- Sailing in Great Britain, along the south coast, past those iconic white cliffs which form the edge of this great island nation, one can't help but be captivated by this countries beauty, this tiny, yet mighty nations fascinating past is awe inspiring.
This video was uploaded on remembrance Sunday, here in the United Kingdom.

As one who has served Queen and Country and home and abroad...... Thank you for reminding folks that those that have been before, who made the ultimate sacrifice, from all nations, creeds, colors and beliefs should be honoured, and remembered. Lest we forget....... Ant. Sail Safe Guys, Ant, Cid & the pooch crew.
So as well as saying thank you for the videos that you make, which (probably unlike ours) actually have some serious value for the rest of us a-mechanical boat newbs, I also get to say thank you for your service, Sir! 🍻⛵️
Lest We Forget... Thank you for those words of remembrance to those who have given so much over the decades. As a veteran myself, I was deeply touched by your opening words. Your episode aired here on November 11th which of course is Veterans Day in the US. And it seems very appropriate to remember how our two countries have joined together in times of great need. Again thank you for the sentiment, keep up the great work, and I look forward to all your videos to come. Be safe
Joseph. Good points well made sir! Sail Safe mate. Ant, Cid & the pooch crew.
wow, it was nov.11th here in canada too, amazing :-) i almost shut you off when i saw that jacket. good music though. Lest We Forget.
We owe it to those who are prepared to sacrifice so much to maintain our way of life. We (I) shall never forget. 🙏🏻
Sailed away from the UK in 1986 and still. Going, currently on the south coast of australia don't get home sick very often but watching this did bring a bit of a tear to my 72 year old eyes
Your channel is my absolute favorite sailing channel. I look forward to seeing every post. What I particularly like is that you don't have a schedule or need to hit a particular length. Your videos are driven by content and story telling, a rare thing in amateur UA-camrs. Anyway, well done once again.
Great to see you wearing a jacket and poppy. Very respectful and much appreciated.
Always. I was actually upset when I realised I didn't have any ties onboard, I have put them all into storage. 😔
I just love the perspective of this video! Every generation has made a sacrifice and it's time, for this generation, to step up! ❤️
Thank you CaDoHa crew. I have watched your journey from the start. Very inspiring. As a former Royal Navy Officer and inhabitant of the Isle of Wight it has been wonderful to see the old stomping ground from the sea again. Having had the privilege of serving in Royal Navy ships as the Navigator I can assure you the principles of ship handling and navigation are the same worldwide and irrespective of type of vessel. It is wonderful to see a young couple set off on such a great adventure. P.S. Thanks for remembering.
To clean out your diesel tank, drain down 90% of the contents then take off the Vetus multi pipe fitting on the top of the tank. That gives you a 3 inch round hole to feed a wet vacuum pipe in and down to the bottom of the tank. Vacuum out the the dregs and flush with some clean diesel. Second tip, a Warrior is supposed to be a cutter rig. The second foresail gives you so much extra flexibility and additional power up wind.
Dom, the feelings that flow from your heart to your mouth are respectful, considerate, precious and tender. We should NEVER forget those that went and gave all so we could live as we do today. I pray the generations ahead are taught about the Great Generation. If so, many will reflect as you have on this day.
On another note (😂) , your ability to marry the man sic with the moment is something to behold.
As we say in the USN,” Fair seas and following wind”.
That's very kind of you to say. As with everything which I find more magnificent as I age, I only hope that I do an ok job of conveying it without tripping over my words too much 😬🙏🏻🍻
What a superb intro- you are a class act. Re the water pump put a wee mirror underneath the pump casting and there should be a witness hole whose purpose is to ‘bear witness’ to a seal failure. You can buy parts to repair or a replacement pump - but if you have deep pockets do both and keep the repaired unit as a spare.
I do not want to be a smart arse but I posted the following comment to your first experience of this problem (2 months ago+) and it still stands: Quote “Your priority should now be a fuel tank clean (rather than just a ‘polish’). Practically it is a difficult (access), disruptive and smelly job but if you do not do it - it will bite yer arse particularly if you cross the Bay of Biscay when you stand a better than even chance of experiencing more than just bobbing about a wee bit. Anyhoo - well done you should be proud of yourself. BTW knocking up a polishing rig ( see Patrick Laine’s YT channel) is very well worth doing and is a great routine maintenance procedure to keep things sweet - it will not clean snotty detritus from a tank surface though - must clean that tank! 😀👍⛵️Unquote.
