Thanks for the detailed info. Some other videos showed the Gear console removal method which is a pain. Your method is sooo easy. Also removed the touch screen. Putting the head-unit back was a bit difficult due to design. Overall very happy. Thanks for this great video.
@@mazdatech_matt7338 but you won't be able to update the firmware if you remove the touch functions. Firmware update requires typing numbers to proceed.
@@bobmob1440 yes if your cmu is not up-to-date you will have to update it. I will be posting a short on how to access the back screen to perform cmu updates hopefully tomorrow. Thank you for watching!
Is there a way to turn on the touchscreen in a 2023 CX-5 ? It's the only year where they completely turned off the touch screen with no way to turn it on for Android Auto or CarPlay. I hate that dumb knob in AA. It's clunky and not intuitive. I find myself looking more at the screen trying to figure out where the cursor is highlighted. Android Auto was designed for a touchscreen. It's like using the arrow keys on a keyboard without a mouse in Windows.

I’ve done this same ribbon disconnection months ago and am installing CarPlay tomorrow props bro. Not many know this .
Awesome!
Watching from Kenya, not sure I have the guts to rip stuff apart and get my android auto going but I'll try. A 2017 CX5.
That's awesome glad the video could provide some confidence to diy it yourself! Thank you for watching!!
@@mazdatech_matt7338 definitely will try it! Thank you!!💯🖤
Hi....sammy from Nairobi here, did you manage to install the carplay?
Thanks for your Video! But I thought there was a Firmware Update that needs to be done First before doing all this??
@@johncarter591 short coming soon for this. Thank you for watching!
Obviously, the touch screen functions won't operational now, but all functions are accessible via the COMMAND knob on the center console.
@@timd1833 Correct. Most tend to use the command switch over the touch screen.

Great video. Thanks! For CarPlay do I need to do any update? If so how?

@@roberth3793 unfortunately they did away with the touchscreen option in the newer years.
