Um just wanted to clarify Mecha godzila 1 was made by space apes, Mecha Godzilla 2 was made from the remains of Mecha King ghidorah which itself was future tech and when Mecha G2 was destoried it was reperposed into Mogeara for G vs SG, mecha dogaran seems to get its ability from mecha godzilla 3 or kiryu who was made from the bones so the bot itself could use a DNA computer as a simple AI
One more thing about Dogoran. One of the Godzilla movies is titled "Destroy all Monsters" making the effect of " *destroy all monsters* your opponent controls." even more fitting.

The Kaiju Archtype is one of my faves, it's great when my friends do all this fancy card Trickery to summon their Uber monster and then I tribute it and give them my Giant spider while I summon King Ghidorah and destroy the monster instantly lol
If your opponent allows you to activate Thunder King’s effect then they deserve to lose all their monster. Frankly, if some one tries that in my, I’ll use the spider’s effect to negate his effect upon special summoning.

Just a quick fact check Gadarla is actually based on Battra, Mothra’s “brother” as he has the same ability’s as Mothra’s but has the more sharp design, but Gadarla color scheme might be based off both.

This includes Mecha Hero: Gearstrix, Mecha Hero: Sparkplug Guy, Mecha Hero: MercurDude, Mecha Hero: Viscous Oil Robo Fighter, and his ace Cyber Hero: Justice Yubel which is Yubel but is a light attribute and instead of the normal color scheme, its Neos' Color scheme and has a large jet wings instead of bat wings.

I just ended up in a rather awkward duel in Master Duel where my opponent using a Blue Eyes deck thoroughly bricked, and I with my Kaiju deck could only sit there and do nothing. Kinda difficult to play these guys if the opponent never plays a monster for you to tribute.

I’m a big fan of kaiju movies, especially Godzilla (I’ve seen 20 of his films so far). So when I was playing “Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the duelist: Link Evolution” and open up one of the card packs and saw a card called “The Kaiju Files” my reaction was this “Wait a min…there are kaiju cards?!” My face was lit up like it was Christmas and I immediately looked up a deck list and started building my own kaiju deck, both irl and in the game lol
I ALWAYS mess up the Kaiju counters. I either need to just remove the counter cards from my deck or get good. I keep forgetting the opponent can activate the counters as well!!!
Fun fact: if you use "Remove Brainwashing" with this deck, the monsters you summoned on your opponents field come back over onto yours, essentially allowing you to have more than one Kaiju. (I think anyways on that last part, don't quote me.) And if that doesn't work, just combo it with "Skill Drain." 🗿
UPDATE: A mecha version of Thunder King was made, known as “Super Anti-Kaiju War Machine Mecha-Thunder-King”. It is a Level 9 LIGHT Machine monster, with 2200 ATK and 2100 DEF. It’s effect is: “During the Main Phase (Quick Effect): You can discard this card; banish 1 "Kaiju" monster you control that is owned by your opponent, then, you can Special Summon 1 monster from your GY. You can only control 1 "Kaiju" monster. This card is unaffected by other "Kaiju" cards' effects, also it cannot be destroyed by battle with a "Kaiju" monster. During your End Phase, if this card is in your GY: You can Special Summon this card. You can only use this effect of "Super Anti-Kaiju War Machine Mecha-Thunder-King" once per Duel.”
One small correction, MechaGodzilla 2 was built from the remains of Mecha-King Ghidora. The MechaGodzilla that was build from the skeleton of the OG Godzilla was Kiryu which showed up in Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla and Godzilla Tokyo SOS. Loved the video and I love the Kaiju Archetype :-)

I always saw Mecha Dogoran being more of a reference to the Kiryu version of Mechagodzilla, since that is the one that was built from the bones of the original Godzilla
I always thought that Dogoran was based far more on Rodan. Obviously it draws inspiration from both, but the whole flying fire breathing thing is way more Rodan than Godzilla.
But they never actually show it flying. Sure, it has wings, but we never see it in the air. Also, the fact that there's a mecha version is pretty strong evidence in favor of Godzilla, as is the fire exploding out of its body.
Believe it or not, when I was watching the video just now, the part talking about Gadarla's artwork had a UA-cam ad for Swiffer interrupt. In fact, just before you could say the word dust, the ad said "Dust from the floor can become airborne".
One quick note on the Card based of off MechaGodzilla. (No im not gonna type out the full name) Its actually based off of Kiryu, or more specifically the third version of MG.

They aren't kaiju, they're mecha, or giant robots. The main difference between mecha and mechanical kaiju is generally that mecha are almost always humanoid in shape, and are also almost always directly piloted by someone, while mechanical Kairi generally have a monstrous appearance and are also generally on some form of autopilot or remote control. There are of course exceptions on both sides, so the real difference is just semantics and usually genres. But Pacific rims mecha aren't really kaiju, there are a group of mecha that basically are, that being the EVAs from Evangelion, which are literally manmade versions of the Kaine type enemies fought in that series, with them being less giant robot and more giant armored monster that can be controlled by a pilot. Look up what a berserk EVA looks like and you'll see it right away.

I dont know if anyone else is gonna remember this, but bringing up mechanized characters reminded me of an episode of Batman TAS where Batman had to fight a robot version of himself, UI must have watched this episode on VHS at least a dozen times as a kid and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

The way I think of a pure Kaiju deck:
"You're not fighting me with your deck - you're fighting me with MY deck."
It's especially true since the opponent can use your Kaiju Counters against you.