As mentioned by one of the other commenters (David John) - subcontract it to a specialist, it is not a pleasant task.
You have consistently produced top quality productions - your talents are wasted.😀👍⛵️
Appreciate that, Norman, maybe a spare isn't the worst idea ever. Seeing as it's a Perkins engine (Volvo Penta D2-55) I may see if we can find an aftermarket spare for the fraction of the price that Volvo would want for an 'original part' to have locked away for a rainy day.
We also never intended to forget about the fuel, and we listened to everyone about how much of a problem this would be and had every intention of it being top of the winter jobs list! 🍻⛵️
Reminds me of my first two seasons of owning my boat. Felt like the majority of times I went out I was fixing something. By my third year, maintenance did calm down and become more predictable and in many ways its a vital passage to learning your boat. Thanks for the video..
Your videos are beautiful as always ! It's always a pleasure to watch them. I think later tonight I'm going to watch once again some of your past videos. They really are enjoyable.
A very good shot of your helmswoman. Ever wonder about those small boats that crossed the channel to Dunkirk? Lest we forget...
I regularly think about those boats, although I never imagined they'd be quite as small as these chaps vessel. 😳
I think you've found your calling; storytelling! Just fantastic work and wonderful watching an average couple embark on this adventure. Thank you for taking us along with you. Without doubt, the most entertaining sailing channel to date. 13:20 - Epic, huge smile watching. Cheers from currently frozen Canada.
Yours has become one of my favorite sailing vlogs
Great video as always. You just keep pushing my dreams of owning a sailboat alive. Thank you!!
I had the same problem with my fuel tank. I solved it by getting a long copper pipe with a jet on the end and connecting it to the output of a fuel transfer pump connect the input of the pump to one or more CAV fuel filters. Connect the input of the fuel filter to your fuel outlet on the tank. Now shove the copper pipe with the jet on the end into the fuel filler pipe, turn on the pump and diesel will flow from the tank, through the filter, through the pump and be jetted back into the tank. Move the jet all around to stir up the crap on the bottom. Change the CAV filter each time it starts to get clogged. Keep going until the filters are clear. It works and you don’t have to empty your tank.
That actually sounds like a great idea! It's tricky to get into both our tanks but we've started making a plan now, just need to wait for lockdown to finish to get started.
Another brilliant video, thanks guys... I had a raw water pump leak last year. There's like a vent hole just behind it and the water just dribble out whenever the engine ran... It didn't cause any issues with the engine and I ran it like that for the rest of the season. Turned out to be just a seal which you can get with the impeller service kit
Lovely episode again, great atmospheric music👌Great coastline, Arne is worth a visit, lovely for walking Hank😁
It really is! Looking forward to taking Hank on many more exception coastal walks 😁
I really love you guys, you have our sense of humour and you pamper your dog like he’s the king of all dogs! Just like our queen! 😂 brilliant. Gorgeous Hank!
Hold on a second, are you suggesting Hank is not in fact the King of ALL dogs?!
Wash your mouth out, Vix! 😳😳
I joke, I joke......
No, but really, he is the King 😬
@@CadohaAdventures Ha ha.. would I dare? ha ha. He is certainly the King of all dogs.. What a guy!
Oh the joys of having a sailing vessel ! Seems work is continuous, good luck, Fair winds and stay safe
The 'to do' list certainly seems never ending.
Clever way of sharing a fab track for the sailing scene. ☺⚓
Water leak. Unless you can see it for sure... taste it. I had a persistent issue and 'fixed' loads of issues (engine, hatch, window, faucet) with no success. One day arrived on Aspire which stank to high heaven. The milk spilt in the cooler last time out had got to the bilges through the leaky cooler drain. Wasn't rain water, wasn't coolant, wasn't salty, was cheesy! The 'leak' was actually the bag of ice that we always carried (in case of sprains, bruises etc) and just let drain away as it gradually melted over the weekend. The drain pipe was pretty much inaccessible.
