Here are the clues for this year's films: 1 - Classic influential horror fave that was one of the first films Exhumed screened. (Remember - we get a list to play along, and run times) 2 - Earnest adaptation of a minor work by a literary horror giant. 3 - Old school GOLDEN AGE horror sequel featuring one of our favourite horror icons in his second best role. 4 - Sleazy perverse gruesome horror trash 5 - Surreal dark fantasy from the director's own 35mm print 6 - rarely shown giant(ish) monster movie that we can't believe we finally found in 35MM 7 - Early giallo from a master of the genre 8 - Oddball/grossout Hong Kong horror smut 9 - Clever underseen British horror/mystery movie (but it's NOT A FUCKING MYSTERY - Davy) 10 - Monster movie and martial arts mash up mayhem 11 - Low budget scifi creature feature from the king of low budget 12 - Stylish somewhat forgotten 80s horror comedy 13 - Horror anthology with some clever meta stunt casting 14 - Intelligent unsettling suspense thriller 15 - Fun later era horror/action film from a legendary genre director
The Horror-Thon was amazing this year...and I got to meet Chris and Craig! Thanks, guys for being so gracious!! Trying to post the pic, but I can't figure out how. Oh well. See you next year, guys!!
I love, even if they only got 5 out of 15, that Davey shows the thought process into each pick and how you can throw so many out the window. As someone who loves Sherlock Holmes, hearing about "deductions" was cool. Though it sounds like someone getting 7 or 8 like the winner on stage did must have inside info if so many of these clues are far too vague.
Indeed - Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth. If only ALL the clues adhered to the sleuthing deduction method!
Enjoy folks - to reiterate we get the list of films shown previously and can see runtimes. So we know a 65min film is probably a Universal or RKO etc, wheras anything over 90mins isn't a Hammer etc. Clues are up above and as with last year....some are easy if you deduce the key words and some are just impossible. So if you want to play along, I've typed the clues out and Pete has pinned them for you. Pause as we go.
I’ve just downloaded this and am looking forward to the quiz. Shame it clashed with Pete’s holiday but there’s always next year. I always greatly enjoy The Monster’s Den, cheers guys.
Bros, I was so proud thinking I got "Son of Frankenstein," then the madmen showed "Ghost of Frankenstein" instead? "Black Sunday" and "Silver Bullet" is a good opening two-fer, though.
Davey - Se7en is a New Line Cinema film not a Disney film. Entertainment Film Distributors release the film theatrically in UK cinemas, and Entertainment in Video released it on VHS. My memories of horror movies are sketchy at times, but for some bizarre reason, distributors, and release dates are hardwired in to my brain.
I completely disagree with Chris on "Buio Omega". Great fun remake. The original "The Third Eye" starring Franco Nero,is great too. Do a CAT III films episode. Thanks.
This time we didn’t drink beers in the theater during the movies (I made that mistake a few years ago) but we left and had a couple while Paperhouse played.
The CLUES need to be better! They're far too "general"/vague. And I don't mean anything obvious, but Exhumed should at least give people a chance to make a decent, logical guess...and make it fun. i.e. say, with "VAMP," they should've made some stray reference to Grace Jones, or said "ultra colorful" With "PROPHECY" (my first ever date film at 13 years old) maybe a vague reference to Talia Shire, or some word that relates to a sleeping bag. *I'm slightly surprised that you guys had never heard of "Paperhouse" and "Buried Alive" (aka Buio Omega, Beyond The Darkness) etc. I mean, you're not too young. Your age is similar to mine. And I'm sure you guys liked horror films back then. I mean, I've never seen "Paperhouse" myself, but I had the opportunity several times, by way of video rental shops, cable TV, etc. back then. And "Buried Alive" is one of those notorious, violent, perverted, depressingly gruesome phillums that...most of us know....right? Funny thing here. I've owned "SEEDING OF A GHOST" on DVD for like 15-20 years, and I just haven't got 'round to watching it. Alo's description makes me want to slap that one in later today! Marc ⚡
I've seen Paperhouse and talked about it a little. But it has had plenty of UK showings being a British made film so a bit more of an advantage over the guys there.
@DavysFlicks Oh, yeah, I understand, Davy. And I really should've pointed out who I was talking to there. I think you are (obviously) the only one there who does know Paperhouse. Plus possibly Jamie? Anyway, I'm from New Jersey, and I'm going off what I would see back then in the video stores, cable TV, movie channels, you know. Then again though, I am a more eclectic film fan. Although horror, suspense and cult is my big main thing, being a 70s enthusiast, I would also go into other sections at the video store as well. So, okay, "Paperhouse" might've been placed in... maybe the drama section as well. No matter, it would appear on the movie channels and at stray times on TV as well. "Buried Alive" I knew from renting it...and being tragically scarred from it too. M
@@craigkaminski Oh, no Craig, I wasn't busting on you for anything to do with the clues. As I said, those clues need to be better! They're far too vague and generalized for guessing to be fun. "Buried Alive" IS Buio Omega (aka Beyond The Darkness). I should've clarified...I "rented it" under that title, "Buried Alive" back in the early 90s. And you and Chris are FAR from shmoes. Be serious here, Alo is a living factory of horror and sleaze, and you know your shit pretty well too! This is why I was surprised that you guys didn't know those two flicks.
@@craigkaminski p.s. Oh, wait. Are you saying that YOU made up those clues? I figured that Exhumed made them up for the sheet. And I'm still thinking that IS the case. But from how you responded there, I feel slightly confused about it. So....I guess, if you did make them up, then right, they need to be better, with a few extra details connections. Ya know though, I remember last year's show and those clues were just as bad. Totally vague and generalized. So I'm thinking that I am right in that EXHUMED made the clues. And that THEY should improve them.
Happy Halloween, SOT Gang!!! Had some spooky fun today, just got home & enjoyed watching this engaging episode. TY TMD!!! Cheers! I like puzzle and mystery question trivia stuff. Maybe you guys can generate another themed trivia type episode for amongst yourselves and/or viewers. That could be very good. Themes is a good way to go because you can do multiple episodes, each based on a different concept or sub-genre. Prophecy will always have a special place in my oozy rumpled mutant heart.

