That's exactly what I use mine for -- retro on the go so I dont have to risk my "good" handhelds.
That's my plan. I got mine with a Miyoo-branded case too, which makes taking it around a lot easier. I have a PS Vita, 2DS, and Retroid Pocket 2+, but I spent over $100 on the Vita and Retroid each, and the 2DS was a gift. So I don't really wanna risk dropping them or losing them. Also don't really trust people not to try and steal my stuff if I'm out on a bus or something trying to play.
The Miyoo's small, and let's be honest, if you don't know anything about this stuff, the Miyoo also kinda looks like a cheap toy. I also have a case for it, and it wasn't a TON of money. So I'm not as worried about damaging it, losing it, or someone stealing it. It's something I can just throw in the case and take with me.
I bought the Miyoo Mini plus a couple of weeks ago and it's so adorable and entertaining to use, definitely a handheld I'll be using often under go

As long as you do not get a defective unit then it's definitely a phenomenal little device. The problem is so many of them have smaller issues, and a couple of them have bigger issues. Some examples include screens falling out, unresponsive buttons, triggers or D pad, bad speakers, or dead pixels. I have 5 of these ... 3 original mini and 2 mini +. 3/5 have small defects like subpar speaker, dead pixels, and hard press to respond buttons.

I have a Miyoo Mini+. I like it. Then I got an Anbernic RG350M and I like it so much better. It's not as new but it feels really good in the hands. The metal shell and the size and weight. All good.
I got the Miyoo as a Christmas gift from my wife. I have been playing it non stop when our son is asleep. I know that the SD card they give you is pretty damn cheap and can corrupt easily so I know i am going to end up buying another one with way more memory. Either 64GB or say eff it and get a 1TB

I just ordered mine for 33 quid on Ali as a welcome offer. I have an anbernic RG353M but I never want to take it out as I mainly use it as a console on the TV with my controllers so the miyoo will become my actual pocket device.
For mine the grey looks way better than the purple. It has a classic nostalgic look while the purple looks kinda cheap and tacky.
See, for me, the clear purple gives me nostalgia. I mean, so does the grey DMG colors, which is what my Retroid is colored like. But I had an Atomic Purple Game Boy Color as a kid, so the clear purple hits me right in the nostalgia. Only thing that'd give me more nostalgia would be a dull gold one since I also had a Pokemon Gold GBC as a kid (and still have it actually). I even made a border image to go around my GBC games that matches that GBC console.
Different people will get nostalgic over different things. I overheard some teens talking about nostalgia for the Xbox One the other day. Like, how?! I have that shit plugged in to my TV still and its only been a few years since the Series consoles released. I guess when your life consists of 13-14 years you get nostalgic for shit from 3-4 years ago.

I love the Miyoo Mini Plus but Retroarch is complicated and the shoulder buttons can be accidentally pressed easily. I use it for games from handheld systems.
retroarch isn't too bad if you just stick to the handful of important settings. what i don't like is many versions tend to have a bug where you can't save certain custom settings. it always feels stable but never completely ironed out

I wanted a miyoo mini but they were out of stock all the time so went for the rg35xx then the miyoo mini + came out and people say they are the same so no point in also buying it right?
Was gonna originally go for the rg35 but opted for the mini plus from aliexpress because I heard the dpad gets false inputs
They're nearly identical. Plays the same games, has the same amount of buttons, same basic shape, same size screens. The Miyoo is slightly shorter than the RG35XX. I've heard the D-Pad on the RG35XX can be a little iffy with it's inputs sometimes, where that's not really an issue on the Miyoo. Miyoo has OnionOS, the RG35XX has GarlicOs which is similar to Onion.
Miyoo has Wifi and no HDMI, while the RG35XX has HDMI but no Wifi. That's really the only major difference. So I'd say there's no point buying a Miyoo if you already have the RG35XX, unless you just really want one.
The rg35xx had os updates that honestly make it better than the miyoo. Check out retrogamecorps video on the update if you haven’t done it yet

theres places that will custom preload cards with latest firmware. you could probably get all the pokemon rom hacks included too