Everyone always tells us to taste the bilge water, which gives me the shivers just thinking about it, but makes perfect sense when you think about it!
Once again you guys hit the nail right on the head. Be safe and look after yourselves. Reg
Hey guys another great video! camera work and music always top notch! I loved Carly face when she just woke up and your asking her about taking Hank for walk. It was like "Do I look like I am ready to take Hank for a walk, I'm still sleeping!" Love you guys! Be safe! Cheers!
Well done. ‘Parking’ in the dark is a great achievement!
I have sailed in and around Pool harbor many times. My Dads favorite place was round the southwest side of Brownsea Island there is a channel marker that had a sign on it that said “ A Quiet place”.
Thanks for another great video and remembering!
All the best Richard
very noble of you in the beginning and end of your vlog, which aired on the 11th here in the USA. enjoy your videos
If you have an inspection port you can drain and steam clean the tank -it worked for me. I then always used diesel treatment biocide to stop the BUG coming back and never had another problem with it.
Lovely score!
Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it 😁⛵️
Well done Carly on Leaving the dock well executed 👍😁
Great work again guys. Brilliant aerial photography - not easy on the hoof, I'd say. There's lovely beaches just on the outside of Poole harbour at Studland - worth a stop if you can spare the time. Also, you should try to visit Brownsea Island whilst you're in that neck of the woods. It's brilliant seeing the Dorset coast - fond memories of growing up not a million miles away - several moons ago! Take care and keep up the adventures. I hope your winter chore list doesn't expand too much.
I had Warrior hull no. 39 1986 vintage. She had only 40 Imperial gallons of fuel and as I wanted to travel on long passages, I converted one of the water tanks to diesel and added another 40 gallon fuel tank under the chart table, giving 100 gallons total capacity. In the space where the original tank was placed, I put a Northern Lights 3.5 Kw generator then installed a water-maker that produced 21 imperial gallons of water in the starboard aft cabin. I then had easy access to inspect the fuel tanks. I hope this will give you food for thought for future possibilities for extended travels. Go well.
By now you have been told that your small water leak is from the shaft seals inside the pump. They wear out over time and are a routine maintenance item. My suggestion is to schedule, in advance, a rebuild with a reputable shop along your route.
And ask if they have or can acquire a rebuilt pump that they will certify.
Put on the new (to you) pump then pick up the old, rebuilt pump and keep it for the next time.
Yes we're looking into the price of a new water pump and refurbishing the old one as a spare. Nice to have back ups at hand when we're nowhere near shops 🤞🏼
Great episode. Respect for your remembrance and bringing things into perspective. Nice one guys 👍🏻😊
The older I get the more I appreciate the brave men and women who are prepared to fight to maintain our way of life, be that military, or the thin blue line!
Hope you're keeping well. 🍻
Great intro guys! Thank you!
Lovely video lovely thoughts
Brilliant sailing and thoughtful video. We love Hank too, quite a character! Keep up the super work. Steve & Tamsyn. A boating couple from Yarmouth.
Thank you! Will do! 🙏🏻⛵️
Another great video -thankyou :)
Thanks, Mike, glad you're enjoying the videos 😬
Nice one guys. Poole is a nice place to be. Moored right next to the IMOCA of Pip Hare which is as we speak on its way around the globe in the Vendee. I guess one way to try and fix the fuel issue is for you to make your own fuel polishing set up. Patrick Laine did a good video on this and there are others on UA-cam. Andy UK
We're so gutted that we didn't even realise the sailing royalty we were moored next to until after we had left. So gutted, as it would have been awesome to say hello, although she looked super busy getting her boat ready and she probably didn't have time to chin wag to us mere mortals.
Always look forward to seeing your vlog. Keep up the good work.
thank you.
Very nice guys. Great video and a nice sail, huh? Love your channel. Hope you get the engine leak thing worked out fast. Thanks for taking me along here from Lake Palestine, TX.
