I think the "danger?" Ones imitate the trope of "something rapidly moves among the darkness, you look around but cant pin down the creature. Finally you hear it behind a bush, you get close to examine it as the air gets tenser and tenser....only to find out the thing that made the sound was a harmless animal. You take a breath of relief, what a cute guy inside a deadly forest. But this is a mere distraction as the camera pans out and reveals the big monster behind you." This is why finding the danger? cards is a bad thing, while finding the Danger! cards is a good thing. Danger? Are distractions meant to let the big ones creep up on you, this is why Jackalope summons a Danger! monster when you find it. Because finding it lets the big guy catch you off guard.
My best guess is that they probably actually exist in real life. I mean, jacakalopes are real. They're just normal rabbits affected by some virus. Tsuchinokos might be real, too. Maybe they're just really elusive animals. Animals like the okapi were once thought as myths, too, but they're not. They're just really rare and elusive.
There is one amazing fact about the Tsuchinoko that you didn’t mention. They are said to roll up like a donut and roll away from danger on their sides. They would then unfurl to attack by acting as a battering ram
Thunderbird is actually seen as a god in many native american myths also great video I love cryptids I wonder if the weindego well be added or the kraken which was actually proven real

Fun fact about the thunderbird after researchers used the description of the animal and compared it with ancient creatures they found it was an exact match with the Argentavis a giant prehistoric bird. When I was about 6 years old I was staying at a house being babysat by a couple of 12 year olds that went to my boyscout club. My grandmother had to work late so she was gone past nightfall. Me and the two boys were playing super smash brothers (I think the first one) on a Nintendo game cube in a glassed off patio room that you could see most of the yard in. The house was in a clearing probably half a football field long in all directions in the middle of the woods, so seeing anything close to the house was easy and unmistakable. It was a full moon so it was bright outside. The boys decided to make some hotdogs for dinner for me since neither of our guardians had come back home. Before they left the room, they informed me that they had seen a creature in the woods before, and that they never told me before because they’d only see it at night and I’ve never stayed late enough for me to need to worry about it. They said if I ever saw anything, to hide and call their names right away. I told them ok and went back to playing smash bros. About 5 minutes later I heard a loud thud in the yard, and when I looked out there was a tall creature with huge, bright yellow eyes in the middle of the field between the house and the forest. I froze up in fear, and the creature slowly made its way towards the door. The creek of the screen door opening finally snapped me out of my paralysis and I grabbed the nearest pillow, covered my face, and screamed for the boys. The screen door quickly closed and seconds later I could hear the boys rushing down stairs to see what had happened. When I took the pillow away from my face the thing was gone. I know I didn’t imagine it because I’ve been scared of the dark, I never imagined monsters in the closet or creatures in the woods, my real fear was of the darkness itself. That was and has been the only time I had ever truly ever seen something comparable to monsters from a kid’s imagination. I know for a fact it wasn’t the boys pulling a prank on me because they came rushing down from the stairs seconds after the creature let go of the door, which wasn’t enough time for the boys to sneak through a window to get back inside. Ever since that day I’ve always believed in the paranormal. That being said I like these cards a lot and would really like to build a deck based on them
The question mark in the lvl 3 monsters are because those two are less "proven" to possibly exist and are more chalked up to hallucinations. The Jackalope is mostly thought to only be seen when hallucinating or drunk and the Tsuchinoko is also thought to be some trick of the eyes. All the other dangers have some kind of photo/video "proof" of its existence.