6 - rarely shown giant(ish) monster movie that we can't believe we finally found in 35MM
7 - Early giallo from a master of the genre
8 - Oddball/grossout Hong Kong horror smut
9 - Clever underseen British horror/mystery movie (but it's NOT A FUCKING MYSTERY - Davy)
10 - Monster movie and martial arts mash up mayhem
11 - Low budget scifi creature feature from the king of low budget
12 - Stylish somewhat forgotten 80s horror comedy
13 - Horror anthology with some clever meta stunt casting
14 - Intelligent unsettling suspense thriller
15 - Fun later era horror/action film from a legendary genre director
Davey is the GOAT of not just horror but film. What an asset to SOT.
Davy. / you are absolutely the man. Your knowledge is mind boggling. Thanks guys for your time 👍💯
thanks my man!
I think Davy has a wikapedia chip in his head, you're right ,his horror knowledge is remarkable.
He’s a 300 year old vampire!!..you’re not fooling me Davy!! 🧛🏻✝️
Great discussion !

Watching Davy's thought process is fascinating. The man bleeds horror.
Yep, that's my favorite part - the deductions. Also losing his shit over that Hammer that wasn't a mystery! LOL

Just to let you know I love Nigel Neale’s ‘Beasts’ TV series and I did watch ‘Murrain', again, excellent!
Man! You guys had some really good deductive picks!👊👹
I’ve just downloaded this and am looking forward to the quiz. Shame it clashed with Pete’s holiday but there’s always next year. I always greatly enjoy The Monster’s Den, cheers guys.
Great to see the king Alo make an appearance 👏
This quiz shows who really knows movies and who has the homework to do!
I saw Prophecy as a kid at the drive-in theatre with my parents as a double feature with The Swamp Thing.
Cool!!
Bros, I was so proud thinking I got "Son of Frankenstein," then the madmen showed "Ghost of Frankenstein" instead?
"Black Sunday" and "Silver Bullet" is a good opening two-fer, though.
Really cool and fun! Good job boys!
Me? Oh, I watched the horror show that is the NY Jets🤷
The Horror was the Texans offense. Funny Joke though😂
I recently watched "Seeding of a Ghost" . What a crazy, over the top flick. Completely bananas.
I'm sad because I had bronchitis and had to leave early this year. It's something I look forward to every year.
Silver Bullet is a classic.Megan Follows grew up smoking hot.

You need to bring several 300 mg caffeine Bucked Up energy drinks instead of drinking beers.
This time we didn’t drink beers in the theater during the movies (I made that mistake a few years ago) but we left and had a couple while Paperhouse played.
I don't do caffeine, so no...