Hi we spoke about the fuel issue some weeks back as I said the problem will persist if no in depth work is done to put it to bed. don't worry there are options to deal with this problem internet search for products, the first job is to remove the crap what is sitting at the base this is the main problem and the first to deal with only then will you find some sealer to match your tank. yes i no this a crap deal but when its complete you will save lots of money on filters and have a good giggle about the time you had fuel problems, or may be not.
also remember the yacht designer's of that era started with a fuel tank and then built a boat around it. be safe and your both doing great well done. regards Jeff
We have spent a reasonable amount on filters so far this year, that's for sure, but we're hell bent on tackling the issue this winter and I think we have a pretty good looking plan of attack all set up now, I think... 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻⛵️
21:20 I think that’s pip hare’s boat medalia :) So cool. Hope you saw her somewhere on the pontoon. Super nice person.
We did see her, she looked super busy getting her boat ready and had a team of people on board helping her. We didn't know who she was at the time, but have been following her ever since we found out. She's a legend, and I can't believe she's sailing that boat single handed!
@@CadohaAdventures she is such a legend. Oldest boat in the Vendee fleet and she’s sitting 17th. So proud.
Great video as always. You’re sailing areas I know well, but you’ve absolutely brought them to life and I’ve really enjoyed your perspective. Looking forward to your next instalment and hope you got your water pump leak sorted without dramas!
Thanks guys!
Our pleasure, Trev. Hope you're keeping well 🍻⛵️🙏🏻
Fab Vlog guys.... I flew my Ensign today too For my Grandad . Miss that guy so much... Take care you three and Sheepy :)
Hopefully most of us had a moment of thought for our grandparents and their parents generation this week. 🍻🍻⛵️
Once again wonderful camera work and accompanying music. Last week I posted on your great vlog about Peter of Sailing into Freedom, who saw his mast hit by lightening blowing a hole in the hull and wiping out his electrics. I hope you two have made sure you have a handle on grounding masts Etc...stay safe⛵️⛵️
Thank you for not forgetting. Went to the cemetery today to put flowers on the grave of a soldier who was killed at Pearl Harbor. I didn't know him or his family but I could see no one visits his grave. Perhaps all of his family is gone. So, I've adopted him and make sure every holiday there are flowers and today I went to the Veterans and got a new fresh flag. I get really angry when I ask children particularly what today is and all they know is it's a holiday from school. I think Prince Charles said that only 40% of British people know anything of the wars on your soil. Sad. Best to you, Carly and Hank. Love watching your vlogs. Jane, Philadelphia
great video you guys!
Love the drone flying shots, again. Great choice of music. Good luck sorting out the water leak, such a pain things like that.
Great team! Great navigator!!
You two are trying hard to do this right.
Love all three of you ;0) such lovely people xxx
That's lovely of you to say, and hope you're keeping well throughout this crazy time we find ourselves in. 🙏🏻⛵️
@@CadohaAdventures yes! myself and my partner are fine thanks! At 63 I am probably in that danger zone but fit and have a young mind, enjoy your vids immensely! Give Hank a big kiss from me and Sue x
love your vlogs. I also love the way you find us smaller yacht sailors mad...Its all the same....pick your weather window. Keep it up.
There's smaller and then there's tiny, and by mad, what I'm really saying is that I I don't understand how they keep their little vessels afloat, with their gigantic brass balls which need to be stowed on board also 😂😂⛵️⛵️⛵️
In 2011.and.2013 I sailed.my 1st yacht, a 20.foot jouet all.along the spith coast and round Lands End up to South Wales. Anything is possible in sailing. Have to trust the boat. Got caught out a couple of times with weather but boat took ot well. I now have a huge 25 footer🤣 and still.sail the south coast, always single handed, just a little faster. Hopefully see you on the water some stage. ⚓⚓⛵⛵
"I think there's one thing we can agree on..." Dog yawns -such comedy! Agree 100% with sentiment -well said
Just in case you didn't know it, Dom, but that little boat looks to be about the size of a Caprice 18. A friend of mine in South Africa owned one and we often went for rollicking sails in her. Crossing the Channel should be no problem in a boat that size; a chappy called Shane Acton actually sailed a Caprice 18 around the world between 1972 and 1980. His book "Shrimpy: A Record Round-the-World Voyage in an Eighteen Foot Yacht" is fascinating reading.
