone is work phone used for testing. USB lead detected USB stick so not sure lead is faulty? Any suggestions, settings etc I may have missed. Thank you.
I only got AA to work with Usb 1. It doesn't connect wireless it seems!? Is there a generic code for the WiFi that it creates? Pops up on the list of available networks..and still no sound option that works for my car... Did you get sound?
@@holejos I have asked vendor for advice regarding USB conection. Vendor previously said only 'some' Android phones can connect wireless AA. In the meantime I have enabled developer mode and USB debugging on the phone as stated in the manual but I will have to wait until morning to try it now. I think I did get sound when playing music from phone but had to turn the volume up very high to hear it. It would be unbearable on return to SMEG system at this level I think. I have got Carplay factory volume set to 30 in settings but will have to play around to see if I can get Carplay unit and SMEG unit volume comparable. Rushed install this afternoon but will have more time to play around tomorrow.
@@oligo33 Thanks for input. I will check this my self. I enabled debugging now to see if that allows the Wifi setup to happen. I have an Samsung S10 so should support Wireless AA?
@@holejos spent some more time on it this morning and AA now working from USB1. Vendor confirmed overnight manual was wrong saying USB2. USB developer/debugging may also have helped as I am sure I tried USB1 yesterday and it didn't work. Sound is fine just have to remember to switch to Aux in SMEG before activating Carplay unit otherwise you can still hear whatever was on SMEG when in Carplay mode. All tested working for nav voice, internet radio and Google assistant in-car. Not looked at wireless AA further but may have a play around at some point. Routed USB leads under steering wheel to side cubby where existing Peugeot USB is though I know this was removed from later models. More accessible there than in glovebox. Was looking at routing into armrest or centre cubby but too much work 🤣
@@oligo33 Temporary placed the usb ports 1 and 2 in the cubby as I how I won't need them when Wireless AA is fixed 🤣
Hi. Please tell me where did you put the USB cable?
in the tunnel car and out uf were is usb and aux
Hi, I have the cd, is the module behind the screen?
Hi Marco, the module is under the screen on top of the radio. If you have the access version of the peugeot 308 this installation will not work. You need the touch screen. Thanks, The DIY Guys
