I remember jamming with Jeff in the music school rehearsal rooms at Berklee in the 1970's. We turned off all the lights and take long experimental solos but Jeff's solid playing would light up the room.

I have been playing all my life and always feel so humbled when I listen to him. Absolutely a master that will never be matched.

He made what a Selmer Saxophone should sound like, big, bold, elegant, dangerous, with Brecker the list is long, but always perfection.

Most people don't know the inter personal skills and technicals it's takes to sound like the greatest. It's takes years and years.

Matija Liaic, I don't feel bad I am merely in awe of his talent. There are countless thousands of great players out there that could practise 14 hours a day and not touch him.

This is my favorite time period for Michael Brecker recordings. I like his sound best on this setup.

Agreed on the original tenor Selmer sound. To keep that full bodied and edgy tone on a Mk6 is something that's easily lost. MB was a master and such a humble man. IMO the key to true musicianship. RIP.

Not my favourite rendition but there's no getting over Breckers complete mastery of his horn. Simply incredible.

I would argue that music, especially jazz, is free to interpret any way you want. Even if I'm wrong on that point, I could never downplay anything Brecker did.

I like the sound Brecker has here, with the original neck, earlier Brecker!
Not that his sound got less good or anything, but his tone is amazing!
    Jeff Andrews,my favorite bassist!