Did u know he did it again met him in NZ 2001-2, the other way round to
Hi Crew of Cadoha ! Another great video, with an emotional reminder of the fallen. I hope there's an update on the fix for the small leak soon. Keep the videos coming, I always look forward to them, as you are such a likeable couple, with the most gorgeous pupsta ! if I had a boat, and if I could sail, I'd follow you around !
Hey, from a serving soldier, thank you! Looking very dapper in your intro. Where are yous now? I am based not far from poole and keep my boat there, unfortunately it's been lifted out for the winter. Would be cool to meet up with yous under different conditions, if your ever in and about poole in the future.
P.s. the videos are great.

Great video - really bringing life on a boat to life. Love your blue dock lines - look very cool
Glad you like them, they were Carlys choice, she's determined to colour coordinate everything 😂
Try and find a book called sailing super shrimpy by Shane Acton. He sails an 18'....18' day boat from Cambridge around the world crossing the Atlantic in about 40 days. On his own without an engine. Its a brilliant read.

Great video as always,
Yep first minute got my thumbs up well done you 👍👍
Always nice when people share the same feelings towards the vets. Not that I am one (not sure I'm that brave) but I really appreciate that we have such bad ass men and women, sitting up on the walls of our societies, protecting our way of life, so that soft people like me can live a comfortable life in relative safety.
@@CadohaAdventures you’d have a got a thumbs anyway btw ,your doing a great job with the vlogs but amidst the joking around it was a really nice touch .✌🏻
We will remember them. Thanks for that mate.
Always. My hope is that we can avoid another Great War, certainly until we manage to become interplanetary at least, so we can better start to hedge our bets for a future 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Not sure we'd bounce back from a modern version of those colossal wars.
What can I say that has not been said already, just really appreciate your channel.
Caught Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea,
Hank jumped off Cadoha and after a good look-see,
He could not find a tree, but you see,
Hank knows not to pee when he is out to sea,
A beach or marina is always better for a good pee.
Made my day. Well said.
Another great video in content, themes and visuals. As a fellow sailor, I would like to see more on your passage plan (quick map shot?) as there were two significant overfalls/ races to get around: did you go 'inside'. for example. Keep up the good work. Ps fixing the shaft seals on the water pump is said by many to be easy, but I've found it a pain...and managed to scratch the shaft getting the bearings and seals off. I actually purchased a non Volvo replacement pump (Ancor) as it was not that much more than the Volvo full shaft/seal kit....then fix the old one at leisure ( or get an engineer to do it), and you've a back up....only four bolts to remove pump and one for the gear wheel. Easy.
Well said and safe travels ⛵️ plus I did notice that you sneaked another shot of your beautiful misses 😂
Hi, total agreement , with your opening words , the hose on the pump looks a bit scrapie on the end or the seal has gone on the back of the raw water pump . Another fine video of real life at sea .Stay safe .
I had a similar problem with gunk in the tank, and used my oil change pump (one of those vacuum type, with a long semi-flexible tube) to suck the gunk out of all the corners of the tank. In combo with a “fuel polish” that might do the trick 😀
Hi Guy's, I am a new subscriber to your VLOG and have seen the issue with your Fuel you need to put your fuel through a "Scrubber" when you refuel each time, also it is good practice to do water sediment drain checks on a regular basis I come for an Aviation Engineering background and Aviation fuel and Diesel are similar as to where they come off at the distillation process in production so they have similar problems. You will find in warmer climates with humidity there will be water problems with it being in suspension and also Bio fungal growth in you tank because of this if you start to see bright orange globule's this is an indication you have "Gladis" growing "Cladosporium Resinae " a Fuel Fungus Is its proper name and you treat it with a Biocide, but you need to have a way of cleaning the fuel as you top your tanks up and carry out water drain checks when the tank has been at rest for a couple of hours not easy in a rough sea
Great intro for this episode. Very poignant words. As for your sailing, I was there in 2018. A great neck of the woods. I recommend Weymouth harbour in preference to Portland Marina. If you do go to Weymouth don’t go to the Marina as the harbour is a much more lively and vibrant.
I try not to get too political in the videos, generally speaking, but there are some sacrifices which have been made, by people of all stripes at the time, that are just too big to ever forget.