You could possibly summon your own small monster and nuke it with Interrupted Slumber.
There are cards you can play to Summon tokens to their side (Ojama Trio is an example).

I’m a big fan of kaiju movies, especially Godzilla (I’ve seen 20 of his films so far). So when I was playing “Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the duelist: Link Evolution” and open up one of the card packs and saw a card called “The Kaiju Files” my reaction was this “Wait a min…there are kaiju cards?!” My face was lit up like it was Christmas and I immediately looked up a deck list and started building my own kaiju deck, both irl and in the game lol

I ALWAYS mess up the Kaiju counters. I either need to just remove the counter cards from my deck or get good. I keep forgetting the opponent can activate the counters as well!!!
Fun fact: if you use "Remove Brainwashing" with this deck, the monsters you summoned on your opponents field come back over onto yours, essentially allowing you to have more than one Kaiju.
(I think anyways on that last part, don't quote me.)
And if that doesn't work, just combo it with "Skill Drain." 🗿

MechaMew2 from the Pokémon Musical Stageshow was pretty iconic and was a practical prop that was 10x7x8 feet and weighing over 2 tonnes.

UPDATE: A mecha version of Thunder King was made, known as “Super Anti-Kaiju War Machine Mecha-Thunder-King”. It is a Level 9 LIGHT Machine monster, with 2200 ATK and 2100 DEF. It’s effect is: “During the Main Phase (Quick Effect): You can discard this card; banish 1 "Kaiju" monster you control that is owned by your opponent, then, you can Special Summon 1 monster from your GY. You can only control 1 "Kaiju" monster. This card is unaffected by other "Kaiju" cards' effects, also it cannot be destroyed by battle with a "Kaiju" monster. During your End Phase, if this card is in your GY: You can Special Summon this card. You can only use this effect of "Super Anti-Kaiju War Machine Mecha-Thunder-King" once per Duel.”

One small correction, MechaGodzilla 2 was built from the remains of Mecha-King Ghidora. The MechaGodzilla that was build from the skeleton of the OG Godzilla was Kiryu which showed up in Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla and Godzilla Tokyo SOS. Loved the video and I love the Kaiju Archetype :-)

The design of those Kaiju Monster are cool and monsterous. In Design...Gamaciel,Dogoran,Jizukiru and Thunder King have the best monster design.
I always wondered what Radian was based off of. Being apart of the Ultraman fan community, the explanation makes sense. Good job and keep up the good work. Could you do one of these on Phantom knights?
I always saw Mecha Dogoran being more of a reference to the Kiryu version of Mechagodzilla, since that is the one that was built from the bones of the original Godzilla

I always thought that Dogoran was based far more on Rodan. Obviously it draws inspiration from both, but the whole flying fire breathing thing is way more Rodan than Godzilla.
But they never actually show it flying. Sure, it has wings, but we never see it in the air. Also, the fact that there's a mecha version is pretty strong evidence in favor of Godzilla, as is the fire exploding out of its body.
Also Dogoran is the face card of the kaiju archetype, the face card HAS to be Godzilla

after watching the king kong vs godzilla trailer i realise that there should be a kaiju card designed inspired by king kong
Believe it or not, when I was watching the video just now, the part talking about Gadarla's artwork had a UA-cam ad for Swiffer interrupt. In fact, just before you could say the word dust, the ad said "Dust from the floor can become airborne".
One quick note on the Card based of off MechaGodzilla. (No im not gonna type out the full name) Its actually based off of Kiryu, or more specifically the third version of MG.

10:15 small correction to make (thought i doubt youd care at this point). While it's true the equip effect can reference super mechagodzilla in terms of it combining with the garuda, the bones aspect is actually a reference to the later built type-3 kiryu varient of mechagodzilla used in tokyo sos

A mistake with Mecha Dogaran: he CANNOT Lava golem an enemy monster. He only has the second half of the Kaijuu effect.

Mecha-Dogoran is actually based on the third MechaGodzilla Kiryu, which was the version that was built on the original Godzilla’s corpse with the Super MechaGodzilla as described in the video being built from the corpse of Mecha-King Ghidorah, so I guess the graveyard effect still sticks, either way I just wanted to point that out

Interrupted Kaiju Slumber is said to be based on Pacific Rim.
They aren't kaiju, they're mecha, or giant robots. The main difference between mecha and mechanical kaiju is generally that mecha are almost always humanoid in shape, and are also almost always directly piloted by someone, while mechanical Kairi generally have a monstrous appearance and are also generally on some form of autopilot or remote control. There are of course exceptions on both sides, so the real difference is just semantics and usually genres. But Pacific rims mecha aren't really kaiju, there are a group of mecha that basically are, that being the EVAs from Evangelion, which are literally manmade versions of the Kaine type enemies fought in that series, with them being less giant robot and more giant armored monster that can be controlled by a pilot. Look up what a berserk EVA looks like and you'll see it right away.
I kind of want an ape Kaiju monster, that could be the only Kaiju to be on the field with another one.

I dont know if anyone else is gonna remember this, but bringing up mechanized characters reminded me of an episode of Batman TAS where Batman had to fight a robot version of himself, UI must have watched this episode on VHS at least a dozen times as a kid and thought it was the coolest thing ever.