You're also right about it all being amazing sailing ground! 🙏🏻
Fuel polishing companies will clean and renew your fuel. It's a pressure wash of the tank using your fuel and a super-industrial filter. They then put in additives to make the diesel whole again. 30 year old diesel has been renewed successfully.
Another enjoyable video. Keep up with Hank’s humorous captions please - I’m waiting for his witty banter each time. I’m assuming that you’ve access to a diesel polishing unit by now but, if not, I can help. Andy at Beaulieu
Thanks, Andy. We will do. I think we may just have a solution for the fuel polishing. A few people got in contact with me and offered to kindly help out and one guy in particular has made an insanely generous offer which hopefully we'll be able to get to work on after this next phase of lockdown comes to an end.
Fingers and toes are crossed it doesn't last any longer than it absolutely has too. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great video, is that pip hares boat you are next to ?
Had to stop this video after the opening statement to make this comment. I thought as a 76 year old I was a voice in the wilderness for pointing out that whatever we are going through with Covid we are still much more the masters of our own fate than those young men who were sent to countries they didn't even know, to die. As awful as this pandemic is it does not compare with war. Thank you. It is as you say just a matter of perspective without minimizing the awful effects of the pandemic.
As I said, I naturally feel very resistant to it myself, but it's a small price to pay compared to what was asked of our ancestors. 🙏🏻
Congrats on your pilotage in the dark into Poole Harbour, place of a thousand (at least) buoys! I still don't understand why you always seem to have a reef in when sailing, though :-)
It was very busy with channel markers that's for sure, and as we ended up falling behind our schedule, we worried about darkness and turn of tide to deal with which may have been a headache. Luckily the engine got patched up just in time to make the tide and have just about enough light to find the marina and it got 'dark, dark' just as we moored up.
get a company to polish your fuel ,go alongside somewhere for a day and they will come over and run your fuel through their system
we used to do that on the super yachts a lot, normally fixes most of it
is there no type of 'flexible' tank that can be folded up to go in and out as needed? I'm thinking of the softer flexible plastic containers you sometimes see. Not sure if that would work with diesel though
There is an additive for treating 'fuel bug' in diesel.
Loved it! Well done on 1m views as well! Awesome achievement! If you like POTC music when sailing, check out M83 and get that blasting as you’re cutting through the waves 👍
Thank you, was nice to hit another milestone in the journey. Will be sure to check out anything that has a POTC vibe to it, oh and there's always a bit of Hans Zimmer for good measure 😁😁😁
Great vid as always, BUT: No one looks that good first thing in the morning!!!!
By the way, leave one screw on the Vetus fitting and just slacken it a bit to push the top plate aside. If you take all the screws off you will loose the inner part of the fitting in the tank. Don't ask me how I know.
She had that pretend look of actually considering to take Hank for the walk when really she was thinking F that, then not to my surprise it was an erm ohhhh yeah okay you take Hank 😂
You should get Hank a treadmill and use it to charge the batteries.
Dominic - In the northern hemisphere in a bad weather situation..... With your back to the wind, the centre of the low pressure is 90 degrees to your left... Might be a useful bit of weather law, if you find yourself in the teeth of a gale, and don't want to spark up your Windy app. This will allow you to monitor the speed and direction of the low pressure centre, and depending on your heading, you should be able to make a decision on reefing, or tacking, to get around some headland, or other navigational turn point..... Cheers, always pleased to see your videos turn up in my feed...
nice work guys, can we have cooking with Hank over winter? :}
Watch Patrick Laine’s fuel polishing video, you can make your own kit for about £60
We have indeed, more super valuable information that's for sure.
I know this is something you've probably checked but if not... have you checked your exhaust elbow on the engine for coking??? If not check it and almost for sure change it unless you already have! Check you tube for this common issue...

Wonderfully poignant intro.
If anything, god forbid, was to happen to Hank I would volunteer myself to take his place, what a life he leads
This is how we feel, we took him away from his home, his family, and all that he knew, so it's up to us to make sure that his life is as awesome as possible and that the people who allowed us to take him can see they made a (hopefully they think this) wise choice. 🙏🏻😁
